After thyroidectomy, I searched a decade, asked numerous PCP/Endo, why is my Tsh & T3 low ? No one had answer, I came across article online. Dr. Christianson answer made complete sense, which led me to this video. Thank you with all my heart. World need more doctors like you 😀
Thank you for this information. In my experience, it seems like the vast majority of my doctors simply guess how to treat hypothyroidism (in my case specifically Hashimoto’s). I have spent years researching this information and I constantly have to self advocate and justify to my doctors that I prefer T3+T4 combination. Most of the time, it seems like they cite outdated studies and think of T3 as the boogie-man. My heart goes out to people struggling with Thyroid problems because of the range of impacting factors that contribute to these diseases. A huge step towards health for me was exercise and getting my diet in order too. Cutting out most grains, dairy, and a range of other foods.
Thankyou Dr Christianson for this explanation of Thyroid imbalances, and discussing the uses of T4 and T3 in different sinarios, variants of daily symptoms in hypothyroidism which leaves one asking the questions do I need more or additional medication for balance! I appreciate your support and expertise.
Thank you for explaining this. My free T3 was 3.1. That wasn't good enough for my functional medicine doctor. He wanted it to be at 4. He dangled the carat of optimum health in front of me. It took 2 months to recover from his zeal. Needless to say, I'll be getting a second opinion before going on any more hormone altering meds.
Not medical advice, sharing from experience. I tried numerous T4 meds, my labs fluctuate like a roller coaster, for years !! Tried Tirosint gel caps, my labs have been perfectly stable for 3 years, very minimal changes. I've been doing wonderful. The key with thyroid hormone is consistency. Before Tirosint my TSH bounced up/down 1-18, now stable 1-3, wish everyone well.
What do you think about Reverse T3 therapy as a stand alone therapy for people who have high RT3 and low T3 with normal levels for all the other Thyroid markers.
You have not mentioned "Non-Thyroidal Illness Syndrome (NTIS)" and how the Deiodinase System changes ("Central Hypothyroidism") to make TSH and FT4 useless indicators of anything.
@@asmajamal6211 there are a subset of people who have had a total third ectomy who function much better when their medication includes T3. This is not always predicted by T3 blood levels, however.

I have had my TSH in hyper level for many years now. Once i was diagnosed with hashimoto's i was placed on 125 t4 but i still felt very bad. Then a nephropath put me on a high dose of 130/t4 30/t3 for about 6 months then i was able to lower to 130/t4 8/t3 2 yr pasted and i was feeling bad and began raising the t3 again I am at 120/t4 and 35/t3 over 1yr now all my Free numbers are spot on and my revers t3 is also spot on. My TSH still shows hyper it shows the same amount hyper at t3 of 8 or 35. My question is this a problem and yes i have had heart issues.
