This is great info! As a business woman who doesn’t want to wear heels all day, I find my options limited. I love all these suggestions, thank you Sonya! More videos on Women’s shoes, fashion, accessories, etc please!!
Good to know, and I will continue from time to time to see how it goes. Cheers, Linda ! ~Sonya
I want more episodes like this
this was phenomenal
I'm happy---thanks for saying so and Cheers ! ~Sonya
Thank you so much for doing a sartorial video for us ladies! Very much appreciated :)
I am glad to get your feedback, thank you ! ~Sonya
Beautiful shoes, thank you for sharing. I am one that suffers from this male sartorial envy and am happy that you add that feminine angle to the sartorial world.
I'm glad to hear from you ; thanks for taking the time to leave your thoughts on classic shoes here. Cheers ! ~Sonya

@@SARTORIALTALKS Hey you responded Sony 😃 tks.
Just beautiful Sonya... Echoing others comments, I too would love to see more women's styling. I know there is a lot out there, however some of the French, Italian, Japanese and English ladies haute couture houses create some exquisite items. Would love to see you explore these. Regards Kurt
A big thanks for the comment, and if there is enough interest, I can continue. Greetings from Bourgogne, ~Sonya
Thank Sonya! I got my wife shoes when we visited Rome, they where from a custom maker and she loves them but they are at the end of their life. I'm glad I found this so I don't have to go back to Italy lol.
I understand the end-of-life feeling for shoes -- if they are Goodyear welted, you can revive them easily. Otherwise, buying a GY welted shoe for her in the future will be a win. Cheers! ~Sonya
@@antonsproductions Hi, and good info. Also, with Blake stitched shoes in regard to resoling, these can be re-soled but the number of times for re-soling is limited, since new holes are created every time the sole is sewn-on. ~Sonya
@@SARTORIALTALKS Not to mention, if it rains, your socks get wet!!
In 1998 I purchased two of my favorite pairs of shoes EVER! Each are wingtips, in the style of a man’s classic shoe, in black and blue leather. I have worn them continuously and they make all my trouser outfits look sophisticated and refined. This is a great style of shoe for a woman to wear. Thanks for this video.
I can relate to your experience with wingtips-- thanks for relaying it here ! Cheers to you, ~Sonya
Thanks for the superb products, pictures and tips shared in this video. It is impressive to see how you and Hugo are able to transmit your passion, and always with a smile. Bravo!
Very much appreciated, Yves. ~Sonya
Wonderful video Sonya!!!! Your spectators really caught my eyes...the spectators are my favorite go to shoes during the spring and summer seasons...keep up the great work......much cheers to you and Hugo....peace
Thank you so much, Kenneth ! ~Sonya
Oh wow! Thank you Sonya for this very informative talk. I couldn't imagine that there are women's versions of the men's dress shoes even though they make logical sense. After I've talked about them with my wife she was also interested in watching this video and although she knew about such shoes before, she got more interested in the brand of your suspenders that you were in this episode. She said that she would love you to dedicate an episode about the suspenders for women and what are your favorite brands. Many thanks and God bless!
Thanks a lot for the feedback. I really appreciate it--and please send my regards to your wife. Cheers ! ~Sonya
Thank you Sonya and Hugo for your channel! Always so helpful and inspiring. Would you mind to make a part two of the video - about styling this kind of shoes with socks (type, colors, barefoot?), skirts (length, type of material) and maybe stockings? (if applies). Love your style and approach. All the best!
P. S. One of these who envy men's sartorial tradition here ;)
Thanks for the ideas and if the interest is there, why not? Cheers !~Sonya
I have come back to this video many times. Finally purchased my first pair, some heels from them. Looking forward to trying them out :) thank you Sonia!
Thank you for making content about women!!!! Superfan over here.
Very glad you watched, Lucia ! ~Sonya
Thank you Sonya for this great video! Love these shoes, will check out their site. For women who haven't explored these type of shoes, its a great introduction. In the early 90's when I began my real estate career, I bought an absolutely gorgeous pair of Cole Haan loafers created in Italy for around $200, which for me was a definite splurge at the time. Always wore those shoes at a listing appointment and without exception was always complemented on them. Resoled the shoes twice, before I work them out about 10 years ago. It is a shame that Cole Haan is no longer the quality shoe firm that they once were. Love all of the videos you and Hugo make, and love you in waist coats, so stylish!
