Great suggestions! My cats love the "cat dancer" for the unpredictable movements and I love how cheap it is. You can get one for under $5 online. It's just a wire with a little cardboard on the end, but it's always a favorite :)
Omg cats are crazy about this dancing toy! We sadly only found it after making this video, but now they’re obsessed. We store it in a cupboard, and as soon as we open the door, they come running. Even our 13-year-old Cookie, who’s usually not into toys, loves it. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. We really need to do a video about this one.

I've worked in the cat toy industry for more than 40 years. Interactive toys that have a string on them like a fishing pole ALWAYS require human supervision so your cats aren't injured by getting tangled up in the string. @@tareenagoodridge7986 Oh awesome, I'm so happy they enjoy them! Apologies in advance for the weekly, under sofa clean up you're about to do! haha If they like the springs / tubes, they'll also probs like tin foil balls (number 1 on our DIY vid we just released). Keep us updated, it's really exciting to hear about this!
Thank you for the tips! I'm really new to owning a cat, really only had her for a little over a month and noticed she has a *huge* hunt drive. She's an indoor cat due to her allergies and the fact that I live close to a busy road so keeping her entertained is mostly down to either using the fishing rod or me throwing toys for her to chase. Especially the springs, the tubes and propeller will be great additions for her toy box.
Congratulations on being a new cat owner! Awe she sounds really cute and totally agree with ooo re the road, we made a similar decision. On the toy front I’d recommend grabbing a few puzzle feeders and looking to add things like tunnels and a couple of cat trees (if you haven’t already). We released a video called ‘why cats get bored of toys’ and in there we broke down the different types of toys etc. If you need another wand type of toy, the cat dancer could also be a good option as she’ll love hunting that! Congrats again Robin, let us know how you get on with the toys! 😻
The little orange worm fuzzy looking thingy on the end of the fishing pole, will start to come off in the cats mouth, eventually. They do love this toy, however, I did not like finding the fuzzy stuff everywhere and worried about it in their stomachs, so it was put away.
Yeah agreed. Fishing rods and their attachments are best stored away when not in use. It's pretty normal for the attachments to break, it's to be expected, thankfully they are fairly cheap to replace. If you get a chance, I'd recommend having a feather and a worm option to switch between during play, our cats LOVE the mix up as it keeps it fresh and exciting for them. Appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment on the video :)
They are pretty awesome! I know this sounds mental but we bought 1000 of them recently and set our cats a series of challenges. If you like ping pong balls I think you’ll like that video hehe! Thank you for watching and commenting on the video. ❤️
When my guy was a kitten he would play “tennis”. Had no idea that was a thing lol. I would just bounce them high or throw it to him and he would slap it back to me in the air. It’s always the simple things.
I took on a kitten Maine Coon (6 months old) & she came with a host of toys. Feather wands, replica mice, spinney ball things all sorts I went a bit old fashioned & her favourite toys (currently) are not those, but are a felt tip pen (lid on), few crisp packets rolled up & tied in a knot (she doesn't chew them) & for right or wrong, a couple of plastic syringes which all have unpredictable movements when she swipes at them. May give that tower a try though. Nice one.
haha cats are difficult to understand at the best of times. The main thing is you're playing with her keeping her enterained! If you get time, we reviewed The Cat Dancer toy, its a solid recommendation given it's low cost and how much our cats love it. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment on our videos. Let me know how you get on with the Tower!
Super late comment but here in the US the “finger traps” are called boinks (name brand). Try turning the ends in, they kinda look like a bone shape, you can spring them off the floor, etc. You can also put one end inside the other and make a large ring shape… just a couple ways to mix things up. Liked your why cats get bored with toys video
Hahahaha honestly that’s so helpful. I couldn’t think of what to call them lol!! 😂 interesting about linking them up, I’ll have a play, it’s a great idea!! Thank you for commenting, appreciate the positive feedback. Since that video dropped (bored of toys) all our other videos have had a massive influx of new viewers, it’s been amazing so you’re certainly not late by any means! ❤️
Boinks also sells a Bamboozler stick. It's a string that is the same material as the finger traps and it's attached to a bamboo stick. My one year old cat LOVES hers. She will drag it over to me when she wants to play. It's a great toy for a couch potato like me because I can play with her and get her chasing it without me even having to get up. I couldn't find them anywhere so I ordered from Boinks website. (I also ordered packages of the finger trap toys.) The shipping is very expensive, but the joy my cat and I get out of playing with them makes it worth every penny. A warning: you may often find the finger trap toys in the water bowl! 😄
ooo that's a handy recommendation, thank you, we'll have a look into that one. Omg that sounds soo cute, sounds like she's your very own gym instructor haha! They love throwing them in the water bowl don't they, ours seem to think that's their natural home as well... lol
Agreed 100%. The laser pointers feel a bit of a shame to use, like it works to get them moving but is it REALLY fulfilling? I'm not sure. Defo mixed feelings about that one!
I totally agree. I do like how it gets my little boy moving though so after a few minutes I toss a piece of kibble and shine it on the kibble then turn off the lazer when he goes to eat it. He gets something attainable.
