But yes, unrefined cane sugar contains more nutrients beyond just the pure energy that glucose provides. And based on my understanding, refined cane sugar is not bleached; it's white because pure sucrose (the primary component of cane sugar) is naturally white.
I appreciate greatly your perspective on making homemade food while not boycotting every last grain of sugar or salt or fat! Your recipes are also super interesting and they're not all tomato sauce based, haha

You’re correct in that it’s necessary and simply the most basic element needed for life (literally to the point where our livers will make it for us), but the US pumps their food full of it…too much of anything is bad even water. Their is an obesity and diabetes epidemic and some psychiatrists will even go so far as to say that the mental health crisis is due to too much glucose in our highly processed diets

I hate the fact that they put folic acid in mainstream bread. It’s literally derived from the mold grown on oxidized petroleum, and many people are unknowingly suffering side effects from it (if you have MTHFR mutations you might know this.)

Hey Sarah… need your help/advice please… I tried your sourdough tortilla recipe (amazing and so easy, thank you so much) my only dilemma was that mine ended up too crunchy to make a wrap, what could I be doing wrong? I followed the recipe to the letter, however after watching this video again I didn’t give it another knead whilst rising, would that have made a difference? Family still loved it though and I had my own pickles from your recipe also to put with it, still need to make my own mayo yet but I had greens from my own garden to add which was nice as well as chicken and tuna for my vegetarian husband ❤ thank you jn advance for any tips on how to fix the crunchy tortilla issue 🙏🏼
I highly recommend doing a lot of reading about the avocado oil industry! Real avocado oil is better for you HOWEVER it’s pretty rare to find a avocado oil that’s not cut with stuff like canola oil bc as of right now it’s a pretty unregulated industry, compared to the olive oil industry for example (which it’s getting harder and harder to find a true olive oil even). I love tallow and lard, that can be rendered yourself so you really do know what’s in it. Butter and good olive oil are also great, but tallow for cooking is AWESOME
She's already using the best avocado oil on the market, Chosen Foods brand. Though I do agree animal fats are fantastic, there are some cases where a liquid oil is preferable, like homemade mayo, dressings, sauces, and vinaigrettes.
@@Vendzor I disagree that chosen foods is the best avocado oil marketed. Part of the reason the industry is full of so many cut oils is because demand is high, and chosen is a big brand. But it’s ok to disagree. There’s just not enough supply to keep up with the demand. Olive oil is quickly becoming the same. Too many people need oil too fast and there’s not enough to keep up. I have tested quite a few “nice, high quality olive oils” only to find they aren’t pure olive oil before I found ones that are steadily good products.

Sarah pourrait faire fermenter ces légumes car c’est rapide, facile et plein d’enzymes et de probiotiques. OMG, we used to have this wonderful vegan restaurant that made banana ketchup! I know it sounds weird and gross, but it was fantastic with sweet potato fries!! I tried to make it home once -couldn't quite get the balance right with the banana, but now I need to try again and make these fries!!
Interesting about the mayonnaise causing issues to your kids! I use "Veganaise" and have for several years now instead of regular mayo because I have high cholesterol. Making your own fries really is so much easier than people realize. Same as making pizzas. It saves so much money to make them yourself and I appreciated seeing your fries. Mmm Sourdough bread is the best. Plus there are so many awful ingredients added to storebought breads, so this is way healthier to have it handmade. I didn't really know about the tortilla ingredients (I don't buy them much) and that is so sad to me. It is nice when you can read ingredient lists that have hardly anything in them!! Great video! Btw, sourdough starter bacteria dies at much lower temp than youd ever bake your bread. Raw starter is probiotic, bread - not. But of course still its the benefit of the bacteria breaking down the gluten structure more. Just saying this because i think i heard you say previously that the sourdough bread was probiotic. Also, i wouldnt expect sourdough tortillas. Or yeast. Or baking soda - since they are not meant to rise 😂. Lol. Love your videos,

Hey just a heads up, I'm also in Canada and I get that organic sugar from Costco too and I was surprised and upset when I found out that it's not organic cane sugar. It has a picture of cane on it but it's just sugar. I think it's more organic because it's not bleached and as fine as the regular kind.
I love the taste of homemade tortillas, but I hate kneeding dough. I guess I will just have to suck it up and start doing it again. Homemade is so much better than store bought.

Pickled onions are awesome. Ethan Chlebowski did a great video. Consider the way you cut your onion to give you other qualities
