1. A couple people have asked me if I'm planning on making a video to commemorate Technoblade. The thing is, I don't want to say anything else. I would feel wrong doing so. Making a video about it on my channel doesn't really feel right, and I have no desire to farm clicks/ad revenue/attention off the topic like some others are doing. So yeah. Stay strong out there, and talk to someone if you're going through stages of grief. We'll get through this as a community. 💜
2. This video topic is a couple days old, but I was working on this video and juggling conventions at the same time. Then, after the Techno news struck, I couldn't really bring myself to edit or look at Minecraft for a few days. But after a little delay, I'm back and should be on a normal schedule from here on out. Omicron I have your respect for doing this. As most youtubers are milking this as a form of monetization. However, you stick out like a sore thumb, and in a real good way. Your way of handling this should be a role model to other youtuber's, and I am completely agreeing on your opinion. You clearly show respects to Technoblade and are refusing to attempt to get a little more revenue or clicks off something that shouldn't be touched but just accepted and acknowledged.

It's up to the server owners to decide their rules, Minecraft doesn't need to do it (and quite frankly is going to do a terrible job)

Punishments should be dealt with the servers not the game itself. The strictness of the rules should depend on the server, since every server is different.

The only problems i have with chat reporting is
A. Microsoft handling the reports instead of a server mod team
B. Reports and bans are global. If you're banned from one server, even falsely, you're banned from all servers including your own private servers

I seriously don't get this argument.
"SMH just don't swear" is just a naive take from a perspective where global ban shouldn't be necessary and such just do local bans "which is getting banned from the server not multiplayer access" just like the community has been doing for decades.
The report system is a fine addition but the implementation in which it forces global ban in losing your multiplayer rights because you happen to do a miniscule of Tom foolery or even get falsely banned is downright stupid.
Regardless, getting global banned for something that is mentioned above is a nuclear option which only hurts the playerbase.
I am astounded that Microsoft is STILL set on implementing the chat report system despite the continuous and harsh backlash. This reporting system is completely unneeded and if anything, harmful. I am fully convinced that Microsoft is just a money hungry company that doesn't care about it's users whatsoever.

the bottom line is that even though it seems like it, minecraft isn't a kids game, in fact the report system is doing the opposite for the target audience, restricting banned players to a single-player, child friendly game mode, in my opinion i think an age verification would be better before letting children access multiplayer modes, as it would prevent young eyes from being harrassed on the internet, while also giving them the experience of minecraft
obviously age verification being something like 12 and up years old to play multiplayer
but some kids like playing multiplayer like hypixel. honestly nothing about chat reporting or multiplayer bans should exist. quite a lot of kids playing big servers like hypixel don't even care about swear words and stuff
they don't want to restrict anyone they want to force you to rebuy minecraft to play multiplayer increasing there revenue it's literally the only reason this shit was added they dont care about young people or the playerbase.

@@shadowmanksx this is most definitely true. They have no way to actually keep you off multiplayer. They don't link bans to emails or ip addresses, so you can easily bypass the ban by buying another account. Microsoft doesn't care about being PG like it says it does. It just wants money.
I think you may have forgotten that players on bedrock are SCARED to chat in ANY server.
I got shadowmuted from one server probably because their spam filter doesn't factor in time. They also reward you for saying "gg" after a game. So, if you only say "gg" for the experience...

actually i think the ban system is pointless, as big servers like hypixels already have their own report system, or
small servers have /kick, /ban commands
Not only does it raise the issue of malicious ban-spamming, but it also steamrolls the endless diverse "cultures" of the Minecraft multiplayer community. Does anyone actually have faith that Microsoft (because that's who this is coming from) is going to spend the resources to carefully study the context of each chat message, action, etc. of each reported player? And who's to say Microsoft is an objective judge either?
there are hack v hack servers anarchy and shit, microsoft should not moderate the game at all.
Servers can have different rule sets, and Microsoft admins won’t know about them so this basically will ruin servers with their own rule sets unless they change it to where server owners can do something like toggle certain report categories or toggle chat reports in general.
Or just don’t add the report system, cause Mojang purposely made Java edition be named “Minecraft: Java Edition” while bedrock is named “Minecraft”. They can just change the rating for Java edition to be rated T for teens or whatever it is compared to Bedrock’s E10+ and let the server owners take care of everything. If they plan on making parity between Bedrock and Java, but making Java like Bedrock instead, I won’t be updating. Maybe they could also make it to where only server owners and moderators could report someone and actually get it sent to Microsoft, as that would make false bans a lot less likely cause it’d go through two mods.

