- Not every vehicle around the Roadkill Garage estate is a burnout-ripping monster, as you’ll see when you witness this road-test and meet-and-greet with one of Steve Dulcich’s favorite farm trucks: the Dodge D300 with Slant Six power. It may not be fast, but as you’ll see, you can love a vehicle for what it is and what it does for you. Check it out on this installment of the Dulcich Joyride on Roadkill Extra.

Dulcich, best character in Roadkill universe.
Agreed!
"And the brakes, as you can see, are pretty much non-functional..." ...holds it to floor through 5000 RPMs and speed shifts into 3rd...
I love Dulcich.

There is NO mathematical measurement for rpms
well he lives in the middle of nowhere so chances that he's gonna have to hit the brakes are small to say the least, he can just coast to a full stop if he needs to
RPMs = Revolutions Per Minutes. Nobody knows how many minutes but it's definitely a few.
RIP in peace my comment, you're so original Bennet, and you can take that to the ATM machine!
Robert Anderson
All without a seatbelt or safety gear of any kind.
"In lieu of brakes, I'm gonna use some down-shifting action." CLASSIC Dulcich!
Hani Bishai
Screw the brakes..you cant get parts for that old toaster. Just install a drag shute.
"With this beauty of custom worksmanship"
"It lacks some of the luxuries of a contemporary truck" LOL
I love Dulcich
Oh and I am happily paying for this stuff.
"It lacks some of the luxuries of a contemporary truck" ... yeah luxuries like brakes.
The D300 & Dulcich kinda match personalities. Rickety and may go anytime but still 'functional'
So I saw Dulcich in the title and clicked almost as a reflex action. Was worth it. Now I need to find myself a truck, possibly a dually, with a 4-spd.. lol.
is it called a dually because of the 2 wheels per side on the rear? in uk we call that a twin wheeler
budycelyn yes sir but I do like UK's "Twin Wheeler" nomenclature might have to start using it here in the States.
Shane - Make sure it has brakes lol.
I got an old 64 Studebaker 2 ton dually with a v8 International diesel engine bolted to a Marmon 6 speed transmission. An the rear axle is a 2 speed rear. Lotsa fun to run around in an piss off the local yokals with.
Not required. As per this video ;)
Dulcich is my spirit animal.
Shawn S hell yeah
You made my day thank you. My grandfather jim and i restored his 1941 dodge D20 sedan. She is world famous now for being one of the only ones left. Shes all original other than the paint. 2002 chevy cavilier yellow for the body and 2002 chevy blazer black for the fenders. If yall google 1941 d20 sedan itll likely be the first one to pop up. Im glad to see these big ol beast up and running brings a smile to my face. Hopefully your issue with the truck is solved easy enough. Thanks for the uploads!
Oh man, I absolutely LOVE Dulcich's truck!
Reminds me of my dad's ol' '66 Ford baby dump truck. Drove that thing, exhaust leaks and no brakes, holes in the floor and all, from MD to TN. Good Lord.
It carried about 5 tons of gravel and you had to plan your stops well in advance. :-)
moparedtn no brakes in mountain country? I'm sorry for you
Heh, I can remember more than once thinking "ok, here comes my turn, get ready......ok, there WENT my turn...." :-)
I had a small grain truck like that. Open exhaust, no windows, lights, turn signals, and brakes that always worked right up to the point you got too comfortable driving with it.
8 MPG, 40 miles one way to the dump (80 miles round trip) X $3.00 a gallon for California gas and we are talking $30 just to get to the dump and back. Here in suburbia we have scrap metal guys (in Toyota duallies loaded to the max) that seem to come by hourly and take that metal away for FREE.
Learned to drive a 67 power wagon farm trap wagon with a 2bbl 318. Never had an issue with it and it made this d300 look cherry. That same trap wagon lost brakes and drove through the front window of the cafe too. Haha.
Good vibes in that video. Dulcich is pretty cool.
Dulcich is the man
Tripled its value with all those cameras.
'leaning tower of Power'...have not heard that term in many, many years
Dulcich getting all the love on You Tube, bout time ...!!!
I've been a Ford guy for the last 45 years, but you gotta love the 225 and 318 Mopars. I worked in a tune up shop in the 80's and we did a lot of those. A decent tune up and oil change and those things were BULLETPROOF! Had lots of the creeper 1st NP transmissions. You CAN powershift them up, but never down into 1st. Trust me Dulcich , you really don't NEED shocks. That's a very cool truck.
That fiddle playing in the background was an excellent choice.
Best reviewer ever! No bs just straight to what the common man wants to know about.
Hell yeh brother! Dulcich killing it with that slant 6. So entertaining to watch
I love this truck! Hell, I could almost smell the inside of the cab. Maybe that's Dulcich. My old man had a '68 3/4 with a slant 6. Rode like a lumber wagon but I loved that truck. Then he sold it to someone else.
Your dad didn't like you?
I just love those 225 slant six bullet proof.
Those rural farm roads are actually in better condition than ALL of the roads and highways in California. Simply amazing!
Tell David it's a '67! He needs to take you with him on the next yard tour,Steve! Love this video!
