Yours is the most honest and informative review of this device I have seen so far. You correctly pointed out the limited tilt range. I have still not found an honest spec for the tilt/pan/roll range - Insta360 provide the mechanical range, but not the true useful range. For those of us using the DJI Osmo 6 which also suffers from tilt range constraints, this is important. Keep up the good work!

That is some thing I cannot decide for you as I don’t know what type of contents your film. If you know that you will need the light that he would get the light. If you think that you might not need it, just cut the base.

Hey. Really detailed Video. Thanks for all the info. I had a small question and you seemed to be the best person to ask. I shoot a lot of Food/Cake B-rolls and Instagram Reels. As i record on my own. I want to use the Deep tracking to focus and lock on say Knive if i am cutting or Focus on Some food/ Whisk that i throw in air to do flips / Transitions. Can i choose what i would like to track ? or does it only track people based on Face lock . Thanks for the help.
This gimbal is good with object tracking. You would just select the object.., however keep in mind that here and there it is not perfect… it is still a robot. Some objects will be tracked no problem, some might have troubles

Glad that you're highlighting the issues front and centre. It's a shame that it doesn't rotate full 360. How does this compare to the om6. I have 4 gimbals already so hoping that this is better than the om6

In comparison with the OM6, which of the two gimbal phone holder will be able to holder a thicker phone case securely and is the width of the case/phone the same with the two or would one holder a wider phone/case then the other gimbal holder? With those with android phones, do you know if one is still able to connect with the gimbal via bluetooth (without the app) and use basic gimbal to control basic controls like activate shutter or does one need to use the app to do that or manually on the native camera app (in my case I have Samsung S22 Ultra)? Excellent video. Looking forward to your comparison video. I’ve yet to find a gimbal portable enough to carry in your pocket which still support the payload of my iPhone 13 Pro Max with Moment lenses. Can you try it with this one? Currently using a Zhiyun 5 but not portable in your pocket. This could replace the DJI Pocket 2 in my pocket if the payload is high enough 😜

To be very honest with you, I would not attach other accessories rather than VND filter. Although this gimbal is very small and light, it is ideal for automatic filming. Some of the moves are a bit difficult. If you want to attach other lenses, I would suggest much stronger gimbal

I have poco x3 pro, my phone does not work with the most newest gimbals.. from what I understand, all the power buttons and the features that on the gimbal itself physically can work with a native app camera on the phone. Is it true? And if the tracking mode can also work with the native camera app? I'm looking for lightweight gible that can mostly work with the native camera app. Mostly for shooting live shows, I don't do logging or using selfie shooting.. The next question I have, what kind of microphone for my phone for live shows?

This is really a difficult question. If I just wanted to film casual things for a family, I would probably go with something like DJI. If I wanted to from short films and was into extra lenses, and all that, then I will go with Hohem.

@@JohnDeUlloa Yes, the Hohem M6. BTW if you order Direct from Hohem, they have a code for $20 off. The $209 kit will cost $189 total. No tax and includes shipping. The m6’s AI is way better better because it’s INDEPENDENT and you’re not locked to the center of the screen. You can adjust it to the left, right or anywhere. I’m also planning to adapt it to use an action camera on it too. Because their AI is INDEPENDENT, you’re able to do that :)
@@adz-ql6kv Correct. The m6 is bigger, but it’s ok for me. Bigger also means a bigger payload, 400 vs 300. The m6 also has an INDEPENDENT AI module which means if you can attach an action cam (GoPro, DJI Action etc) the AI will still function. That’s HUGE and I’ll accept the slightly larger gimbal size any day ;)

Thank you Zdenka, Always like to see your reviews. I got mine and I don’t know if it happens to you, but when I used it in pan follow mode, it doesn’t really lock the tilt. Doesn’t till as fast but if a point the gimbal a little down or up, it will tilt, which is the mode that use more and never have that issue in the other gimbals, please let me know if yours does it. Besides that, is great gimbal
Yes, I have noticed a little bit as well. I’m thinking that they will have to still update the firmware as I was getting updated pretty much every day. I noticed that mainly when I am trying lock position the movement I am allowed to do is quite small before it moves… I would give it a week or two before they publish another firmware update.., it is simply still too soon

