At first you’d think the show was trying to teach people to not judge based on looks but it went in a totally different direction.

the entire world judges each other by their looks, with age we just become better at pretending we don't.
Maybe she's just a really bad lab partner and nothing to do with looks.
This will forever be one of my favorite shows from 90s.

@@vervideosgiros1156 I hope so too. On the other hand: it is a early 90's serie, nowadays they wouldn't even dare to show this kind of bodyshaming... But it really did upset me a bit. Maybe it was not becaus the girl was chubby or poorly dressed (classism), but because she was mean or a bully? But then again: There is no way the audience could know.
Well, as I said, this show is from the early 90s and nowadays series are more respectfull.
@@Spinnradler It isn't just the fact that they show a chubby girl as something to mock, but the fact that they find it ok or "normal" for a person to not want to make friends with another person because she's fat! It's desrespectul, as you said and of course it's what's more serious, but besides that, it's pretty stupid and shallow! What's the purpose on choosing someone to be your friend because of Beauty or because you're fit? Like if a person was a decorative piece to be pleasurable for the eyes!🥺

Never understood why Andrea got mad at this; Brandon was a sports writer. Perhaps the "alternative" story should have been an expose on under-the-table money to West Beverly recruits, or something else sports-related.
Andrea is extremely insecure. So she has to be extra to show she's not, and in control.

@@selenachan4230 100%, but the example used by the writers was bad. Brandon would have preferred writing about the down-on-his-luck, handicapped football team manager than toxic waste; he was into sports and was a sports editor.

And other girls are in late 20s but playing a role of a high school student… I never understood about this. I finished this show and watching this makes me want to rewatch it, honestly one of my favorite shows.

i don't remember the classroom scene but I do remember when Brandon first met to Andrea and I thought she was a teacher since she looks older.
I didn't think she looks older. Only after 2 or 3 seasons, when she changed style she start looks older than others.
The actress that play Andrea was 29 years old playing a sophomore in 1990.
I think she is older than them in real life. She has ALWAYS reminded me of Barbara Streisand.

This takes me back to middle school watching this show with my mom. She loved it, I just watched because I thought Kelly was hot. Funny thing is now I find Brenda far more attractive. Young boys dream skinny blond, old mans dream the brunet with a booty.
Very few could pull off a mullet and look hot at the same time, even though many wore their hair that way back then lol, one is Jason Priesley and the other Patrick Swayze 😅❤

lol that's the whole point and humoristic part of this scene: she said if you don't understand, raise your hand, and they don't because they don't understand even this simple sentence... then everybody raises their hands because they still don't understand, they just followed Andrea like a sheeple, it's a hilarious and very accurate scene. The whole point is that only Andrea knows what she is doing. 🤣🤣

it's a series based on the sense of friendship, for me the complicated friendship between brenda and kelly made the success of this series, and the first episode of the meeting between brenda and kelly will remain a memorable episode and the end of this series ie the last episode should have concluded the first episode

Years later, Kelly would tell her children that she became friends with Auntie Brenda after they saved each other from the hungry girl.
When I watched this as a kid I remember thinking that Kelly was such a bi*ch for the first few seasons. I recently rewatched 90210 and thought to myself how wholesome Kelly seems. Remember when Kelly was the Mean Girl?
Brenda and Brandon were positive influences on ALL the characters. Even their parents- these kids got to see what a happy family was.
I remember the actress playing Andrea got such a hard time because she was so much older than the other actors playing a high school student. Even Family Guy made fun of her. I was in high school in the early 90s. As a 47 year old woman, Andrea looks like a little girl to me and not an older actress trying to pass off as a hight school student.
Most actors looked 20-24. Prob was she dressed & looked 29, standing next to the girls & cast. Looked like she could b in college as their ta
I was 13 when the first episode aired and I remember learning their ages and was blown away by it, like NO WAY!! now I'm twice their age, and yes, they look like kids lol

In the newspaper office scene love all the fake background sounds making it seem like a busy newspaper including typewriters 🤣
The pilot episode was so good, had some great music in it as well. Too bad the DVDs didn't include the original music.
She didn't look that bad to be your classmate or friend. Honestly, nothing compared to what we have in the 2020s. But i guess it was pretty bad in the 90s especially in LA when people judged on everything. Clothes, hair, jewellery even the car you drive knowing the fact not every kid had rich mummy daddy.

How is this show not properly remastered in blu-ray already
They are afraid to remaster it as we would be able to clearly see 30 year olds pretending to be in high school. Remastering would show up Andreas liver spots and sagging skin

They were juniors at first, but after season 2 they decided to keep them in high school 1 more year. So they were driving as sophomores.

What was that Spanish teacher thinking? I teach languages, and definitely you don't do something like that. You start little by little, presenting the new language grammar and vocabulary while facing out their native language day by day, little by little. Maybe she didn't know English, but how did she get the job then?

They put a much older actress to play the ''teenager'' Andrea and it was a very sexist time in which nerd girls were only good to be friends and nothing more, the ''cool guys'' only wanted preppy girls (usually blondes) and Brendon spent part of the series running after a woman who even betrayed his sister.
Andrea is incredibly annoying.
