The death of Atheism? What are you talking about? Atheism is the default rational position and there remains rational people in the world. In some countries the irrational make it dangerous to admit you are rational. Never the less, this Muslim in a Muslim majority country is not taken in by just so stories. There is nothing rational about atheism. It is a reactionary worldview that believes in the theoretical and it can only survive because of religious concepts which it continuously needs to put down to try and uplift itself. It is the faith of the lost and insecure. It calls to nothing and offers nothing. It breeds only misery and despair.

Religious people need to remind themselves that this whole religion thing isn't that important to us atheists. Might sound untrue because you feel like the atheists you see are always up in arms about this or that... but to most of us for almost all of the time, religion just doesn't exist. At least to those of us who happen to live in more secular societies/areas. Very different to how religion is to religious people and that mismatch can be hard to grasp from the other side especially if you're used to battling it out with atheists over the internet.
So I'm not worried in any way, we're still here and if religion hits a new boom or something I fully expect atheism to become more visible as a reaction. Or more active which is what the "new atheism" is really all about, atheists actively doing things.

Many deists have a completely different view of God than either Christianity or organized religion. Rather it is based upon the very, very common experience of NDE’s and the “perception” of physical light during their experiences.
In fact, most NDE’s have that perception of God during their NDE.
In terms of physics, it makes sense that God is actually photons. Or at least that is how he is perceived. Photons can be anywhere and everywhere in the universe and most physicists believe they exist forever.

The truth is that atheism isn't about the truth, though.
In no definition of the word, is truth defined as the highest ideal of atheism.
      Nor is rationality or reason.
Atheism is usually defined as a lack of belief in deities or a god, and while I don't know if that's the definition you are going for, nor myself believe that it will die out, it has actually nothing to do with truth in itself.
At most, it would be a claim of truth, and therefore still not a call for the pursuit of truth.
To set up truth as the highest value, and the only thing worth to pursue in life, on the other hand, sounds an awful lot like a religion, though.
Even if that doesn't include a personification of the concept itself.

I find it so interesting that Justin Brierly (who I have a lot of respect for) has talked to several Atheists, yet when he says that Atheists prescribe to "this purely materialist view of reality" it makes me wonder how much he is actually listening to Atheists. Atheism does not prescribe believing in philosophical naturalism, which is where there are also Atheists that are methodological naturalists as well as a large group of Atheists that hold various supernatural beliefs. I was very disappointed in Mr. Brierly in this clip.

    • @peteraguilar7600
      @peteraguilar7600 2 месяца назад

@@cadicamo8720 First, there are definitely Atheists that hold supernatural beliefs. There are Atheists who have stated that they believe in the existence of faeries, chakra, and vampires. Possibly the most popular supernatural belief found with Atheists is the belief of reincarnation. Additionally, I knew an Atheist that was convinced the ghost of her grandmother would occasionally visit her to watch over her and offer advice, so some Atheists do believe in ghosts.
Second, while Atheists can believe that the supernatural does not exist, that would be combining two different concepts. Atheism is the answer to one specific question: do you believe the claim that one or more Gods exist? If the answer is yes, then you are a Theist. If the answer is no, then you are an Atheist. The other concept would be materialism. Materialism has two primary categories: philosophical naturalism and methodological naturalism. Philosophical naturalism is the claim that the natural/material world is all that exists, and therefore the supernatural does not exist. Methodological naturalism states that I am open to believing in the supernatural once the burden of proof for claiming the supernatural exists has been met; however, until that time, I am going to focus on natural explanations for discovering how our world and Universe work.
Hence, Atheists come in three main categories regarding materialism: there are Atheists that are philosophical naturalists, Atheists that are methodological naturalists, and Atheists that hold one or more beliefs in the supernatural. Of course, I highly encourage to look into this for yourself. More knowledge can be very helpful.

I'm a Noachide (Noachidism is a mainstream offshoot of Orthodox Judaism for gentiles who want to be righteous). I can firmly state that it is literally impossible for there to not have been at least one God at least once.
If the first law of thermodynamics and cause and effect (not the principle of causality just the colloquial notion that things that happen require other things to have happened before it) are both true at once then they would have, over an infinite time span, created a mind capable of controlling the universe, something we could call a G-d.
If the history of the universe is neither in infinite regress nor cyclical then it would have to have had the odds of it popping into existence or not, pre-supposing a calculation and therefore a mind capable of controlling an entire universe, something we could call a God.
If neither are true then cause and effect and energy were joined at a specific point in time in the past by something capable of ordering two universes with stable, eternal natures, things that cannot change without the exercise of powerful will by definition, something we could call a God.
The atheism of the gaps is going extinct in our lifetime.

Gracias.

Being an atheist is the opposite to sitting on the fence, by choosing to think for one’s self and see reality the way it actually is.. as for the drivel in this video, all I see is the usual desperate justification to believe.. and trying to diminish non belief in this manner only highlights how chronically insecure the faithful are becoming as more and more start to wake up.. they were always going to push back hard and it will only get worse as their numbers go down.. I like John’s podcasts, except for this fundamentalist nonsense.. I find it quite childish and tedious.

Judging by the comments, a lot of angry butthurt atheists got triggered by this video.

I would say more that the title isn’t supported and atheism is alive.

Atheism is what we will all be soon. If we survive long enough. God is on his last legs, and he won't be making a comeback.💯👌

If God was on his last legs, would you have been here in this comment section making that assertion?

The new religion is the worship of Self in the form of wokeness. The worship of Identity.
I’d rather deify something truly transcendent than believe that human beings are that transcendence.

Interesting statement. I, too, am a lapsed Christian. I became dissolutioned with the church and those that pretend to preach the Gospel. That said my faith is still strong and my love of God is undiminished. My love for 'man' is debatable.

I don’t believe in a God - I do however believe in a collective moral code that genius humans compiled into text.
Text meant for a bygone era, perhaps in need of necessary modernisation… In that we must try to inspire our youth to take a modern glance at?
God is you at your best, god is me when I aim to be a higher person - god is a collective spirit that we all might want to aspire towards. The idea that there is a man in the sky just doesn’t fit with the scientific world - it could be considered as pie in the sky as being a [woke] two spirit fudge cake. 👍
