  • This Milwaukee M12 1/4" ratchet was purchased broken. The electronics work and the motor spins, but the head does not. We tore it down to find out what it is going to take to get this tool cleaned up, fixed, and operating properly.

    Thank You for your video. My M12 ratcher was spinning, just when on load it wouldn't spin/grip. What I did is I didn't dissasembly the head, but dipped the head in cup of solvent (carb cleaner, brake cleaner etc) and spinned it, bunch of old residue, oil came... When cleaned, sprayed light coat of lubricant. Working as it should :)

    Thank you very much for your ratchet repair videos! These were perfect for showing how everything works and fits together. I was able to use your videos as a guide to convert my Fuel Extended Reach 1/4 Ratchet (2559-20) into a 3/8 ratchet by just swapping the anvil and pawl with a couple other parts (49-06-2567 & 42-06-1030). It's not high speed like the most recent model but having the smaller head and longer reach with the 3/8 without having to cut, file, or grind was totally worth it

      Can you do a video on how you converted the anvil?

      @@katobrly9963 I used this video. It's a little confusing but once you get all the parts, you can play around and see which one fits best:

    What I suggest, since I use mine every single day, buy some lubricating oil and spray the head while it's spinning about once a month. They become dry and stop because they can't exceed the torque of the stuck head. Keep it lubricated and it will avoid problems.

  • @grosom31
    @grosom31 2 года назад

    does that mean if the head is attempting to move but isnt turning one direction or the other it could be the piston and springs still?

    • @DEInTheGarage
      @DEInTheGarage  2 года назад

      Yes, but could be a lot including just a buildup of dirty grease. Best bet is to get in there. These tools are simple, the issue is usually obvious

  • @jessejaviangel

    These tools need to be greased don't they? So greased is only needed at the bottom not where the pistons and springs go?

  • @outdoorsmansgarage
    @outdoorsmansgarage 5 лет назад +1

    Than that sucks they sure don't make tools to last anymore.

    • @DEInTheGarage
      @DEInTheGarage  5 лет назад

      Yea man.. I never would have thought the crank would snap! I was looking at it and it is just sintered metal, not forged which is why it broke.

  • @jeffsnyder5456

    Your not using the snap ring pliers right.
