Southern 401: Steam Freight to Monticello

On May 18, 2018 Southern Railway 401 lead her first ever photo charter featuring a night photo session, 3 antique automobiles, 2 actors, and over 30 photo runbys! This was my first encounter with the 401 or Monticello and I certainly came away impressed. The 1907 2-8-0 really shone pulling a 7-car mixed train + caboose over the entirety of the Monticello Railway Museum's for Illinois Central track, including lots of rare mileage for the engine from the NS interchange in downtown Monticello to just short of the wye in White Heath.
