  • Come with me on a drive up to Grizzle Lake near Saint Elmo Colorado! We'll climb some rocks, cross some water, drive through a little mud and then finally get to see the lake! The only other vehicle on the entire trail that day was an older Jeep Cherokee XJ. Enjoy!

As usual Ken amazing photography. As for the FJ what can be said never cease to marvel at what this vehicle can do. The pilot not half bad either. Keep it up and keep the rubber side down!

Took our GX up here a few weeks ago. The lake is gorgeous and offers some great camping!

Hey Ken. Nice trail. Here's some information I heard today. Just talked to my off road guy at Rebel off road in So Cal. I know you have broke an axle before and you're careful with the throttle when the front is locked. He told me of some axles that can handle the stress with no problem. And they come with a lifetime guarantee. RCV ultimate CV axles is the name. They are very pricey at 1,000.00 each. But I'm going to pull the trigger on them and add front lockers. Just wanted to share cuz you put your FJ to the test all the time. And let's face it. Wrenching on the trail is no fun. Steve from So Cal.

Thanks Steve! RCV is definitely the way to go if you don't want to break cv's!

That last shot of your departure is great. Yours must be one of the best on any FJ. What are you considering for better approach? Seems like some of the tube bumpers are good but then with the winch mount they stick back out.

It is true that the winch sticks out regardless of the bumper. But having less bumper everywhere else besides the winch means there is still less to hit. When my front bumper hits rocks, it's usually off to the side of the winch, not dead center on the winch. I do love my custom frame cut rear bumper, I still hit that pretty often, I can't imagine having the factory rear bumper at this point. Thank you for watching!

I've been wanting to do this for years. I hike it every year but haven't gotten my fj up yet.

What do you air down to for this trail? 😎 Also, did you use a drone to film some of these shots? I know you did from the overhead shots but with the camera on the ground filming the FJ going over the rocks. Thanks

I was aired down to 14psi. For filming on the ground I used a GoPro hero 8 on a tripod.

Another good one, I will add it to my list as well. Did you use the front locker on the gatekeeper obstacle or not? It seems that you didn't, how about the rear?

I was locked front and rear. It's slippery with the wet tires. 🙂

That's actually the camera being knocked over backwards by the vehicle. 😄 Thanks for watching!

Grizzlies must be scared, after Morrison pass,
who knows what you are really capable of...
run over them with lock on,
catch them with the winch as a lasso,
knock their heads off by throwing cvs at them...
they are not as tough as you!
even Chuck Norris is intimidated by now... ha, ha!
    good show team!
