    The bibles says that God reveals the mysteries of the kingdom to his friends. The main problem scientist have is that they want to force God to speak to them and show himself when they have no intention of truly knowing him, they just want to prove a point. The point is God will not reveal himself to you because you don't want him. The Holy Spirit is awesome and I wouldn't give him up for nothing. He is the one who confirms God in my life. Again the Holy Spirit comes to those who believe not to those who have disbelieve and need to physically see to believe.

      ***** Well if you think that you are the product of evolution from apes then how do you explain that your DNA is unique? We are a different species with emotions and intelligence......and we are loved unconditionally by this God that and God has given us rational thought and if you studied his word would show you God is alive and well and all powerful.

      *****
      "Any sentence that starts with 'the bible says' automatically looses any credit for a rational argument or reason."
      Really?
      My 1st question to you is this:
      How can you make such a rash comment when you have not even read the "Bible"?
      My second question:
      Forget about the personalities such as "Jesus", Moses, Abraham etc (with whom you seem to have problems) are you saying that the geographical and archaeological findings and the migration of the ancient peoples as described, make the "Bible" lose any credit for rational geographical and archaeological argument or reason?
      My 3rd question.
      Are you suggesting that the ancient historical and archaeological findings are based on a myth or lie and that they are historically untestable?
      Are you denying ANY historical evidence which routinely includes ancient literature, business records, and government documents, analysed in conjunction with linguistics, geography, and archaeological analysis of physical objects (pottery, coins, remains of buildings, etc.), using forensic science techniques?
      Are you denying that after many millions of man-hours of research and evidence analysis, archaeology has repeatedly confirmed the reliability of the accuracy regarding the historicity of the Bible?
      Are you denying the findings of some of the greatest 20th-century archaeologists such as, William F. Albright and Nelson Glueck, who both lauded the Bible (even though they were non-Christian and secular in their training and personal beliefs) as being the single most accurate source document from history. Over and over again, the Bible has been found to be accurate in its places, dates, and records of events?
      I guess you ARE in denial my friend. Why? Because it is simply based on my 1st question to you!
      .

    • @bakgatfromgb
      @bakgatfromgb 9 лет назад +1

      ***** "Your full of hot air Bruce."
      How can that be? I am merely asking questions.
      "Any credible scientist would be laughed right out of the room if they claimed the Bible was historically accurate."
      Oh..... and a "credible" scientist is more knowledgeable than an acclaimed archaeologist and historian!!!! Hmmmm....so we don't need historians and archaeologists..... the so called evolution of science will do it all.
      What has science got to do with the issue of this topic? I said nothing about science. The issue was the accuracy of the bible based on history and archaeology,
      As if to suggest that science does not need the "services" of historians and archaeologists. DEAD WRONG. We don't need science or scientists to tell us that ancient people built temples any more than we need scientists to tell us about the history of the Battle of Waterloo which happened 200 years ago to this day.
      Well let me tell you my friend. History and archaeology are undeniable facets of the evolutionary process, whether you like it or not.

    As a child, when my soul was new, awake, and ready to learn, my parents told me about Jesus, they also told me about Santa Claus and the tooth fairy. As I grew older I began to learn more about these and and the story of God's love and how He sent his Son Jesus to offer me His unconditional love and eternal life rang true in my soul, I could feel it. Santa and the tooth fairy did not, they had no substance. The Bible is accepted by my very skeptical soul as the truth.

      Experiencing God by the person of Jesus Christ who by the death on the cross forgave my sins when I was still a sinner like you and the rest of humanity and was raised from the dead to give us eternal life and soon to be back to judge the dead and the living. I understand if you criticize me, I was like you before until I found myself on a very desperate moment came to my life and I found needing a savior. Mark Lozada Not to be disrespectful,but you must see how your testimony is likely to be questioned due to your admission that your belief came at a "very desperate" (aka: emotionally vulnerable) time in your life. All the same information was available to you prior to your time of desperation.

