@ It was kind of a normal, middle-of-the-road fight, good performance by both, especially great game plan and movement by Max but I really think if Gaethje didn’t have to breath with his mouth wide open and his eyes poked, I think it would have been different
Jamhal Jiri was an absolute war, but umar merab was not more entertaining. It took until round 3 for merab to wake up and even then he really wasn't doing much in the 3rd. And for the last two rounds Umar was so gassed he could barely stand or throw anything and merab still stood there and couldn't get anything on the feet or top control it was honestly such a bad fight.
Do you just judge fights by wars on the feet? Surely the drama of the fight is what makes a good fight. Even Joe said Merab vs Umar is one of the best fights he’s ever seen
@Lepresident-r4k Look I'll be 100% honest here. I am totally biased, I hate Merab and I don't much care for Umar so the drama into the fight wasn't doing much for me. So I'm just judging what I saw in the octogon. And I have to say I was not super entertained. Trust me I have an appreciation for good grappling and enjoy when fighters mix it up. (Ex from the same card: the Rdr Kevin Holland fight was entertaining to me because I got to see how RDR's jiu jitsu stacks up against a UFC black belt. In that fight Rdr showed some nice ground and pound elbows as well as good back control and he hit that cool rollover to go from falling off the top to having Kevin's back completely taken) My problem with the Merab fight is that it just wasn't exciting on the feet or the ground. Because Umar and Merab are such low output strikers they weren't really doing to much on the feet, there where some nice exchanges in the first 3 but nothing insane. And as the fight dragged on and Umar looked like a dead man walking instead of drowning him in volume or smothering him with top control Merab still was just shooting and failing takedowns, and even when he did manage to get Umar down he popped right back up. I just don't get much entertainment out of watching literally nothing happening in the cage. If some people find just spamming takedowns with no intent to do any damage until your opponent is too tired to fight back entertaining that's fine I just didn't see how it compares to Max Justin, which is overrated but is still a clean performance from Max start to finish with an exciting cherry on top.
@@griffinbrock9077 if max gaethji doesn’t have the finals 10 seconds no one would still be talking about that fight. Also I was screaming my lungs out watching Merab vs Umar, we finally got to see the Nurmagomedov lineage be done how they be doing others for sooo long and we have had to accept well since their last name is that it means they are better than everyone else and for Merab to completely pants Umar in the middle of the cage while show boating like he’s fighting an unranked scrub was amazing to watch and if you listen to the crowd that’s the loudest they were for any fight on the night by far. Cause they were seeing something so unexpected. Umar literally using his whole body to try and drag Merab to the ground while Merab with just his base stuffing if and tainting to crowd. Thats what fight of the years is all about. And to see Merab slowly break Umar (I was still worried in the 5th Umar might take em down and hold him their) but for Merab to push him to the ground like a scrub while pointing at em making him look so ameutur. I never thought I’d see the day a Nurmagomedov looks like (just another fight) and I got to experience that. Made me feel a whole lotta more things than max gaethji outside the last 10 seconds. (Also even Dana gave it fotn over hill vs Jiri) I’m guessing cause of how wild the crowd was for it round 3 onwards
@Lepresident-r4k I understand why it was impactful because a lot of fans have been waiting years for a nurmagomedov loss. However I don't think I'll ever call someone showboating and unable to get a dominant position making someone look like an amateur. If he really made Umar look like an unranked scrub he would have either subbed him real quick or held him down for 25 minutes. He couldn't do either. Like I said earlier his fight style really rubs me the wrong way because (to me) it's even worse than lay and pray.
What a shit take😂 bro wanted to sound like a hardcore fan but in reality made the most casual “i think different” mma take i have ever seen on the internet.
Not rage bait I just don’t need Dana telling me what fights are good or not. I don’t even think max vs gaethji was the best fight at ufc 300 😉 By the way listen to the crowd reaction for these fights outside the last 10 seconds for max vs gaethji the other two fights clear
This is why you have 200 subscribers. This take blows
Right, I wish the fight happened with no eye pokes and a lightning-in-a-bottle nose break. I don’t know if Max wins that fight
Also once gaethji got his nose broke he didn’t have any danger of finishing max so it was kinda a snooze to watch

People be acting like it’s the run away fight of the year but for the most part watched sitting on their hands
Eye pokes lol
Boy your really on that 🪨

You don’t think Rogan is a casual tho right? He also said Merab Umar is one of the best fights he’s ever seen
