TOP 5 Best Cat Toys (Our Cats Tested Them All)!
Once cats discover the real thing, the thrill of a kill, they outgrow toys. It is a terrible thing but as cats get older the thrill of a kill takes way to the comfort of soft furnishings and people who provide them with food. Cats are not stupid.
Yes cats like to chase things. But I think you're right - they also like to stalk things, and any toy that doesn't lay low for awhile before popping into action will lose their interest. (PS-why would anyone want a shag carpet? I don't get the appeal.)
Is there a place I can find the chart of cat toy ratings that was briefly shown in the video? I’ve seen it briefly in a couple of them but I would really like to get a look at it cause I’ll be bring my ESA cat to college but at the moment she is technically an outdoor cat cause my family is allergic and I’m worried about her when I’m gonna be out and about.
How about those of us who have carpet???
My senior cat rarely plays, but when she does, she goes for her favourite toy - a bottle cap. It slides on the floor perfectly, and she only plays with this - never mind all the cat toys I got her :D
Cats favourite toy? The box the toy arrived in. Anyone else?
HAHAHA, this is an underrated comment!
We have 6 cats. Mum and her kittens. We have a 6m x 5m x 2m half covered catio from Chooks. Absolutely recommend. One trick we use. Instead of feeding them biscuits in a bowl, we sprinkle them all over the house. Changes the amounts and places each night. Funnily enough we are doing practically everything in this video, I came here to find out more tips lol
Wow, a 6m x 5m x 2m catio sounds amazing! Your cats must love having all that space to explore. 🐾 And I love your idea of sprinkling kibble around the house-that’s such a fun way to keep them active and entertained! (I think that could be the 9th hack)! ;) If you have any more tips, feel free to drop them in the comments, I’m sure other cat parents would appreciate it too. The fact that you're always looking for more tips just shows what an awesome cat parent you are-your kitties are lucky to have you! 😊
@@Pepperprojectz Has towers with hammocks and scratching posts. We put a Japanese Maple tree, only grows to 2m. They love the leaves when they bloom and its safe for them to play with :)
My cat dont even look at it😭
Haha, classic cat move! They really know how to keep us guessing, don’t they?
Thanks!
Oh WoW, thank you so much, we were not expecting this at all. You're increadibly kind. We'll put this towards making our videos better. Thank you. <3
Tip: cats prefer mango and drumstick trees or trees with a unique smell (usually fruit trees)
haha, that's awesome, I didn't know that, I'll have to do some reading! Thank you for the tip!
Tip: Make sure that whatever TV or electronic device is used is either cheap or properly secured to keep your wallet getting emptied when the excited cat decides to ramm, climb or attack it to get to the birds, animals on the screen (almost lost a tv)
So true, this is an important tip!
Tip: Most municipalities and city planning sell trees for cheap or relocation, invest in one and place it near the home but at a safe distance so that it doesn't fall and destroy your home to get your cat cheap, eco-friendly and longer term as well as a safe climbing area that changes and grows on it own
Thanks so much for the awesome tip! 🌳 Appreciate you sharing this idea!
cats also miss and search for their dead littermates
Absolutely, it really shows how deep their bonds are. When our first cat passed, even Cookie, who wasn’t her littermate, became deeply depressed. Cats’ social nature is often underestimated, and we hope to bring more awareness to this through our videos. Thanks so much for your support, @AnnonyMOusIE! ❤️
Great video 👍🏻
Thank you so much 😸😻

Our cats worship it! 🤔😂
Oooh!! I need this video!! Walking around with a wand toy in my back pocket isn’t working for me! 😻😻
Hahaha! 🤣 Playtime ready! Glad that was useful! ❤️
First meow 😊 Great and realistic tips, thanks so much! I'll be sure to incorporate those that I don't use already!
Winner!! 🏆 Damn that was fast! Haha 🙀😻
Anything that is fragile enough that a cat can bite off pieces, and cannot be digested, can and *will* become a vet visit and/or deadly for some cats. String is particularly dangerous, as cats cannot "spit", and once they get a piece in their mouth have no choice but to start swallowing, and swallow the whole string. Once in the intestines, the "pulling" action of the gut will cause the string to saw through the intestinal wall. Result: emergency vet visit, usually surgery, and/or a dead cat. Cardboard and felt can become impacted into a mass that the cat can't pass on further. Same result. For this reason, the ONLY string like material I will use for DIY cat toys is "strapping tape", that flat, non-sticky "tape" that shipping companies use to bind boxes to pallets. Cats can shred the ends, but I've never known one that can bite a piece *off* and swallow. Hard to get hold of, so when I get a piece, I treat it like the gold that it is.