I already have to many current gimbals. In the final scenario my goal is to have the ultimate travel gimbal, compact in size, decent weight handling for filters, good battery life, and outstanding software. Of course the tracking sounds pretty incredible.This new entry seems to check off a lot of my needs. I agree, the tripod built in is not impressive, but still handy. So I guess I’ll order my next gimbal of the week. 😊
Just be cautious because there is no forward for counterweights if you will be using filters…. I will say this is more suitable for automatic mode filming.
I'm trying to find the next replacement for my OM5. I want to make sure it has the selfie stick feature. Somehow on your walking and running tests seems to me the OM5 did better. What do you think? The stabilization comparison will be in the next video, so I can’t answer it right now.. I still have to film that part and test that…. Just wait for the next week video before you make a decision.
As I’ve commented on other channels as well, how well does the magnetic hold up if, one is filming on a motor bike, on a bumpy road ? The maximum payload doesnt indicate how well, it can withstand rougher roads, Watched your Zhiyun 5s prior, all the iPhone 14 setups, and it has been tremendous help, hopefully you can get the gimbal on a bike ride and test if the magnet does actually hold up. The 5s, has been a great tool to use, especially for what was mentioned earlier, on bikes, there’s a wrist strap for additional [ what if ] Much obliged for posting the videos, From SG
These gimbals are not to be used while doing actions such riding bike… you need to use appropriate action camera for that. It is also written in all manuals.. I hope this helps

I'm new to using a gimbal. I've had a Flow for 2 days and am frustrated with it flopping all over the place. I'm used to using my iphone12pm with a selfiestick/tripod which is so easy to control. I've watched tons of videos again and again and am slowly learning/memorising the functions. How about a video for folk like me just starting out with any gimbal. Not necessarily the types of shots (there are plenty of videos about those)! Blessings

Hey Zdenka, I am thinking of acquiring a smartphone gimbal and I am stuck between the Zhiyun Smooth-5s and the insta360 flow. I have watched your review about the 4 that you compare. How would you say the tilt restraint on the inst360 flow is affecting your recording. I have never used one but it seems that there is quite a lot of tilt already, how does it affect YOUR daily usage. I also want to use it for travel so carrying a gimbal of 600+ gram plus a phone of 240gr is quite close to a kilogram. Also can you film yourself with rear camera with the insta360 flow? Being limited to the selfie camera would be a huge dealbreaker. Thank your for your amazing videos and reviews.
I find Insta 360 a bit difficult to work with. It does require a lot of adjustment which you have to do yourself not the gimbal. If you go with Zhiyun it’s going to be way easier….. you should also check DJI 0M5

It also has AI features (which I started to think could be very handy). The decision is so hard as I am just starting mobile videography. And these cost so much from where I am so... very thorough reserach is required beforehand.

I just bought this item, mainly because of the tracking system when my 10 yrs son is playing football. Everything is working OK whilst testing the item. But, it does not track moving object, the football for example. after 2 sec of movement it loose it. I am not sure what trick is available to track a 7v7 or 7 a-side up 11 a-side pitch. My son plays in defence, but i need to track the ball to the opposition goal too. i will appreciate any advise. thank you.
It might be because the object is way too small and moving way too fast. I don’t think that gimbals are simply there yet to be able to track such moving objects.
The tracking feature is really impressive, but overall look doesn't seem very solid as it is right now. I will stick with my Zhiyun Smooth 5. Great video as always. Did you teach those models the dance moves ?? 😉😂
Yeah, the tracking is impressive…. The build is a little bit difficult I agree. No I sent those kids to train at Muddaritavillelife dance studio… apparently they are very good there 😜
I’m still very new to my Insta360 Flow gimbal but I’m noticing some problems with sound quality! Mounting my iPhone12pm on the Flow and attaching my wireless lab mic (Fulaim X5), I get much better sound quality if filming with the default camera app than I do using the Insta360 app. I’ve repeated the trials several times and continue to get the same results. Any ideas? The Insta360 app doesn’t appear to have any mic/sound settings at all. The basic default camera app seems to work Ok with the Flow and responds to several of the basic Flow functions, though I’ve not tried them all.
I've done yet another trial. Activating the Flow first, then Plugging in the wireless lav, I get good sound. I'll keep trying various options. Also, for the Fulaim X5, using the USBC TO Lightning dongle is useless. I have to connect the Rx to the phone by the cable.
I would like to know if there is a noticeable difference in the quality of the recorded video with the app compared to the quality of video using the native camera?
Terrific review. I just ordered it today (7/13/23) and they are offering a free all-purpose tripod for a Creator kit, a free Spotlight for the Standalone or Pro Tripod kit--but only when ordering directly from them. @Zdenka Darula many people put down the dji as it doesn't support 8k phone cams native res so hoped the insta would, maybe later through a firmware update
Just purchased zhiyun smooth 5s. For a beginner it's a bit too much. Just put in a return request after watching this. Gonna get this. Auto is what I use in most of my filmography, and this seems to gel well with its auto function.

I just bought the creator Fliw kit and i am excited but one thing is missing that Insta360 should make and sell is a nice wireless mic that connects to all types of cameras and smartphones. And i want the mic to connect to all types of caneraa and snartphones the same wY that wireless airpods or wireless ear bufs connect to smartphones. 100% wireless. No wires, no reciever to plug in. Just true wireless mic.