Our Oreo has a natural knack for picking things up, so that part was easy for him. We taught him retrieval by firing the propeller toy and calling him back, celebrating each time he brought it to us. In the beginning, we used treats to help him learn. Now, he loves the attention and knows he's putting on a show for us-haha! Thanks so much for watching! 😊
Omg. Cats are such little sh*ts some times aren’t they? Haha I guess they liked it a bit too much 😂 thank you for taking the time to watch and comment on our video! 😻
What about toys for cats who are not lazy, they're CRAZY, so he's gonna snap that fishing rod if he catches it. Yes, I'm putting up the shelves and the posts and the trees and all that jazz but he's just not into any toy that doesn't act like its fighting for its life. He likes wands but I literally have to run through my entire house with it and he's still kinda like, bitch I see the stick...
HAHAHA. Is this a cry for help, sounds like your cat is in control! On the positive side of things, maybe there's less need to hit the gym? haha. Re different wand toys, have you tried the orginal cat dancer? We've done a video on it but it's super cheap and sends our cats crazy. Appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment on our video. :)
I'm afraid to use my cat tubes - I got them in a bundle of mixed toys and they resemble so much the wire casing I bought to prevent Kitty from chewing on the wires :/ I am afraid that if he likes the cat tubes, he will start to see the wires as toys :/ do you have a similar solutions for your wires or you use something else? As a fav toy, I am not sure he has one. I need to rotate a lot with him cos he gets bored of his toys very easily and if he's in the mood for the "fishing rod" he will not play with the ball, and if he wants a ball, don't give him a mouse hahaha But I think in general he prefers the furry kind of toys, and the smaller and lighter the better (as a general rule of thumb cos at times he is in the mood for bigger toys but that is rare and far in between usually) ...my Kitty is so unpredictable... he doesn't even has a routine! hehehe
Oh wow, I’ve never thought about the resemblance before. The tubes are quite stringy but if you’re worried there’s plenty of other toys. Also thinking about it now, cat tube sounds better than finger trap lol! Ours haven’t been 😂 In the past we had a cat that used to chew everything. Clothes, cables, my wife’s expensive shoes (lol)… we ended up doing similar, wrapping the cables and switching out cables for ones that were braided and metal. These days, we’ve got Ikea desks that come with the under desk netting. Alternatively, although it doesn’t sound like you’re suffering from cable biting (atm at least). You can also grab a couple of (small) dog chew toys or even fabric toys which lets them get their fix. Loool! Honestly. Sounds like he’s got right where he wants you! We’ve not reviewed it yet but we’ve been testing the Trixi cat adventure carpet. I don’t think it looks great and there’s a few faults but our cats LLOOOVVEE it. It’s good by itself but it seems to really amplify the fun time with other toys. A & K
I think I saw Cat Tube from the vid cos I searched to see what to call them lol! he doesn't usually chew stuff but I have my laptop wire hanging over his fav cat bed often soooo it already looks a little like a tempting toy :/ he has a lot of toys lying around to satisfy his craving tbh :) oh! I have a "holed" cat tunnel that flattened out... I good DIY it into an adventure carpet! Looks like lots of fun for him! :D
Ooo yeah do it. I’m sure these ‘play mats’ can be DIY’ed pretty easy, some of them look like 2 bits of carpet stuck together haha! Haha risky. I’d still go for the tube. Who needs a laptop anyway!… 😅😂
@@Pepperprojectz hahaha laptop was my whole life before I got Kitty... still need it for 90% of my non-Kitty activities LOL! I always tell him, laptop is the only thing you cannot break LOL
I am sorry not to give it a like, but my most cats did not like cat toys. My first cat liked to play with me some games we both understood. Ninja cats; if he could jumped on my back, he won! If I touched him first he lost. And of course it had to be about 50/50. But no he never liked toys until I went on an holliday, I left some fur mouses. He seemed to like them, but could not find them under the furniture. Most of my cats did not really like cat toys, Most of the toys were never good enough. Nice try but some paper crams dit mostly the trick!
Thank you for watching and leaving your honest feedback. Cats are weird. Not all toys will work with every cat but as owners it's our responsibility to find what works for each of them, and then doing more of it. It sounds like your cats are really lucky having you. You're clearly trying and have worked out what they do and don't like. And honestly, that's all that matters!
Ours haven’t been 😂
In the past we had a cat that used to chew everything.
I think I saw Cat Tube from the vid cos I searched to see what to call them lol!
he doesn't usually chew stuff but I have my laptop wire hanging over his fav cat bed often soooo it already looks a little like a tempting toy :/ he has a lot of toys lying around to satisfy his craving tbh :)
oh!
I always tell him, laptop is the only thing you cannot break LOL
hahaha
Also, my 1 year old likes to chew on cardboard voraciously
Lool! Well that sounds like they’re keeping their teeth clean haha!
Most of my cats did not really like cat toys,
Most of the toys were never good enough.
For us, hopefully we'll review a toy that will work for your cats (we're currently in the middle of writing a DIY cat toy video, which we hope will be out next week...) maybe one of them will work for your cats? Fingers crossed! :)

My cat has no interest in toys I buy
Oh no! Our Cookie is just like this, and we've been searching high and low for a toy she likes. Every now and then, she surprises us, haha! Thanks so much for watching and sharing your experience with cat toys :)
