Is there any room to improve image quality of analog FPV? I think not. Caddx Ratel PRO is the newest analog FPV camera and if you ask me, it’s as good as analog ever gets. So if you want to buy new analog camera in 2024 Ratel PRO is more than valid option. Nice colors, good shadow and high dynamic range performance. But is it better than other good analog camera? Hard to tell.

Ratel Pro: Optimized for evening flights (e.g. after work, before or after sun set). However, only FOV 125°! Advantage of this FOV: Natural image, Disadvantage rather less suitable for freestyle. The Pro is really good in the dark!
Ratel 2: With 165° perfect for intense freestyle. Just as large an image sensor as the Pro. However, at night the Pro is clearly inferior...
I'll try to get a 165° lens on the Pro at some point in the future. Then I have a quad so I can go flying after work shortly after sunset... And my FPV activities aren't just limited to the weekend...

You should have tried it in low light, that's where they say it's the best now, it's also got a nowrower field of view that makes it better for wings then for drones.
Oscar Liang compared it to the Night Eagle 3 and the Cat 3, if I'm not mistaken... And, well... It's really impressive indeed.

FOV is only 125 degrees....I would say pro means racers......I like much wider FOV.......
Yeah, snipper vision - not impressed.
Wider FOV comes with a lot of barrel distortion. I have a foxeer Razer Mini2, has wider FOV but distortion is quite significant
@@Sleeperknot I use caddx ratel with 165 degree FOV and I think it has a pretty good image!
@@Sleeperknot yes. that's why I prefer narrower FOV. I wish there was FPV camera with rectilinear lens

Everytime i kill a vtx i'm reminded why i can't move to any other system.
In this shot, it looks basically identical to the Ratel I currently own. Very strong reds, yellows are a little muddy, and the sky looks nice if it's most of the image. Still doing a lot of flying on analog as it's cheap and easy to get going, but I have been liking the exceptional penetration of Walksnail.
I wish they'd use a wider band and add progressive analog feed. that's be a nice upgrade.
This looks great, but I find the biggest problem with analog cameras is the magenta and green shimmering in fine detail, eg: leaves on trees. If they can fix that, it would be a noticeable improvement.
That must have been the shortest production run of all time... brand new and the AE link states 'this product is no longer available'.. lol
It is not quite true "we can't put anything new" on analog market.
aHD is a thing, and people successfully put this analog standard in the air.
Do i think anyone is interested enough to put money and effort into decent aHD vtx+vrx? Unlikely.
But it certainly can be done.
It has some strange image phenomenon, when you have roll bouncing back and forth. The trees look upright, but their angle is a bit strange. Almost like rolling shutter image phenomenon. The viewing angle is very narrow, but for a plane perhaps enough. On a quadcopter this would be way too narrow for me.
I still fly analog, It can have good range and it has great latency and is super cheap

The whole point of the ratel pro is the low light performance...
Image quality = FPV camera 40% + VTX 40% + goggle or VRX with external monitor 20%