I don't know how I missed your fascinating comment of the Cole Haan saga. What a story to pass on, absolutely love it and can feel the aesthetic through your description. Thank you for such an apt reply and for watching ! ~Sonya
Thanks a lot Sonya. Such a great video that is gonna give women lots of great ideas. These shoes are as stylish as high heels ! Great work. By the way, I love the pink shoes.
I'm glad to get the feedback; thanks so much for the comment ! ~Sonya
Excellent video! Carmina also has great women's shoes, and has a nice MTO programme as well !
True, also crafted in Spain of course--I also own Carmina. Cheers! ~Sonya
Fantastic video! I'd love to see more content for women's wear. My wife just started watching your channel last night, I'm sure she will appreciate this video.
So great to read, thank you for letting us know and I hope this resonates with her. ~Sonya
Part 2, please. I love your videos, especially when you talk about women. God bless you and Mr Jacomet.
AWESOME...my wife for the 1st time watched the show and loved the insight, THANK YOU SO MUCH
Wonderful & please tell her thanks for watching. I'm happy to read this! Cheers to you both, ~Sonya
@@SARTORIALTALKS more women ideas for suits would be great
Its always lovely to see you Sonya,,,and now we descovered one of your elegant secret weapons ))))),,,great collection,,,Love to you & Hugo from Cairo
Nice hearing from you, Nadar. And thank you ! ~Sonya
I agree that the wrong shoe just ruins the outfit...but it's hard to find a classic, walkable shoe for women. I think women's shoes aren't expected to last because women's fashion changes so frequently.
"Walkable" is a key word and I agree with your comment about the market for women's shoes. In the age of sustainability, I image views will evolve towards longevity, in the future! Thanks for the comment, ~Sonya
@@SARTORIALTALKS true - and makes me think of ‘pink tax’
As a guy who has upped the ante sartorially with my shoes, it's good to see how a female could also seek out a classic shoe journey. I'll be sending a video link to her for her perusal :-)
Thank you.
Tony
I'll be happy to take a look, thanks for commenting! ~Sonya
Well said Tony, I'll be doing the same.
I noticed you meant you'd send this video to your wife -- thanks for that ! ~S
@@SARTORIALTALKS lol, a bit of ambiguity in my comment...note to self 'must be clear when commenting on Sartorial Talks'. I've sent her the link to this video :-)
I love your style , absolutely stunning!
~Sonya
I have only one issue with this episode.
It's too short.
My heart sped up a little for a second, haha! Thank you, ~Sonya
At least 50% (if not even more) of my classic shoe collection consists of shoes for men. As I woman I am blessed with a shoe size (UK 6.5) that allows me easily find female and male shoes. I love all my shoes, but I mostly wear the male counterparts as they are flat and more comfortable ❤️
Hi and good for you -- question: Do you think the rounded toe is more feminine than the pointy toe. At least, I have found this to be the case. Cheers ! ~Sonya
@@SARTORIALTALKS Hi Sonya, to answer your question, I think the more pointy shoes would look more feminine than the fully roundish ones (like, for instance, the Hungarian brogues). I think, the examples of shoes you showed in the video, are perfectly combinable with both, a smart feminine outfit and with a casual look. However, I've never deeply thought about it, to be honest. I just wear what I like and how I feel at a certain point of time. If I am in the mood to wear a pair of vintage German Dinkelacker-style full-brogue derbies with a 3-layer-sole and a Goyser stich, then I just wear them, that's all. Of course, the overall look should be adjusted to be concise, that's the only requirement I try to fulfil. Otherwise, I just love myself when wearing men shoes ;P. I hope I could answer your question a bit. Cheers! :)
@@blackMZworld I tend to dress intuitively as well, and you sound pretty educated about crafting. Thanks for your answer ! ~Sonya
@@SARTORIALTALKS all thanks to your and your husband's channel! 😉
I live in NYC and love it when i see a woman walking on street in Gucci loafers or a mens brogue style shoe. Super stylish, super classic, and super sexy! (Can I actually call a woman sexy anymore or did we cancel that yet?)
Great to hear from a New Yorker regarding the sartorial scene there. I have no problem with the word, btw. Cheers ! ~Sonya
Not canceling sexy!😉
It all depends on how you say it! With the right attitude, there's nothing wrong with it!✨👍
Hello, I really appreciated this video and was interested to try to purchase a pair of Lotusse shoes for my wife for Christmas, however when I went online to find them it did not appear as though I was able to locate any retailers or any price information. A little research revealed that I may be unable to purchase these as I live in the United States? I’m just wondering where you were able to get yours, and whether it is possible for citizens of the United States to also do so. Thanks so much for any information I really love your channel.