Hey. Really detailed Video. Thanks for all the info. I had a small question and you seemed to be the best person to ask. I shoot a lot of Food/Cake B-rolls and Instagram Reels. As i record on my own. I want to use the Deep tracking to focus and lock on say Knive if i am cutting or Focus on Some food/ Whisk that i throw in air to do flips / Transitions. Can i choose what i would like to track ? or does it only track people based on Face lock .

This gimbal is good with object tracking. You would just select the object.., however keep in mind that here and there it is not perfect… it is still a robot. Some objects will be tracked no problem, some might have troubles

Get the Hohem isteady m6 its better than both, works withoit need for the app and can do a crane shot, meaning it has unlimited movement.

In comparison with the OM6, which of the two gimbal phone holder will be able to holder a thicker phone case securely and is the width of the case/phone the same with the two or would one holder a wider phone/case then the other gimbal holder? With those with android phones, do you know if one is still able to connect with the gimbal via bluetooth (without the app) and use basic gimbal to control basic controls like activate shutter or does one need to use the app to do that or manually on the native camera app (in my case I have Samsung S22 Ultra)? I’ve yet to find a gimbal portable enough to carry in your pocket which still support the payload of my iPhone 13 Pro Max with Moment lenses. Can you try it with this one? Currently using a Zhiyun 5 but not portable in your pocket. This could replace the DJI Pocket 2 in my pocket if the payload is high enough 😜

I've been watching videos about the Flow as I'm looking my first gimbal that's travel-friendly. I appreciate this video. I noticed you use a Moment phone case. Have you tried using the Moment mobile lenses with the Flow? If so, what's your experience with it? Thank you so much!
To be very honest with you, I would not attach other accessories rather than VND filter. Although this gimbal is very small and light, it is ideal for automatic filming. Some of the moves are a bit difficult. If you want to attach other lenses, I would suggest much stronger gimbal

I have poco x3 pro, my phone does not work with the most newest gimbals.. from what I understand, all the power buttons and the features that on the gimbal itself physically can work with a native app camera on the phone. Is it true? And if the tracking mode can also work with the native camera app? I'm looking for lightweight gible that can mostly work with the native camera app. Mostly for shooting live shows, I don't do logging or using selfie shooting..

This is really a difficult question. If I just wanted to film casual things for a family, I would probably go with something like DJI. If I wanted to from short films and was into extra lenses, and all that, then I will go with Hohem.

@@JohnDeUlloa Yes, the Hohem M6. BTW if you order Direct from Hohem, they have a code for $20 off. The $209 kit will cost $189 total. No tax and includes shipping. The m6’s AI is way better better because it’s INDEPENDENT and you’re not locked to the center of the screen. You can adjust it to the left, right or anywhere. I’m also planning to adapt it to use an action camera on it too. Because their AI is INDEPENDENT, you’re able to do that :)
@@adz-ql6kv Correct. The m6 is bigger, but it’s ok for me. Bigger also means a bigger payload, 400 vs 300. The m6 also has an INDEPENDENT AI module which means if you can attach an action cam (GoPro, DJI Action etc) the AI will still function. That’s HUGE and I’ll accept the slightly larger gimbal size any day ;)

Maximin payload is 300g. There is no port for counterweight so this is not a good option

Thank you Zdenka, Always like to see your reviews. I got mine and I don’t know if it happens to you, but when I used it in pan follow mode, it doesn’t really lock the tilt. Doesn’t till as fast but if a point the gimbal a little down or up, it will tilt, which is the mode that use more and never have that issue in the other gimbals, please let me know if yours does it. Besides that, is great gimbal
Yes, I have noticed a little bit as well. I’m thinking that they will have to still update the firmware as I was getting updated pretty much every day. I noticed that mainly when I am trying lock position the movement I am allowed to do is quite small before it moves… I would give it a week or two before they publish another firmware update.., it is simply still too soon

I already have to many current gimbals. In the final scenario my goal is to have the ultimate travel gimbal, compact in size, decent weight handling for filters, good battery life, and outstanding software. Of course the tracking sounds pretty incredible.This new entry seems to check off a lot of my needs. I agree, the tripod built in is not impressive, but still handy. So I guess I’ll order my next gimbal of the week. 😊
Just be cautious because there is no forward for counterweights if you will be using filters…. I will say this is more suitable for automatic mode filming.

