How To Reset TCM Transmission Control Module In Your Mercedes (1996-2016)

In this video I will show you how to reset the transmission control module in any Mercedes from 1996 to 2016, 5 speed 722.6 and 7 speed 722.9 transmissions.
Procedure:
1- turn key on 2 clicks.
2- press gas pedal down pass kick down switch and hold for 10 seconds.
3- turn key off.
4- release gas pedal.
5- wait 2 minutes with doing anything.

It was works perfectly fine for a couple days of course my transmission has the turbine speed sensor defective that is attached to the valve body that's something I have to fix thank you for your wonderful explanation and it does truly works, it does reset the transmission indeed!!

My w221 s600 had a troublesome issue on transmission and was worried about spending a lot of money on repair.

@@Astew595 In my case, It felt like it was on a high gear at low speed. The car was really slow compared to the rpm. The cause is still unknown, but there are no major problems yet after TCM reset

I have a 2010 glk350 4 mAtic I can shift it in all gears I can feel it go in the gear but it won't go it just ravs up

Nice video only one thing it’s base on your first 40 shifts after reset so you like to drive fast keep first 40 shift higher rpm above 2500 if not keep it below 2000 rpm for first 40 …

Hello. we recently purchased a 2015 Adventurous TS (2014 Mercedes Sprinter 3500 Diesel chassis with automatic transmission) with 30k miles on a trip from Oregon to So. Cal and noticed driving when driving usually 65 mph+, it downshifted by itself to 4th gear. Sometimes, momentarily shifting into Neutral and back to Drive, would fix the issue. But a few times it lost the ability to accelerate and we had to pull over and idle or shut off the engine for 10-15 minutes, presumably to cool down the transmission. Then it would run normally. Also, when driving 55mph lower, we didn't see the problem. Have you seen this before? If so, any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi wondering if can help was driving the other day and the car seemed to not shift up in gears as was driving it was also braking by itself when i lift foot from the accelerator the brake pedal was hard. Any ideas as to what's causing that, I have just been out in the car again today and the shifting of gears seems fine but was braking by itself again as described above. It's a mercedes c class elegance 1999 model.

My w211 won't shift gears from 2ng gear when drive and position of gear lever wont be able to change till I turn off engine. When turn in can change lever position but after sometime it stuck at D and at times at R even if the lever at P or any other position ..so whats the issue ?

I have a problem with my Mercedes w210 e220cdi 1999 5g transmission. My engine control module was burned and I replaced. Now when I start car on dashboard not register P D N and also the transmission is stuck in one gear. If I want to replace the TCM i have to go again to diagnostic or just the same serial number it’s enought? And if I change the TCM should I also change all electrical plate from the same TCM ? Thank you
Ps: the dash board also no show speed , fuel and temperature.

They have no answers for that except Dealership. That's what Im dealing with
I'm not sure if this applies to our cars (I own a w220 02 s55 amg) but I thought after you reset it you're supposed to go into each gear for 5 seconds and you do that twice.
Hi! I think your advice worked. I had the battery run down, and I think it messed up the tcm. When i went to put my 2006 passat 6 speed into gear, it would make a solid bang. From neutral to R or D the same. Or did it fix itself, not sure.
It didn't work at first, but after restarting the car a couple minutes later, it stopped banging into gear.
Also, all the display indicators for every gear position are now lit up, so, that may mean it is at the beginning of the factory learning curve?

if it has hard shifting it may not help, check fluid level and condition first thing.

Relay fuse three prong in fuse box area. Might have rust damage on metal areas.

Hello!! I have a 2002 MB CLK 320 - looks like the twin to this guy. My problem is the top won’t go down and my trunk is locked. The fob doesn’t work & neither does the key. Prior to this The top on this car wouldn’t go down manually because the headrests were up/ rollbar was activated. My father and I spent like four hours taking out the backseats in order to get them down and finally did it and I was very very happy. I was then able to put the top down manually....... one day I got home and my dad wasn’t there, it started to rain so I, Like a pendejaaaa tried to put it down myself and now it’s all messed up. The back of the soft top isn’t clicked in all the way so you can see a gap there & the trunk won’t open. I appreciate your videos & if you have time to read this and have any advice I’d be very grateful. Thank you 🙏🏼
Ok, first I would change the key fob battery to try unlocking the trunk, then if that doesn’t work I would crawl into the trunk and disconnect the battery and reconnect to try and reset control module and see if things will work...
@@GK7GARAGE ... or try to charge the main battery from upfront under the hood (clamp onto the same fat red cable that connects to the engine stater)

Lmfao, of course not.... What does a manual gearbox has to learn and adapt to ? In a manual You the driver are the one who's learning and adapting and can decide when and how to shift. You can decide to start on 5th gear if you want to, you can decide to put the car on 1st gear while on a highway (don't do either of them ofc) Lol....

This doesn’t work on any Mercedes befor 97
The 722.6 was introduced in 1997. '96 has the vacuum controlled 722.4 transmission.

I wonder if you need to change your transmission fluid, turn your lights and air conditioner off when you're not driving, and check if there are any wires under your hood that are showing bare. That helps also. Carbon build up, and a dead battery?
I did this and then my car would not start. I did it with the door open. I wonder I that caused it. I jumped the car and tested the battery. All is good as of now. Battery was fine.

Pls help! I use E350 4matic 7speed v6! 4 days ago, gears couldn't shift and the message on dashboard " maintenance required. Cant shift gear. Visit dealer" but I could move car so I invited a technician who changed the transmission oil and replaced malfunctioning auxiliary battery. But still I cant shift gear. What might the problem be???
Check your brake light switch
There is a filter I'm the transmission it has to be changed along with the oil sometimes by doing that it will work mine had a similar issue and did the oil and the filter and it worked like a Cham
Check also a switch that is there when changing the oil and replace it

It might coincidentally be the conductor plate in the trans, I had the same problem, watched his video, replaced it and it works great now!
I spilled coffee on gear shift it's stuck in 1st gear will not shift out of first replaced synoloid car gear shift work fine transmission won't shift out first gear

Hi i have an E350 2009 model, the gears keeps shifting to only 1 gear and the reverse gear. In an actual fact the gears don't change anymore it moves on 1 gear and now the mechanic told me to change the solonoid value which this is a bit costy for me, can i do the same will it work for? I thought this was just the throttle response reset, TCM is reset via removing battery power for 10mins

Well, it didn't do a darn thing to remove limp mode. In fact, the video says NOTHING about maybe recommending the person have the car inspected because the vehicle went to limp mode for a reason other than just to F with the driver and cause them frustration or panic! Something is obviously protecting the engine. Going out of limp mode made create detrimental damage to your transmission or electrical components if not diagnosed for the reason it went into limp mode in the first place. Just my opinion.
