What "Quiet Time" Looks Like For Me

In my book, Redeeming Your Time, I share 7 time management principles from the life of Christ to help us all be more purposeful, present, and productive. Here's the first principle:
Principle #1
START WITH THE WORD
To redeem our time in the model of our Redeemer, we must first know the Author of time, his purposes for the world, and what he has called us to do with the time he has given us.
We see Jesus practicing this principle in Mark 1:35 when “Very early in the morning…[he] went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Throughout the gospels, we see Jesus prioritizing time with the Father above everything else, including sleep (see Luke 6:12). We must do the same.
But let’s be honest. Making “quiet times” a meaningful habit can be hard. I’ve experimented a lot with this practice over the years, and in this video, I've broken down what works for me.

Summary:
1. Find and read a Bible Passage
2. Look for commentary to help interpret
3. Respond in Prayer
1. Instructions : What does the passage command me to do
2. Praise: What does the passage instruct me to praise God for
3. Confession: Determine where have I fallen short.
4. Supplication: Ask for instruction to live out commands
4. Open Prayer

So much prosperity preaching these days. Calls to rely on God, just so that you can get this, and you can get that.. Really sad.