Love the sound of that /6!! I learned to drive in a 71 Dodge Demon with a slant six. I love hearing the sound of that engine again.
Wow! I'm really impressed with these Dulcich episodes. I love watching him in this old truck. This brings back great childhood memories growing up out in the countryside. Broken brakes and loose steering and all. It's so authentic!
I am from manitiba Canada and am getting a 63 d300 on the road. Love your truck and totally love your enthusiasm and respect for what it is. Keep truckin
Dulcich has really grown his on camera chops. And a slant six in that thing? Never would have guessed. Cool ride, my friend.
I was skeptical about this video, at first. I figured that they were going to jump, wheelie it, blow it up with explosives, or what ever they usually do for TV. I'm surprised that someone actually appreciates something, instead of just destroying everything that doesn't have a car loan on it. Thanks Dulcich, it's nice to know that normal people still exists in the TV world.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!! The joys of owning an old pickup. Every trip is an adventure!!!
Dulcich it s a wild muscle cars hero!!! Greetings from Italy Sir!
I too share a twisted love of operating ancient gnarly beaters! Rock out D Man!
I'm recalling my 78 Bronco. 'Bout the same gears & brakes. Thing of beauty it was!
That's an awesome old truck with a slant 6.
Love it!!!
Reminds me of the first thing I ever drove (I was 13 I believe)
My dad had an old 24 foot Ford U-Haul, 1966-67 don’t remember exactly
Had the 4 speed with a granny low which was almost punching the shifter into the dashboard.
Ahhh, I think it was a 330 or some oddball number V8 in it, all stock. (I kinda remember him saying something about it being and industrial engine series? Maybe? Iunno, that was quite a few years ago lol)
It was all kinda beat up and rusty, but I loved that thing at the time (the interior however was actually in really good shape)
But one day when I was playing in it dad threw me the keys (still had that big U-Haul keychain too lol) and he stood on the running and held onto the mirror and let me drive it up the road. Probably didn’t get above 5 mph, but that was the coolest thing I had ever done at the time! I was soooo happy! (Mom however was not when she found out lol)
Ahhh, such great memories 😊
Miss you dad
Aside from the engines low power output, the crappy shifting trans, the clapped out steering, the rusted body, the intoxicating exaust and the fact that it has no brakes and and iffy emergency brake...that baby could be a trailer queen..
Dude you need to learn to live a little.
InfiniteMushroom sure ...and it would still be a POS thast sucks to drive.
Oh man, the soundtrack is perfect!
Despite some negative people, I love road kill, I love the vids, I love the no filter of problems. Keep up the grunge guys I get it :)
Shane Gonzalez nobody bad mouths roadkill lol its the other garbage shows.
I love the top half of the cab. Awesome lines
I am dyin here! You have no brakes and a half-turn of play in the wheel so you decide to run it as hard as you can through the gears. Dude, you kill me!! Best raisin farmer ever.
I had recently had my nephew's old truck for a week. Kinda like this one. He keeps it for "everyone" to use. All of us "everyones" are in love with that old truck.
This is one of the best Roadkill extras. Dulcich is hilarious :D
She's a Creampuff! The view of the hood while driving it is the coolest part of the truck!
I am addicted to RoadKill.
Best truck of the ROADKILL fleet
LOL, my ol' 51 Ford 3tonne duelly, small square-box 3 speed, double-clutch everything. It is an art, but once ya gots it you get a feeling where you can drive without clutch just by rpms. I love Dodge 'Power wagons' style, and the old slant sixes are one of the best ever built imho.
Great vid, thanks Mr. D. !
Dulcich rules!!!! He needs his own channel
Dulcich, your saying it's got all these issues and I can see why you are saying that, but honestly I think she's perfect just the way she is. Thank you for this video. I love this truck. Hell, I love all your vehicles. Lol. Keep up the great work guys
I love the design of the hood looks awesome!!
Back in the day I had a '68 Dodge D-100 long bed pick up, with a slant six and three on the tree. Great old truck.
I am a v8 or a turbo guy, but you got to love the old Chrysler slant sixes torque monsters back in the day, and the wrap around windscreens were great for all round visibility, i love the old trucks
My dad's first car was a '68 Dart with a slant six. He loved that thing even it was gutless.
mmm that slant 6 sounds awesome
multinjok
Leaning Tower Of Power
Sounds like poo
"well yeah, breaks dont work" - Floors it. Gotta love Dulcich
I think Dulcich is my favorite motor trend guy.
That slant 6 pulls that truck along pretty good. Oddly it sounds good too....
Man, this made me remember my 68 d100. I loved that truck. Short bed with the fleet side and swooping body line. I painted it orange crush orange and used a blue pearl in the clear coat. That clear coat had so many layers it looked like you could swim in it. I found a 413 from a life packaged Plymouth in tthe junk yard. Had it bored forged pistons I don't remember cam spec but it would boil the 12 inch wife American racing wheels and tires. I had a baby asnd medical bills were killing us so I sold it and the guy stole the 9 inch and the custom seat and dumped the rest Beni d his dad's shop. I wish I could get it back now.