As I’ve commented on other channels as well, how well does the magnetic hold up if, one is filming on a motor bike, on a bumpy road ? The maximum payload doesnt indicate how well, it can withstand rougher roads,
Watched your Zhiyun 5s prior, all the iPhone 14 setups, and it has been tremendous help, hopefully you can get the gimbal on a bike ride and test if the magnet does actually hold up.
The 5s, has been a great tool to use, especially for what was mentioned earlier, on bikes, there’s a wrist strap for additional [ what if ]

These gimbals are not to be used while doing actions such riding bike… you need to use appropriate action camera for that. It is also written in all manuals.. I hope this helps

Nah, not looking for per say, filming while performing stunts or BMX / cross road bikes, ( if it was misunderstood ) , but rather, road trips, where you have to get to your destination, say a rural village in Thailand or Malaysia, etc, where the roads aren’t exactly well maintained in developed country,

I'm new to using a gimbal. I've had a Flow for 2 days and am frustrated with it flopping all over the place. I'm used to using my iphone12pm with a selfiestick/tripod which is so easy to control.
I've watched tons of videos again and again and am slowly learning/memorising the functions.
How about a video for folk like me just starting out with any gimbal. Not necessarily the types of shots (there are plenty of videos about those)!

If you are going to be using Facebook app, then no…. For tracking you have to use their app.

Hey Zdenka, I am thinking of acquiring a smartphone gimbal and I am stuck between the Zhiyun Smooth-5s and the insta360 flow. I have watched your review about the 4 that you compare. How would you say the tilt restraint on the inst360 flow is affecting your recording. I have never used one but it seems that there is quite a lot of tilt already, how does it affect YOUR daily usage. I also want to use it for travel so carrying a gimbal of 600+ gram plus a phone of 240gr is quite close to a kilogram. Also can you film yourself with rear camera with the insta360 flow? Being limited to the selfie camera would be a huge dealbreaker. Thank your for your amazing videos and reviews.
I find Insta 360 a bit difficult to work with. It does require a lot of adjustment which you have to do yourself not the gimbal. If you go with Zhiyun it’s going to be way easier….. you should also check DJI 0M5

It also has AI features (which I started to think could be very handy). The decision is so hard as I am just starting mobile videography. I don't want to over-gear to get vacation movies but also something that would not put limits to a flexible usage. And these cost so much from where I am so... very thorough reserach is required beforehand.

After a much extensive investigation so did I. I'm actually shipping this trash aka Insta360 back to Amazon TODAY!
I just bought this item, mainly because of the tracking system when my 10 yrs son is playing football. Everything is working OK whilst testing the item. But, it does not track moving object, the football for example. after 2 sec of movement it loose it. I am not sure what trick is available to track a 7v7 or 7 a-side up 11 a-side pitch. My son plays in defence, but i need to track the ball to the opposition goal too. i will appreciate any advise. thank you.
It might be because the object is way too small and moving way too fast. I don’t think that gimbals are simply there yet to be able to track such moving objects.
The tracking feature is really impressive, but overall look doesn't seem very solid as it is right now. I will stick with my Zhiyun Smooth 5. Great video as always. Did you teach those models the dance moves ?? 😉😂
Yeah, the tracking is impressive…. The build is a little bit difficult I agree. No I sent those kids to train at Muddaritavillelife dance studio… apparently they are very good there 😜

I’m still very new to my Insta360 Flow gimbal but I’m noticing some problems with sound quality! Mounting my iPhone12pm on the Flow and attaching my wireless lab mic (Fulaim X5), I get much better sound quality if filming with the default camera app than I do using the Insta360 app. I’ve repeated the trials several times and continue to get the same results.
Any ideas? The Insta360 app doesn’t appear to have any mic/sound settings at all. The basic default camera app seems to work Ok with the Flow and responds to several of the basic Flow functions, though I’ve not tried them all.
Hm…. That is some thing I haven’t really encountered, so I cannot really answer this. I will have to look into that and do further testing.

I've done yet another trial. Activating the Flow first, then Plugging in the wireless lav, I get good sound. I'll keep trying various options. Also, for the Fulaim X5, using the USBC TO Lightning dongle is useless. I have to connect the Rx to the phone by the cable.

Any way to record HDR videos on iPhone 14 using Insta360 Flow as gimbal?
If you use native camera app, you can use the gimbal to stabilize the footage.. but the HDR is not in their app
Does it support 8K and how does it compare to the DJI?
None of the gimbals support 8K… none…. You can, however use gimbal to film in your native camera app where you get 8K. DJI will be compared next week.
@Zdenka Darula many people put down the dji as it doesn't support 8k phone cams native res so hoped the insta would, maybe later through a firmware update

Just purchased zhiyun smooth 5s. For a beginner it's a bit too much. Just put in a return request after watching this. Gonna get this. Auto is what I use in most of my filmography, and this seems to gel well with its auto function.

I just bought the creator Fliw kit and i am excited but one thing is missing that Insta360 should make and sell is a nice wireless mic that connects to all types of cameras and smartphones. And i want the mic to connect to all types of caneraa and snartphones the same wY that wireless airpods or wireless ear bufs connect to smartphones. 100% wireless. No wires, no reciever to plug in. Just true wireless mic.
There is only one microphone on the market like that and it cost roughly $300.. it is not easy to make such a microphone. Look up smartmike +