    • @markusvhane5087
      @markusvhane5087 9 лет назад +3

      @PaulNStein
      When a person was blind of his sin at that time he is blind and that's the reality of it. I just made a comment to Starfox's comment. This is not all my testimony. God has so changed my life inside and out that it's not enough for me to type in here using a cell phone. It's not an emotion thing my friend. I was just simply saying that "I was blind but now I see". When I said that I was desperate it didn't mean mean I had nothing. To be honest I had a better life before I found Jesus, better life in a worldly sense. I was desperate of a savior cos the more I see Jesus the more I see my being a sinner. My friend, I was already a so called born again Christian before when I was a child. Been playing drums in worship thinking I was already "ok" then found out that I'm really a sinner, oh and I was already a "good person" but that's not enough. Being good won't save a person but a real relationship with our Savior Jesus! God bless!

    People always argue about God vs Science. First of all, there wouldn't have been science if God didn't make anything. If there is a creation then there's a "Creator" and I believe that it's God. And I believe it coz it's in His word.

      ***** Considering these People where just Goat Herders, they knew stuff about the Universe that was impossible to know at that time, so no, it's not just some book! and advances in Scientific knowledge has proved this. The Bible was the first too say the Universe had a beginning!

    • @reedoroae9707
      @reedoroae9707 9 лет назад

      Mike Dunn That's where you are wrong, some of the smartest people that lived and are currently living where all believers in a "Higher Being" I fully believe Science can not work unless one takes a Theological View!
      The Rise of Science, Newton, Galileo Johannes Kepleretc where all believers in God, they all believed that materialism was not all that there was.... I mean let's take Issac Newton for example, when he wrote his mathematical principia (Gravity), when he discovered the law of gravitation, did not make the common mistake of saying: ‘now I have a law of gravity, I don’t need God’. Instead, he wrote Principia Mathematica, the most famous book in the history of science, expressing the hope that it would persuade the thinking man to believe in a Creator. it takes a very narrow minded person indeed too say that materialism is all there is! Newton could see, what sadly many people nowadays seem unable to see...... So please, don't talk about intellect too me! Because it's just Ignorant.

    • @reedoroae9707
      @reedoroae9707 9 лет назад

      ***** I really can't believe your Ignorance right now! Religion and God are two different things, Newton did believe that there was Intelligent design in the Universe.. He defiantly did believe in a God. He was an advocate of Intelligent design... he wrote about it. Newton explicitly argued that all of the various kinds of living things in Nature were personally designed by God. His natural philosophy was meant to lead to God through the inductive method. For Newton nature was not the result of blind chance, but the product of a God who is everywhere and whose sight is limited neither in a physical or cognitive sense. He even said in his work's, that science could lead us to God, and for espousing Intelligent Design.
      PLEASE, Go and Read this if you can, or have time:www.newtonproject.sussex.ac.uk/view/texts/normalized/NATP00121
      In this treatise, Newton explains his philosophy of Nature, which is firmly grounded in experimental observation, but at the same time thoroughly God centered. Newton also puts forward an Intelligent Design argument..

      ***** Yes, I believe all of them apart from the last one....
      >> "Do you believe God is white man living in the sky"
      This statement is nothing more then a straw man argument and Ignorance, not only do you disparage philosophy, but also disparage sophisticated theology without even understanding it. Christians don’t believe in such silly and absurd things like that God is a man in the sky. God is ineffable. God cannot be material. The average person would leave Christianity tomorrow if you told him its true meaning was that there was an old man in the sky with a beard who has human emotions and thinks human like thoughts..... Nice try tho... but no!

      Every other person born into a non-Christian culture is happy, healthy, strong, confirmed, and established? There are no problems or suffering outside of Christianity?
      The conquest of Canaan was ugly but had to be done. Yes, Jesus did order it to be done. So what?
      And what is your difficulty with the Ezekiel passage? The two sisters are a metaphor for the idolatry of Judah and Israel in the days of the divided kingdom.
      The Deuteronomy passage is a warning about how bad life for ancient Israel will get if they abandon God. What, you expected him to say life will continue to be hunky-dory if they do?

      Hi Christian Thomas, it is a tragedy when a child or anyone dies of cancer. I had a lumpectomy in 2014, but I still believe in God. Jesus didn't order killing people in the Old Testament. When God did, I think you are referring to the Canaanites, He had a good reason. First, He gave them 400 years to repent, but they only grew worse. They were not nice people and you wouldn't want them for neighbors, and God didn't want them to be Israel's neighbors. They practiced all kinds of sexual perversion and sacrificed their children to their pagan gods.

