Thanks Alex for checking this one out and giving your honest feedback as always. Gish is my favorite Pumpkins album. Saw them on that tour. Corgan flicked off the crowd after one or two songs then left the stage lol They were opening for Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers. What I like about this song and album is the more subdued vocals and the transitions from the softer to the heavy stuff. Definitely some psychedelic and shoegazey sounds throughout. It really is an album to listen to all the way through. To me it feels like a concept album (musically at least). Hope you'll check it out someday.
Thing with the Gish record is Billy and the Pumpkins went for it. They held back nothing and created their own sound--sometimes not radio friendly at all. Very ambitious for a debut album and they didn't miss. As you were wating for that explosion, that slow buildup to the drop was fairly novel in alt-music at the time. Regularly used by Pixies, Hum, Failure... I think? Snail might be my fave from this release. Highly recommend.
Gish is still my favorite Pumpkins album. Saw them on that tour for 5$, only about 100 people there. Amazing show.
Love Jimmy Chamberlin's drumming on this track. Thanks for reacting to it
One of their best songs imo
Real
Easily
1991 was a great year for music.

Gish is the most re-listinable album by Smashing Pumpkins. Check it out if you haven't for a while
This and Soma have to be my favorite SP songs!