I agree with what the description says, if a player is doing something inappropriate or spamming unendingly then there is always the option to just leave. Just leave. Minecraft doesn't need to implement multiversal bans because it is such a sandbox game that there are an infinite number of things anyone could do to stop that person or just leave the situation altogether.
Banning makes sense in my head because that player that is being annoying isn’t just annoying you, it’s annoying everyone in that server as well. Not to mention the other servers that that player will go to.

most bans aren't permanent though, unless its a permanent ban, which they might have done something bad to deserve it.
@@cassregisterr just ignore them or leave that to the moderation team. Additionally you should just add a command like /ignore (specific_player). Banning is not only stupid because there is a moderation team on each server mostly, but you also can't swear like you used to. Some people just like dark jokes. Multiversal banning is stupid. And besides, he even mentioned in the video. If someone annoys you, just report them to the server staff

Even though we as a community stated that we will not accept new rules, they're still enforcing it as if they have a malicious purpose in doing so. I dont trust microsoft, and in recent years lost my trust to mojang (splitting 1 version into 3)

@Arolex Isn't that the whole point of the Warden? It's supposed to be overpowered, because you aren't supposed to kill it. The whole point of the deep dark is for you to be sneaky, and not start killing everything in site. Also, how does one mob effect the usefulness of an item? I could go and say diamond is useless for the exact same reason you stated as well. As well as iron, gold, leather, etc

I can’t wait for cheaters to make auto report scripts like on roblox.
Context, cheaters on roblox get called names like “ur so bad you have to cheat”, “wow your cheating and are still bad”. So cheaters made scripts that whenever they see keywords like those it auto reports the other user. In 9/10 cases the angry player gets a 3 day “harassment” ban and the cheater just continues to play.

I have already seen mods that can manipulate reports to remove context and get someone falsely banned. These mods are just made to prove how easy it is to break the system, but genuine mods to abuse this kind of thing would be just as easy to make. The system is awful in every way.

imo, even if the player does death threats or says something really bad, they should not be banned from minecraft, they should be banned from just the server. We are forced to pay or host our own servers so mojang/microsoft should stay out of it.

Mojang should add a thing so servers can define before a player joins if the server is like PG family friendly or toxic players so if a player is reported for swearing in a toxic server they cannot be in trouble as the server owners/staff have decided it’s ok and the players are aware of this fact
I think that if this goes into action I will avoid chatting most of the time, being afraid of being banned from anything.
I stopped playing multiplayer months ago because I got legitimately sick of it, but this would be good enough a reason to leave now if I hadn't already done so. Unfortunately I'm still going to have to unwillingly watch Minecraft's gameplay updates continue deteriorating, because it definitely will.

@@amongsussyballs still a terrible idea, some servers are relied heavily on commands, even if Microsoft decided to mute the chat but not the commands, its still going to break some plugins because not all of them are perfect and are designed for these type of moderation. Moderation as a whole should be taken care by the owner of the server. Multiversal moderation is not a solution, its a recipe for disaster.

minecraft 1.20, the terrible update: "we have removed the /ban command as young kids can't be trusted with that kind of power, we also removed all forms of weapons as children need to be protected from all forms of IRL problems whilst playing games"
Unfortunately, I can’t say 1.20 was any better than that update. We got a bunch of useless decorations that do absolutely nothing and add nothing to the gameplay, not to mention they’re way to rare to actually obtain a reasonable amount.

Its really sad how Mojang broke the trust they gave the players since the very start, Minecraft is a game where you choose how you wanna play.

I left a comment on their feedback page. It took them a little less than a week to review it and when they did, they removed it for some reason.
There were no swear words, inflammatory statements, or anything. They just removed it. The saddest part is that ive this is a common thing happening.