Wand toys can be dangerous on their own, and should probably be put away when a human isn't holding one end. This is as true of the commercial toys as anything home-made. I mimic my cat's favorite wand toy by buying thin, flexible plastic wands and adding a rubber skirt for fishing lures to one end. I make my own because I can rarely find them for sale...anywhere. Again, should be kept away from the cat when a human isn't around, as they can and *will* chew pieces of the rubber off and swallow them.
Also, remember the "Lego test". Drop any toy on the ground and step on it, hard, with a bare foot. If you don't want to step on it again, in the dark on the way to the bathroom, either keep it locked up, or get rid of it. (I'm very fortunate that my Cleopatra's favorite toy is foam rubber balls. I highly recommend them, even though they aren't DIY.)
Thank you so much for sharing these valuable insights! 🐾 And the ‘Lego test’-what a brilliant rule of thumb! 😂 I’m definitely going to remember that one. Cleopatra is lucky to have you looking out for her, and those foam rubber balls sound like a hit! If you have any more tips, feel free to drop them, I’m sure other cat parents would love to hear them!
Can't find where to plug in the USB
There's a small blue cover on the side of the toy, see 4:03. I hope this helps! :)
Get an older cat or kitten, they will brighten your life forever. Just leave the water and food out. Change the litter box every 7 days or less or it’s a outside cat. Easy stuff. Talk to your cat.
They truly do brighten your world! We love talking to our 3! Thank you so much for watching and sharing your experience.
You showed up in my feed & already saved us HUNDREDS. Re-using is KING. Gift ideas! Catnip Kicker is my fave!! (Our home is a millipede of single socks) Liked (loved actually) and subbed

Ping pong balls entertain my 5 mo. Old kitten for hours!
They are pretty awesome! I know this sounds mental but we bought 1000 of them recently and set our cats a series of challenges. If you like ping pong balls I think you’ll like that video hehe! Thank you for watching and commenting on the video. ❤️
Cable ties are the favourite here. My cat loses his mind hunting them haha
Wow, cats are so strange, haha! Thanks so much for sharing what your cat loves-a hunting cat is a happy cat 😸
These are great! My cat is really fickle with toys, so I especially appreciate you guys splitting the options into different engagement categories. I definitely want to try a few of these!
Don't worry you're not alone in that,, our eldest Cookie is increadibly selective! If you haven't seen it already, we posted a video about how to make older toys interesting again. In there we talked about different categories and how to reset that interest. Otherwise if you don't it ends up feeling like one endless treadmill of a toy search, ha! Anyway, enough of my ramble. Thank you for watching and let us know how the DIY toy making goes! :)
@@Pepperprojectz That's actually the first video of yours that I saw! It definitely inspired me to spice things up for my cat. :) And I can officially report that the tube towers at 8:44 were a success! Instead of a wood piece, I used a $1 side plate from Dollar General as the base, and it was just enough weight to hold up to some pawing. It was lots of fun! I'm looking forward to bringing it out occasionally for some added enrichment.
Oh that's sooo cool and really good to hear! <3 hahaha the tube towers are so much fun. Glad it was useful. Thank you for watching and commenting :)
Can you link where you got that black cat tree in the background?
Ooo good question. We've now got 2x black cat trees, from different cat tree brands; - rhrpets.co.uk (amzn.to/3Bl99hP) - cattree.uk (cattree.uk/product/cat-tree-royalty-plus-antracite/) We ended up ordering our 2nd cat tree from rhr (mainly because they had decent delivery times). But both have been solid so far. I'm not sure where you are in the world but I THINK both of these brands can deliver across most of the world. We recently also bought a ton of wall attachments (rhrpets.co.uk) which look & feel awesome although we haven't had the time to put them up / shoot anything yet. But hopefully we'll have a video on that up sometime in the future. Here's a few of the bits we got. :) amzn.to/4eao50O amzn.to/3BcM94H amzn.to/3ZvQDgM If you get one, let me know how you get on. We'd love to review these types of things in the future so hearing sub comments helps to both know where to look to gauge real feedback. I hope that helps. A & K
I had to buy these for my three as one has food allergies and needs RX food. I have to admit it took a bit to get them used to the bowls. Also I had the problem of a greedy cat getting her face in the as I was trying to sync other cats. After a couple of resets they all have their own bowl. I too do not like the open close button to be so close to the add cat button. Also the expense of buying back guards to prevent cat thieves (do they not know cats?) they should be stock. Bowls not being dishwasher safe is also a bit of a drawback. And so correct why not be rechargeable? Yes very expensive but I think of them as medical devices, so I bought three. ..cats.
