it was $720 in December 2024 US Amazon and I got it for $499 Black Friday deal - love it at that price for my Mac Mini M4! and you can Bluetooth external speakers! much better sound!
It’s a great choice. I have one too! I discovered a few things that some folks may find interesting. If you want. The computer to be in control of the USB-C ports, you must give control of the usb ports to the Thunderbolt connection from the Samsung settings, otherwise when the monitor sleeps, it disconnects any attached drives. You can narrow the 4K camera view and blur out the background from the Samsung camera menu. The expert video setting for smart phone calibration of the monitor does not work with an iPhone 15 Pro Max, but will work with previous iPhone models. Other than these quirks, I love to monitor, and paid half price for it on Black Friday which brought it to half the price of the Apple Studio, so I was happy about that.
Tks. I have been using it recreationally with my Mac’s (MacBook Pro and now Mac Mini pro) for Final Cut Pro and Lightroom Classic. Has been good. Got it from Amazon for under $900 a few months ago and then saw it lower. For work I use Windows with dual 4k 27” monitors, Samsung 5k is better on my Mac than the Dell 4k.
I just got the M4 Pro Mac mini which I took with the nano textured studio display, the Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse, just because my ecosystem is 100% Apple and has been for the past 15 years and I see no reason to change that. I know some details are disappointing (the keyboard feels plastic and cheap and it's not backlit even though Touch ID is a game changer) but I'm happy with a one-brand ecosystem
@ thank you for swift reply 👍 I think also i can use type c thunderbolt 4 to dp 1.4a right? Because if i buy the cable you mentioned included camera and usb hub would not work ?
I bought it as well recently before the release of the Asus monitor for my 16 inch MacBook Pro and I am loving it a lot as it was half the price of the Apple Studiodisplay. I would rather spend the price difference on an extra iPhone than on the Studiodisplay
Thanks for your video. I have a macminim4 and the S9. When I do Factime with the mac, I have echo on the sound. The person I facetime with hear himself. When I do on my phone or with a macbookpro (not connected to S9) I dont have. Do you know if there is a way to avoid echo sound ? Thanks
compare with studio display, its..... I don't know how to say, from the packing to the remote...it's just, no pleasure. except budget friendly!. anyway, thanks for your video! love the way you make video.
Two absolutely essential questions were not answered by this review: (1: Can this display be removed from its stand and mounted on an aftermarket monitor arm? (2: Does this display offer the ability to pivot 90º so it can be used in "Portrait Mode", ideal for page layout tasks?
I saw that! I plan on reviewing it. BenQ also announced (finally) a 5K 27" that will be out soon. I think the ASUS, BenQ, Samsung variants are all the same 5K panel inside...
What good is a 5K display when you don't even work in 4 K just 1080P VideoP I use two 4KUHDTV's in my Living room whils Lounging in my Recliner and with a Keyboardin my lap and a mouse on the arm of the Recliner.
This monitor is a clear case of a mountain beget a mouse. Samsung tried to copy the form and function of the Apple Studio Display but with much disappointing results and, at release date, with the same price. There are several reviews here on YT covering those issues (as you did) so i advise anyone considering this particular model to watch them. Still, the “best” effort to imitate Apple aesthetics, but that’s it.
Well, it is much cheaper than the apple studio display for a reason. You’re gonna have to compromise in so many things that you’ll miss on for cheating out on this studio display knock off
If you're going to pay $1000 for a monitor, why don't you buy an Imac instead ? So pointless. You’re gonna have a quality keyboard, webcam, speakers and even a weird non-magic mouse as well !

We need a updated version of the APPLE Studio Display.
Agreed. I hear rumors of a QD-OLED-based display in the works with high refresh rate and insane color accuracy. A 5K QD-OLED would be crazy.

Great insight! Yes, I saw this display recently on sale for $499 mint open box. For that price it's good - depending on the reseller.

I think the big competitor for this monitor is the recently released 27" 5K ASUS ProArt, which is priced at $799.
Asus pro art is a 4 k monitor.
@@rajatsehgal7004 ASUS makes both a 4K and a 5K ProArt monitor now.

Why in the world do they make only matte coated monitors. Are there any matte coated TVs?
Which cable should I use to connect monitor to my PC?
For PC, use the included Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable!

1. Yes is has VESA mounting screw holes. 2. Yes, can be rotated and used in portrait mode.
Asus also has a 5k panel with more different ports

You forgot the speakers !!!
So, it’s a smart tv, so an actual 5k monitor should be cheaper!
Colors look dull with the screen matte

5K or nothing.