Honestly what makes me really mad, is that if people host these servers themselves, why should Mojang decide if they do have access to them or not? They could decide it for Realms, but making me unable to connect to the server I host on my machine which I pay for is ridiculous.

i find this whole report system really stupid, because most multiplayer servers where majority of the chats are, have moderation teams and we don't need anything more than that as its their jobs and they control what is said and who gets punished for it
Alright, here is how to crack the entire report system:
1: Create a singleplayer world with your alt account
2: Use macro to spam report a generated player that was created using plugins or commands
3: If there is a cooldown, get more bots that do the same thing
I love how many activities you can play in Minecraft. It's like the ultimate buy one get ten games free experience for me. You make a great point (one that I haven't seen elsewhere).
I hope mojang either can implement it with context for the staff and do it well (kinda like hypixel atlas replays but like between games, between servers, etc) or they just don’t implement it at all. If they do end up implementing it, I personally will use mods to remove it or if that’s not possible, I will just do redstone in single player or just play on older versions.
But then there’s the millions and millions of active players. Take roblox for example. Have you SEEN their moderation? Moderators would not put their time and effort i to reading hours of logs for an individual user. This system sucks garbage and shouldn’t be implemented at all.
You would need hundreds of thousands of moderators to investigate these reports and many more for the annoying mass amounts of fake appeals.

Although I agree with you on most things, I will disagree with you when I say that this feature IS a huge deal and could see the end of minecraft multiplayer. (AT least for servers updated past 1.18). Because on bedrock you can get banned from single player and multiplayer on a private realm wirh just you and your friends. So keep in mind, on a realm you PAY FOR, you can get banned for saying whatever you're saying with friends. Where said friends know what is joking and what isn't. It's ridiculous. And the moderation for bedrock has always been so bad. When it launched i was shadowbanned for almost 2 years on servers. It's only a matter of time before they bring all of this shit to java

I have some concerns because it is definitely easy for the ability to constantly report every message in chat to be added to some hack client. Another thing I realized is that this might all be an elaborate plan for them to make more profit because people might buy more accounts if banned.
Long ago I had a very laggy computer. When I would play any game on hypixel, I would basically be flying around the match. So it's no surprise I got false banned for 90 days. I was so angry, especially when I tried to appeal it and got denied. This is to say, false bans can happen to anyone, so I agree with the points you brought up. Great vid as always :)

This is the wrong decision. It should as it had always been left up to the servers. I don't care how much of a toxic, terrible person you're being on your server that you own (unless of course it goes outside of simply being toxic in minecraft and to something materially bad.) I'm in favor of moderation as strict or as lenient or as nonexistant as the server owner wants. Do I want these toxic people to be banned from the server I'm on? Yes. Will I leave the server if they aren't? Yes. Do I want them banned from minecraft multiplayer in general? Absolutely not.

1. there shouldn't be a global banning system, but rather servers could choose their "levels of restrictions" so for example ppl banned for swearing can still join servers like 2b2t (since chat is alr stupidly toxic there) or your own servers, but some servers could just not let those people in
2. reporting system should also send 10 previous messages and up to 10 next messages for context and "no ban" should be the default thing to avoid false bans
3. rather than banning immediately, there should be some striking system, so you have to get reported on multiple servers (you're toxic in general, not just on that server) and you know if you messed up
4. this reporting most likely is gonna decrease the sales of the game and heavily increase the piracy rates, since a cracked version at least allows cracked servers (rather than banning all servers) and paying for the game doesn't really give any benefits

imo they should only mute players (e.g. remove chatting feature unless its a command (this way servers who want to ignore these mutes could still print messages via the players doin /say commands from plugins / datapacks or minecraft could just let servers decide themselves if they want to use the mute feature via some server settings)) and not ban them (especially since its paid)

I probably shouldn’t be worried about this, but I am. I’m scared of typing in multiplayer chat now this is going to be implemented. Of course, they are trying to fix the rules based off of the player concerns, but even then, I find it really frightening. I do feel Microsoft has good intent, but if they execute it wrong, it will not only have a big effect on the entire player base, but also the company itself.
Microsoft does not have good intent. They are just a greedy power hungry company that doesn't care about players. The only thing they care about is the money.

I feel like a good “fix” for most of the problems/the main problem is to implement a feature that makes the mods get the message and context, like things that same person said and even your messages to make sure you’re not the wrong one falsely reporting or reporting because you got mad
So the mods could go like “this guy reported guy2 for saying shut up, but before that guy1 spammed GG ez”
I like the _idea_ behind the report system, but it seems like it should be significantly more *optional.*
id like it if individual servers were given a rating of how child friendly they were, and what less child friendly topic are often discussed - cause b2t players will all be banned otherwise :(
i think that they should add an option in the server configuration that activates or not their report system, so that someone banned could continue to play in servers that don't have it active and cant be banned in those servers: obviously when a server deactivates the option it has to be flagged as "unsecure" and younger players can't play in it without the consens of the parents
tbh hopefully mojang reconsider the decision but the odds of them cancelling this feature = winning a lottery