3 Ouch! They’re expensive but yeah, as you said, if they solve the problem then it’s well worth the money. Have you tried the metal bowls? We throw them in the dishwasher although again, it’s ANOtHER expense lol 😂 🫠 Good to hear we weren’t the only ones having these experiences with the button lol! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment on the video ❤️
So sad the ending, I don't even want to think about it :(

They’re soo cute! 🥰
I got my cat from a shelter when she was already 9 years old and have no information on how she was treated before. I know she lived with an old person and I assumed she is generally calm because of growing up with an elderly person. Anyways, I’ve been trying everything to play with her, but she only plays alone mostly after pooping 😄 but she is never interested in cat specific toys. :( she is very lovely and got attached to me so she is very happy whenever we can just hang out all day. but she doesn’t want to play:( she has cat IBS though and I think this affects her mood - I can’t even throw her pieces of dry food that she liked chasing on the floor, because the smallest amount of different food than the one she is able to eat upsets her stomach.
Awe she sounds very cute. Well done for rescuing her! As cats get older they tend to play less and play for an older cat will look a lot different to a younger one. Cats are crepuscular, which means they’re most active first thing in the morning and late at night, equally they tend to play more when hungry, it could be worth trying playtime around these times. Equally if she used to go out and hunt, she can probably tell the difference between a real and a fake mouse (for example) so you might have to really try hard to mimic a prey’s movement (think moving out of line of sight, under things and quick bursts of energy for stopping). Some cats prefer types of prey or toys that resemble them (think worms, birds, insects and mice). Try a few different types of wand attachments. Lastly and this is something to check with the vet but it might be worth checking whether there’s signs of arthritis. I’m sure it’s fine but worth double checking. Cookie, our eldest had slowed a lot because of this but after some meds, she started acting like a much younger cat again. :) Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment on the video!

These two are brilliant. I need more!
hahaha thanks buddy! <3
I've worked in the cat toy industry for more than 40 years. Interactive toys that have a string on them like a fishing pole ALWAYS require human supervision so your cats aren't injured by getting tangled up in the string. Put them away where your cats can't access them when they're not in use. We have a warning about the hazards of unsupervised use in the fine print on our label next to the bar code.
Oh wow, that's impressive! I imagine a lot of cats have benefited from your long career. Also massive agree on the string. Out of interest, have you seen some of the newer toys that are trending on social media? We reviewed the Turbo Tail 2.0. Be interesting to get your thoughts on that one if you see it. :) Also, what's your fav toy? p.s. thank you for watching and taking the time to comment on the video. :)
What problem would you like us to look into next? 🐈🐾
It's so lovely that you want to motivate people to play with their cats. You may want to consider doing a video that discusses that lack of motivation and why pet parents might need to address it. People who aren't taking very good care of themselves also have trouble taking good care of their pets. It's all connected. Health and wellness is super important for all of us. The example we set for others speaks volumes. Wishing you the best with your channel!! 😻💖✨
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! You bring up a fantastic point about the connection between pet care and personal wellness. It’s definitely something I’d like to explore in more detail in a future video! We’re so grateful you took the time to share your idea and thoughts! Wishing you all the best! 😊🐾💖✨
@@Pepperprojectz maybe you could have a quick conversation with chatgpt about fun ways to combine self care and quality time with pets and see what pops? 💕✌️
Haha will do!
How quickly will the lid close once kitty moves, I have a cat who will stick his head in, kicking the other kitty out, will it close on him? I need it to! Thanks
Hahaha we had the same thing. On the bottom is a sensitivity switch to make it more sensitive. Once your cat moves their head out the way, it will close regardless of whether your cat has got their head in or not. It’s very much a ‘slam the door shut type of deal’. (Your cats head won’t get stuck or anything).
When we get home, we’ll record it :)
Just tested it between 1-2 seconds. And yeah. The lid will close it even if they got their head in just in time.
