Series: Double-Sided Wisdom
Devotional: 5 of 5
Be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)
Today concludes our series exploring couplets of biblical truths that God calls us to hold in tension. Here’s our final piece of double-sided wisdom: Desire Good Things AND Be Content in All Things.
Many Christians don’t feel permission to desire. But Scripture gives it to us repeatedly! In Matthew 7:7-11, Jesus encouraged his followers to “ask” for “good gifts.” And Psalm 37:4 urges us to "take delight in the Lord, and he will give ...

Well Our Lord Christ Jesus is still THE WAY. Men still try to put each other ahead of Our Christ… and profit off it..
Praise God for anything he has given you beyond food and clothing. That's a great reality check. Thanks for the devotional!
Christian Vsauce😎.
Hi Jordan, I just started your Redeeming your time Bible study on the Bible app. It’s good to know it’s on RUclips, putting a face to the words helps. So I’m also a busy dad to my 2 kids at home( jr high & HS) needing time to commit to getting in the word. My question is on your kindle or phone - I couldn’t understand what you said who you use for commentary? You spoke a little too fast. Can you tell me please so I can check it out. Thanks
Outstanding!! Humble about How. What a great reminder (or lesson) to submit our will and work to Him alone vs ourselves or others. This was jam packed with wisdom. Thx!
There are so many nuggets.. Had to listen twice!
Great teaching. Thank you and God bless to you! 👑✝️🕊
Looking only at today's calendar, once planned, is great advice.
Looking forward to this
Good job!
Bullet Journaling to the rescue! I've been using it consistently for a long time and it's my CTS!
This is really good, helped me grow my faith in god and loving and praising him for who he is not what he can “do for me”, less me more god as it should’ve always been lol.
OOOOH what a series! The christian paradox of living is such a challenge but is only dealt with seeking God first! Starting with this devotional this certainly will be an incredible series.
Thank you Jordan I’ve appreciated your messages and insights
"Biblcal understanding isn't nothing without a relationship with Chris"... It is so true but relevant to the body of Christ. Without true relationship with Jesus, how are you applying biblical principles? Thanks, Jordan, for this Godly insight.
Once again … thank you! “For such a time as this” God called you to record this and for me to hear it. Thank you for being obedient.
“Rest is an act of faith.” !!!
Thank you as always Jordan! I have been binge watching your videos and I’m so thankful for this
🔥🔥🔥
Another on time scripture verse and insight along with this. I was just voted in and onto a board. Four wks we voted to terminate the executive director after hiring them 5 months earlier. I felt the hire was rushed, and the previous members wanted to fill a void. Thx you, Holy Spirirt, for sending Brotha Jordan with a spiritual word for the workplace!
Love it!
Hi Jordan, may the Lord bless you from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic! Thanks for sharing this devotional!
You are missing the core action in the passage - to make disciples. Going. baptizing, and teaching support the making of disciples. Maybe you're confusing conversions with discipleship. Many churches are not making disciples, but simply looking for professions of faith. I made that error for many years. We need to have a great commitment to both the great commandment and the great commission. Please be like the Bereans of Acts 17:11 and search the scriptures - The great commission is the marching order of the church.
I write about how the Great Commission is indeed great, but not the ONLY commission in my newest book, The Sacredness of Secular Work.
❤
Hi Jordan, may the Lord bless you from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic! Thanks for sharing this episode, I like it.
I MADE IT TO THE END
Love this, Jordan. Thank you for this blast...a great way to start the week!
Never say baa baa when baa will do. 1:04
Another sensational challenge to treat my work properly. Honestly for me, following these devotionals by the last weeks has been helping me bringing joy back to my work (since I'm now working with something I didn't want to work😅) But with the Word of God being my cornerstone, I can see that today, not when the great opportunity comes, but today is the day to delight.
Jordan, this is a beautiful picture of the gift of work and creation. I know I am idolizing my work when I no longer enjoy it! Thank you for the reminder. :)
It's always so refreshing to open RUclips to hear Jordan's messages. The scripture references are always consistent and seem to hit the mark every time. This message is a great reminder to give of oneself. We all have gifts, we all have something to give. I love this! Thank you, Jordan for your faithfulness to all of us but most of all to God. We love you.
Memorizing Col 3:1-17 this week so this video is perfect timing!! I love your content! I have purchased the audio, Kindle and the hardback versions of Redeeming the Time, purchsed the Vocation Bible School course and also love your devotions on YouVersion. So glad you also have videos here on RUclips.
Thanks for the support, Suzanne!
Hi Jordan, may the Lord bless you from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic! I really loved this devotional!
Blessings from Austria!
So good!
Such an incredible devotional! Really like the practice suggested for this principle, i'm going to try that in my everyday life. Really looking forward for the whole series, this is an elemental topic.
Thanks! I like the idea of reserving certain adjectives to describe God. I too rarely use "awesome" for human activity. And I also reserve and mention to others that "love" should be reserved for our relationship with God and very close human relationships, not food, activities, and the like.
Exactly. We can serve the lord and fish for men within our skill set. Jesus did not place a ban on fishing. So many preachers only advocate preaching as being the only trade God approves off. Nonsense. Paul remained a tent maker and noone came near to his level of dedication.
Listening to this on 5/17. God has been teaching me about the importance of silence. Learning how to Be Still in His Presence. This is hard at age 62 - so many years with filling the silence with stuff - albeit good stuff, but even good things can drown out the voice of God. Great reminder - implementing this 5 minute of nothing principle in my life today!!!
Good words!
Amen brother
"Work hard from a position of Rest"...Thats good, yup real good!!!! Thank you Brother Jordan!
AHA! Moment!! Time management is Worship. Reading your book and going thru the devotional in the Bible App.
Love it Suzanne!
That is so great, I think I already do that, while riding the bus, or waiting to be picked up. Now I know that it has an important function, making room for God in our thoughts. Love it!
"Thumbs more then Thoughts"....so simple and yet, so true! Five Mins...lol Thanks again for these nuggets hidden in the Word..
Let’s do nothing!!! Hahaha another good devotional
You popped up when I was really looking into Biblical Principles on work. I can't balance on both. When I overwork, I over rest as well. I'm always asking for prayers on managing that as well. But this is true, idleness can lead to sin. When I look back, most of the sins I committed in life were done during idleness.
I often forget that God will make us a new Earth. I've been chasing after worldly things, trying to one up everyone, going after higher and higher things and I've been nudged to refocus by God. I've watched Biblically Correct Podcast, and mentioned in it was that our purpose in Life is God and that was like a cold bucket. I don't need to stress about where life is God, my communion with God is of primary importance.
true true, we need to follow the guidance of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, love our neighbors etc etc
I thought with the title I would get some kind of new ways of looking at things. Not religious crap to try and make me feel guilty about imaginary stuff. 😤