It's lovely to receive your comment. I'm writing Lottusse now with a copy of your message. I ordered from France with no problem, so let's see what they say. Depending on their response time, I can come back here and drop in their feedback. Cheers and thanks again, ~Sonya
Yes I’d be interested in seeing how to order from the United States as well
Love this, hoping for more!
This is the episode we’ve been waiting for ! 🔥
Thanks for watching ! ~Sonya
I love Sonya & Hugo. They are awesome to see with their brilliant videos. They have enlightened me on fashion to a degree I did not know existed. I will be travelling to Saville Row next year for my first bespoke suit. Any recommendations as to which tailor I should visit? Thank you in advance.
Congratulations ! You could visit Henry Poole for a more conservative wardrobe or Chittleborough & Morgan for a more modern look. My son commissioned a suit from Dege & Skinner and loves it. There is also Davide Taube who gives the suit a haute couture look--there are several good choices to be found on this Mecca-Street of men's tailoring. Drop a comment here in the future and let us know how it goes! ~Sonya
That’s so funny, I have a pair of pink oxfords that look exactly like your Lottusse and just like you I pair them with everything! It’s been my first menswear inspired shoe for a long time and will probably never leave my closet.
Thank you Susan, now I feel I'm not alone 😂! All the best, Sonya

Sonya is the female version of Hugo :) Your shoes are very beautiful!
If I can begin to match Hugo then I'm doing something right, haha. Thank you ! ~Sonya
Thank you for this video! I’ve been on this looking for quality shoes kick. Would doc martens or Thursday boots be good for good year welting shoe options for women?
My pleasure ! I think you could make the Docs work with a field jacket or safari jacket, for example. Cheers ! Sonya
Thank you!! Just got into business world and this is just the shoes I was looking for.
Fantastic, Elise. I'm happy to receive you reply. How is it going? Cheers ! Sonya

Almost all these styles of shoes are roomy for the toes. You may also want to try Joseph Cheaney. Cheers, ~Sonya
These shoes are just stunning!
Glad you like; thanks for the comment ! ~Sonya
Just wow on the blue shoes!
Hey thanks Sam ! ~Sonya
Hi @sonya. I love your and your husband’s content on sartorial talks. I would like to get a brogue shoe for my wife, but my question is that can a woman wear a men’s shoe in her size?
Such good information.
Thank you so much Henry, and what a great name you have ! ~Sonya
Putting a plug in here for Office of Angela Scott. Not affiliated, just a huge fan. They make some amazing “menswear with a twist” shoes for women.
Yes the designer for the shoes is highly creative--I haven't received feedback on how "walkable" the shoes are or about whether they are Goodyear welted or not. Cheers, ~Sonya
@@SARTORIALTALKS They are Goodyear welted, and I'd say that walkability depends on the style. I've spent all day on my feet in their oxfords, but probably not for the higher-heeled styles.
@@Lasciatemi_Guidare great feedback, thanks ! ~S
All Creatures Great and Small foot fashion 🎉😊
Thank you so much for this info! I am looking down the road ( after kids) to buys things that last the rest of my life. And will be able to have the funds to invest!
Great news and you will not regret this approach. Cheers ! ~Sonya
Hi Sonya. Check out Crockett & Jones and Carmina, they also do women's shoes in the styles you seem to favour.
Thanks. I also wear Carmina and several other brands, but haven't tried C&J yet. ~Sonya
The mary jane pumps are so beautiful! 😍 So feminine and classy, exquisitely done.
These pumps are also the favorites of our Parisian friend (who also is in charge of crafting shoes) Marc Guyot. Glad you like ! ~Sonya
Great video. Question, do you know where they source their leathers?
Loved this!
Glad you commented, thanks Frida. ~Sonya
I love men shoes and have a collection. I also have Lotusse but You should look in Portugal we have great shoe makers. For example Mariano and Carlos Santos or even Josefinas. You would be surprised.
I am familiar with all but Josefinas. How great that you have such a collection! I asked one person here but also want to ask you---Do you find the rounded toe on a classic shoe to be more feminine (as I do) than a pointed toe, or not? ~Sonya
@@SARTORIALTALKS yes perhaps is more feminine, but I don't mind the more pointed ones, since they are not too pointy off course! :)
I have long, narrow feet and LOVE pointed toes that accentuate my long, narrow feet!!! I feel like rounded toes make my feet look like tug boats. The arch through toe box also needs to be narrow.