On the subject of cat toys I am a fan of automated and a toy I had years ago I wish I could find again is a remote controlled laser light that you put on the ceiling. Since toys for cats are prey based and cats don't always want to play when you want to play, I wonder if there are toys that like some auto feeders could be set off by the cat, the ceiling laser light I had wasn't quite like that, but it did have a timer I could set for play as well as a motion sensor that I switch to if I didn't want to time it. Used a lot of batteries this is old tech I had this thing years ago it came from Toys R Us the kids store at the time I guess they dabbled in cat toys, but I would be interested to find out what kind of interactive smart toys there are for cats since you have pointed out that boredom and change up is good, wouldn't it be interesting to see what toys a cat would pick on their own if they had access and choice regardless, if its automatic its up to them...which I would be interested in since I find cats are like kids, and if one wants it they all want it, and not one of each they all want the SAME one. I have elder cats who still love to play and I agree the only way to keep a cat from feeling pain is to keep them playing since they don't have the same kind of skeleton as we do and they rely on their muscles to hold the bones in place. Always happy when you drop a new video, seems I was right here when this one popped I feel lucky hehehe.
Omg, I've never heard of a toy like that, it sounds hilarious! I'll have to do some research to find out if we can get hold of one. Like you said there must be more modern versions (which hopefully use less batteries). I'd love to test it. Mmm, we have the same problem with catnip toys. If we only get one, they get all territorial about it, ha! Yeah, play is so increadibly important, plus, honestly, it's great fun for us as well. You were very early this time lol! A new record?! Thank you for your support :)
Actually lasers, especially automatic ones, can be extremely frustrating for the cat and even lead to mental problems, so if you can't find one that's for the best... 😐 Because a cat can't actually catch it, it causes a lot of frustration, but the cat's instincts keep forcing them to try fruitlessly over and over, yet never yielding any result... Cats need to finish the play session by catching the prey, biting it, etc.. laser toy doesn't provide that whatsoever
@@vanilla7349 that makes alot of sense to me. I am glad I saw your comment because a part of me feels almost cruel as I walk into a wall of the most common sense I have never thought about at all. If they can't catch it we won't use it I appreciate the information my cats are not going to be subjected to that kind of frustration ever again.
Hi, what's the puzzle feeder at 3:17 called?
Hey @blckhll1082, it’s called a tower feeder (there’s a link on the video description). The one in the video is a ‘dog’ version as we picked it up from our local pet store but the one in the link is the same apart from the colour!
@@Pepperprojectz Ah brilliant, thanks a lot!

👍 toy assortments are good options. But be aware there’s often toys, like tinsel ones that are dangerous. Typically these types of toys are not sold by reputable manufacturers rather they are white labelled products thrown together by people who don’t understand or potentially care about cats.
Your cats are just gorgeous!
Awwwee thank you 🙏 ❤️❤️

❤ such beautiful Kitty's wow they love to play, nothing better than seeing cats play its so enthralling and funny❤
Aweee thank you. They do love playtime haha!
OK well that just proves we give cats credit for having brilliant eye sight that they actually don't have...or too much credit for being smarter than they actually are....😂
hahahaha so true. They knew it was there but kept coming back to try and tap toys under it. They could very easy jump it but seemed to prefer headbutting it... weird lol!
Love your channel. Content that has been needed for far too long. So far we have whole heartedly agreed with your opinions and conclusions. Two of our cats favorite toys, over several years, has been the "Sheer Fun For Cats" fabric, see thru, screen and the Snuggly Cat Ripple Rug.
Awe, thank you Suzettereynolds3993, appreciate the lovely words. Oh interesting, I've seen it advertised (Sheer fun for cats) but not got round to ordering it. It kinda reminds me of when you change the bed sheets and they go ape sh*t haha! The rug looks really similar to the trixie version we picked up a few months back (but still haven't got round to doing a video on). Thank you for these recommendations, we love getting new toys to try and write about (especially good/fun toys)! We'll add these to our list. Appreciate the support and for taking the time to watch and comment on our video! <3
I took on a kitten Maine Coon (6 months old) & she came with a host of toys. Feather wands, replica mice, spinney ball things all sorts I went a bit old fashioned & her favourite toys (currently) are not those, but are a felt tip pen (lid on), few crisp packets rolled up & tied in a knot (she doesn't chew them) & for right or wrong, a couple of plastic syringes which all have unpredictable movements when she swipes at them. May give that tower a try though. Nice one.
haha cats are difficult to understand at the best of times. The main thing is you're playing with her keeping her enterained! If you get time, we reviewed The Cat Dancer toy, its a solid recommendation given it's low cost and how much our cats love it. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment on our videos. Let me know how you get on with the Tower!