Do an episode of engine master with the slant six!
Love it. I can all so tell that Dulcich's love this truck you really can hear it in his voice.
[Bangs the hood a couple times] Opens hood and here we have the leaning tower of power...these lines are priceless! lol
As I pump the brakes furiously...to make this turn. 😂😂😂
This man is badass!
Dulcich is my hero
I don't know anyone who doesn't love Dulcich. He's the king of cool!
Dang i love old trucks! More like this please, and thank you!
My dad drove a d150 with a slant 6 and 4 speed w non synchro granny low to over 400k before it rusted in half. Casualty of the rust belt. That sound running through the gears takes me back.
The hood on that truck is just amazing
That 225 slant 6 is an amazing engine. Here in Oz you can get an awesome Yella Terra head for it and a triple Weber kit.
Just signed up for on demand, super cool, and super cheap. Worth it
“Lacks some of the luxury of a contemporary truck”. LMAO.
Bummer, I see you did not get the ultra rare gas cap option!
Yeah comes with a ashtray/cigarette lighter delete lol...
I had a '65 Dodge W200 Powerwagon. It had an old school 318 V8. Great truck. I called it "Godzillah the Powerwagon."
Yay Dulcich! Love these videos.
It makes a really nice sound, that truck.
Notice how he’ll re-upholstered the seats but doesn’t change anything else on the inside
If it ain't broke)
Great vid, Steve. Probably the best (certainly the funniest) Roadkill I've seen. Keep the truck forever.
You know. I laughed really hard at this episode. Just a beautiful example of a farm truck that gets driven once in a while for specific uses.
Lol! Love it! 24ish inches of play in the steering. Love the steering, er... love the steering wheel.
No brakes, exhaust leak.. a little dizzy right now.... overall a great truck!
Agreed!
GREAT episode! Reminds me of a coast-to-coast trip in a 1970 D300 car hauler hauling two 57 Imperials...
HEY DULCICH - Park it and fix it. We want to see more of you and the truck in the future AND, unless you are running a different gas tank somewhere, PUT A GAS CAP ON IT! Thanks to you and the rest of your bunch for putting out an EZ going and educational clump of shows WITHOUT the stupid fake drama. Can I get an AMEN?
I love it! Patiently waiting for more.
I love this truck! I am going to subscribe to the MTonDemand!
Damn sure sounds like more than 90hp those slants sure have a nice note,
Dulcich needs to turbo just to add to the symphony
InfiniteMushroom did you even look when He opened the hood? Already has an intake/carb swap...
The slants had Hemi heads.
It isn't even a crossflow engine... and the spark plugs are on the side.. so even if what you say is true, I don't think it's much of an advantage in this case.
The best slant engine is in the Australian e49 charger end of story
Them's one of them foreign engines. Triple Webers for some mumbo. A good answer to a 351. NZ.
i like how positive he is even when faced with such disorder in the truck!!!! love it!
I love the econo sized bottle of brake fluid behind the seat.
Look at those mastered steering wheel corrections! Pure ninja road warrior moves!
The Dulcich is THE MAN.
We had a 69 D300 with a huge step side bed. It was an old sunoco truck so it was blue with yellow wheels, mirrors, and bumpers. It too was a garbage truck, slant 6 and 4 speed. I miss that truck.
Dulchich... I want to see that slant 6 on Engine Masters...do it...DO IT! ...please. Thank you.
sounds like a good idea except there's the whole 'rod thru the block' thing they were notorious for...but, enough money can fix that
Fran Yetso ...I’m really curious how much hp a slant 6 can make. And I also wonder what it’s going to take to make one dyno safe...so to speak.
The high performance factory pieces would get close to 200 bhp. I don't think any racers took them too seriously after small blocks became the norm
a couple friends pushed one in high school. It was all they had. No dyno but the broken con rod thru the fender was spectacular... We found out later this was a weak point.
Borrow the turbo from the Rotsun and see how much boost it will take.
i would absolutely adore having that truck
I love how Roadkill always promotes safety...😂
I'm a simple man: I see Dulcich, I click.
Thats a pretty badass old truck. Love my d100 and miss my w250
I love this truck. I have driven with zero brakes often in my years. Steve rules
Dulcich reminds me of a crazy neighbour you love to have.
A bit like Elwood explaining the cop car, cop shocks, cop motor to Jake... : )
"....fix the cigarette lighter."
Greatest movie ever :D
I grew up in the grape fields of Sanger. This scenery reminds me of my Grandpa's 60 ish Ford. Out there checking the water levels
great fun video! more from dulcich please!
Pure gold, Dulcich!
"The brakes are pretty much nonexistent, FLOOR IT!" LOL
Love the straight 6 era of trucks. some of em were damn near bullet proof. got a 81 ford with a 300 myself and I love that thing. and yeah somethin about all the straight 6's sounds awesome.
There's no car or truck mechanical testing in America love it.
that truck is true Roadkill to the max
Wow, that brings back memories! I learned to drive and grew up in a 62 Dodge truck a lot like that. It wasn't a duelly, it was a 3/4 ton step side. Same motor and trans though.
