Good for you. I was Army Reserve ( Royal Signsls) for 10 years Left in 2000. Really enjoyed it. Great mates, interesting places. Would do it all again. In a heartbeat if I was younger!

It's good to see County Regiments getting some exposure rather than the common Para , Royal Marines , SBS and SAS boloney.

Whats the likelihood of being able to get stuck in on deployment in the infantry as an officer? As a regular I heard its right in and in deployment you can be in the thick of it. Are you actually leading men on deployment or are you playing a diminished role as an officer?

Military exercises miles from nowhere is so boring and hard work, prior to that people make these exercises something to look forward to and exciting.

Hi Paul, some exercises are indeed hard work, but that's how we get good at what we do. Being a soldier isn't easy, but it is rewarding and worthwhile.

Just a shame that lads joined/Join/joining for the right reasons but die or get hurt for the wrong reasons. Iraq, Afghanistan. What's all that about? Worst of all, once they leave the forces, no help from the MoD. Guys, if you want to join the British Armed Forces, be prepared to die for U.S. Secretary of Defence. Because that's who you will be representing.

Thank you for your comment however there are some inaccuracies and they are unhelpful for those considering a career in the service of their country. Our soldiers serve our Queen and the United Kingdom, and do not get involved in, nor are they allowed to, the politics behind their deployments.

@@TheDukeofLancastersRegiment Don't worry, served with the York's a decade, I know how MoD doesn't help veterans. 😘. Afganistan war, what interest or threat posed to UK? Taliban? The same Taliban that CIA created and the same Taliban that run the country now? Did the queen say go fight Taliban or was it U.S. who started it and the Brits followed? Iraq war, did the queen say go and fight first or was it U.S. along with Blair lying about weapons of mass destruction? Wasted British soldiers lives for nothing! Reading the newspaper today, Taliban asking for foreign aid, ironic. All the years of tax payers money and all the lives of soldiers wasted for nothing that benefits the British public. It only benefits the U.S. and those rich guys in UK that decided to jump on the U.S. Secretary of Defense 'freedom' wagon. If you say it is for the queen, perhaps the soldiers should remain in UK and protect our land, for example: stopping illegal immigrants crossing Dover through France. MoD does not care about you girls and guys, be careful what you wish for.

@@purgenews599 I mean you couldve at least argued that their lives gave the freedom of the afghani people when the taliban were beaten back. But then Joe biden went and ruined all of that by pulling everyone out prematurely giving Taliban all the ground back and making the deaths pointless.