Womens oxfords with a slightly more dainty silhouette are beautiful, versatile, and classic. Same with balmoral button boots.
I'd be interested in trying the balmoral boots. Glad you commented ! Sonya
thanks
Very welcome. ~S
Who makes the best bespoke women’s shoes?
Dear William, if you mean "sartorial" shoes (like derbys, oxfords but with women lasts), most of "true" bespoke makers should be able to create a last for a woman. But if you mean actual women shoes (with heels for example), than I believe Atelier Clairvoy in France is one of the best adresses that comes to mind. This largely overlooked atelier is actually owned but the worldwide famous "Moulin Rouge" cabaret in Paris and was originally created to supply the Moulin Rouge women dancers with extremely comfortable shoes for the show. Today, they are also creating bespoke shoes for men and women of the general public. It's a fabulous atelier and the head of the company, Nicolas Maistriaux, is a great artisan. Take a look at their Instagram (maison_clairvoy_bottier_1945) and if you need an introduction to Nicolas for an appointment, let us know. Cheers, Hugo
@@SARTORIALTALKS Hogo, thanks for the info. I was asking about more traditional shoes as my wife doesn’t wear high heels. But we will look into Atelier Clairvoy for shoes with lower heels.
Bill
@@waw222111 Also to include for consideration is Philippe Atienza Bottier Paris (lots of experience crafting for women) and St. Crispin's (semi-bespoke which is more quickly accessible & also experienced with women). Cheers ! Sonya
Weren't Oxfords originally heeled women's shoes, in the Edwardian period? (The heel was far lower, though.)
I'm not a buff on the subject, but understand men and women wore trimmed "Oxoniana" boots from the get-go of the invention (I think as early as the 1800s even before the Edwardian era -- for a dressed up look with the function of navigating difficult terrain). Thanks for pointing out and I'm open to any corrections on my understanding! ~Sonya
I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I also have a classic style, but I wear a lot of skirts. And I struggle with shoes, because I want flat classic shoes, but I think shoes inspired by mens fashion don't look so great under skirts. Does anybody know of a place that sells high quality womens shoes that go great with skirts but aren't high heels?
It's a good question & perhaps someone can share. Cheers, ~Sonya
Unfortunately the only places I can think of are going to the bespoke market. I've also found it extremely hard to find anything that goes with skirts; every now and again Crockett & Jones and Carmina will have a feminine style but unfortunately the goodyear welted market cater mostly to masculine or androgynous styles which annnoys me. They're missing out on a large customer base by doing this.
@@peachesandcream8753 right?! I hope they look into more feminine styles in the near future!
These are all beautiful shoes but unfortunately none of them seem to be available from the company's website. Are all your purchases recent? The range seems very small and nothing particularly colourful (like the blue loafers or pink oxfords) which is disappointing.
Thanks for the feedback, Bettina---much appreciated. The video is also a response to some requests about covering a portion of my wardrobe. As always, thanks for watching. Greetings from Bourgogne, ~Sonya
I love nice welted leather shoes. It is pretty difficult to find them for women, it's the not being able to try things on that's an issua haha
I agree that's an issue for sure. Sonya
Do you wear any classic boot styles?
Hi, I have cowboy boots and high heeled boots, but no, I haven't found any classic boot styles that I like yet. ~Sonya
Carmina also makes some beautiful womens shoes all goodyear welted.
Indeed, I have Carmina as well. ~Sonya
ok, it's off-topic, but your eyeglasses are excellently chosen. you must have given much attention to how the proportions, placement and lines suit your face, beyond the simplistic, repetitive advice about frame shape & face shape.
The eyeglasses are from Maison Bonnet in Paris. The key element being the eyes should be centered within the glass section. ~Sonya
Another brand that my wife owns now 5 pair is the office of angela scott
Thanks, I've had a look, very creative but still classic ! Sonya
Thankfully, my girlfriend and I have different shoe sizes, else she claims she would steal my shoes. She makes up for this by stealing my dress shirts instead.
At least she appreciates your good taste in clothes & shoes, ha!~Sonya
Unlike women, however, many, maybe most men totally ignore their shoes and especially their maintenance. You can tell a lot about people by checking out their shoes.
Excellent reminder and at least one indicator of a person's personality for sure ! ~Sonya
When videos discuss shoes for men, details like leather quality, construction, repairability and price are shared. Shoes for women? No, just endless discussions of fashion and design and sometimes a nod to comfort. As women, haven't we advanced from this? No. I just tried to find one video that intelligently reviews higher quality shoes for women. None.