Bedrock is a deeply flawed version, with hundreds, thousands of bugs that aren't getting fixed. Random deaths, instakill coordinates, false bans from multilayer and existing single player worlds are a small part of the issues with bedrock edition. Sure, slightly earlier access to some updates and cross version multilayer is great! But bringing java closer to bedrock edition just makes it a worse game. A lot of people on bedrock are scared of using chat, because random bans are such a frequent thing.
The "highly trained staff" that is reviewing the chat messages often bans people without knowing the context and the type of server it was written on.
Also realm subscriptions aren't automatically cancelled when you get banned so that's a thing.

no offense but as a bedrock player I have no idea what you mean by random deaths and instakill coordanites, sure there's false bans but that's on the servers end
@@bruh12458 example for coordinates: x:65536 z:65535, you fall through the world, and for random deaths something that happened to me quite often when I played in survival was that I randomly took damage and it said "I hit the ground too hard". Often I was for example exploring, I fell down 2 blocks, at full health, and just died when I shouldn't even have taken damage.

Ive already got falsley banned in bedrock and im super upset to see this coming now that its 100% locked behind paywall as i cant just reset the app data
i highly doubt this is a mojang choice, mojang actually trusts their community to run their own servers. microsoft seems to think otherwise. like even just a mute system would be perfectly fine, but seriously being banned from multiplayer is awful. obviously for people actually breaking the rules badly, they should be banned but this is 100% going to bring false bans.
i just hope minecraft doesnt become like roblox, with its nonsensical moderation. i literally got banned because my game was "innapropriate" when it was literally the default game and was private lol

The best part about the community standards thing is that i was forced to migrate my java because I didn't want to go under the microsoft tos. And they do it anyway.

Actually I've banned a person once for hacking in the server and I thought it wouldn't work but couple of day's later I've never seen that person again

Quick question: when you are muted you can only play single player, can you still open that single player world to LAN? It’s kinda like multiplayer
Its not only the fear of getting banned but also your friends and other players could be banned and then you would have no one to play with.
what i think they should do for the reporting system to exist; they have commands to enable and disable the microsoft system, so what I think will happen at least I hope they disable you from joining servers with the feature enabled; and allow you to do it with stuff like servers that you own or hypixel who are their own company with their own rules

I heard about a plugin in wich the normal chat is completely shut down and a new one is implemented by the plugin
The swearing part is good that its in the gray, On hypixel you can turn on the filter and turn it off so its depended on the player of what they want themselves. Now we don't know what minecraft will do if we swear or not
One idea is for online multiplayer server's in the same vain as hypixel will go through a trial period to determine if they're moderation system needs to be overhauled, Where Hypixel will be a no but servers like shotbow would absolutely be a server that should have their moderation replaced

In one of the servers I play in they think everything is spam.I lost a game and I wrote "noooo".The next game which i also managed to lose like 5 minutes after the "noooo" I wrote it again and it didn't let me send it because it is a spam....WTF man

the thing is you could be playing with a real life friend who you know the age of in a server you created and saying things maybe not appropriate for ten year olds but it’s just you and your friend and you could be banned. other than that and false bans im fine with this update, though i haven’t researched it much
Even in previous update you had a message when you clicked on the multiplayer tab that advised caution about all the problems that come with servers.
If the kids decide to ignore that message, that's already not on the devs.
If Minecraft wants to be kid-friendly, then this chat report system is already out of the picture.

The fact that the report system sends some "context" messages along with the reported messages should help. Hopefully, the mods will be competent and realize what's going on when given a message asking about how to farm cane. I don't want to have to trust Mojang with my multiplayer future, but we don't seem to have much of a choice right now.

Also great video overall, I'm pretty much always out of the loop when it comes to anything new really so this is the first time I'm hearing about this.
They should instead make it so you are on a watchlist so servers look a bit more at you specificly and not so much on everyone else and if after that you do something that breaks the server rules you get banned from that server
What I’ve wondered about this system is, what if you get banned and go on a previous version of minecraft? Since that version has no chat reports could you still play?

This report system can be abused so hard, a player can get banned for saying something in a pvp server along the lines of: "can you come fight me so i can kill you already?"
And that can be taken in multiple ways. If thats said on a PvP server then its fine, if its said on a chill community building server then its not ok.
An update like this frustrates me a lot, I feel like its not needed, servers been enforcing rules since the start of multiplayer. And the servers, if its a pvp server, ofc they are gonna know that the message is fine.