    If a person in front of me asked to explain the existence of God I would raise my bottle of juice, take a sip and ask him, what did this drink taste like? he wouldn't have an answer. It is exactly the same way with God. In order to understand him you need to experience him. - But the helper, the holy spirit, whom the father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and to your remembrance all that i have said to you. This is why the bible seems like nonsense to nonbelievers, I know this because I was one of them. There is nothing you can say to an atheist to make him believe in God, for we believe because of faith something they don't understand. Most of them try to hard to make believers become atheists like they are not fully convinced on what they believe. God bless you all!

Which by the way, it is something we all have too, and science can't explain either. Have a good day dude.

    No naturalism as a worldview in and of itself is not, but those who espouse naturalism believe it is the only path to truth. Nature does however declare the glory of God according to Psalms and Romans, but natural man supresses the knowledge of God that nature provides because of his love for sin.

      ***** Archeologists find ancient copies of the Qur’an all over the Middle East, and there’s many versions. It’s believed that none of the Medina verses, claiming Mohammed slaughtered Jews or Christians, let alone raped any, were written by Mohammed, but at Uthman’s command. Uthman was later assassinated. It’s entirely possible he had Mohammed assassinated because Mohammed was very pro-Christian. That, according to writings by his relatives. They discovered one in a tomb of a believer who passed away before Mohammed did, and it’s very small, not the size of the one today. And then they stopped talking.
      And, unable to use logic to prove atheism is real, Nietzsche went insane. Have you ever noticed, most atheist leaders are a little weird? Creepy. Ayn Rand would rave against religion. Sagan believed space aliens were coming for him. Mao, Lenin, Stalin were sadists.
      If your father is a Muslim, then you are. That’s their law.
      I have a copy of Ammi’s article and am working through it. Safarti’s as well. Each deserves to be studied.
      The IQ in secular nations is sinking. Sociologists blame it on their lifestyle. “If it feels good, do it.” My parents generation called it slow suicide. But, what do atheists have to live for?

    • @tsiharter6423
      @tsiharter6423 8 лет назад

      ***** Ah, but Uthman wrote the Qur’an, not Mohammed. After Mohammed died, Uthman had all copies of the Qur’an burned but what he wanted read. Shortly thereafter, Uthman was assassinated, and there’s rumors to this day he killed Mohammed so he could take over. He decided the rights of the caliph, a god-like position (Erogan of Turkey is being proposed as the first caliph in over a century).
      They’re finding a lot of Qur’an now from the time of Mohammed, and they do not match much of the Uthman Codex. Some do not have the Medina verses, where Mohammed is said to call for all-out war. One they think is from before Mohammed lived. Mohammed may well have been a Christian. One of his older wives was, and she’s the one he entrusted his own copy of the Qur’an to, which Uthman forced her to give up and destroyed.
      Yeah, wow, but some sheriff is being castigated for putting In God We Trust on the door of his patrol car. One major thing about atheists you need to understand--they believe the truth is relative to the situation. Today’s hard facts are yesterday’s stupid comments and weren’t really true, but might be tomorrow again. Narcissism is a very strong problem with atheists, as we can see from Dahmer and Ted Bundy, Hitler, Stalin, and so on. With the constant lowering of IQ among atheists, is it any wonder they’re narcissist?
      On Islam, keep in mind Jesus is a great prophet. Imams use the Name of Jesus to expel demons and plead blessings. Work from that angle, and that the Law of Moses is for those who are in disobedience. Those who obey God live under the blessings.
      Europe is going Nazi to stop the Muslim invasion. Major problem, Hitler allied with Muslims in order to fight Europeans.
      God’s peace to you.

    • @tsiharter6423
      @tsiharter6423 8 лет назад

      ***** But, many Christians became Muslim because they believed Mohammed. Most left after Uthman rewrote the Qur’an. Mohammed would not have added to the Bible. Also, he made war on the enemies of Christians, including the Ebonites. Uthman may have been influenced by the Ebonites, but were Mohammed not very pro-Christian, he never would have made the claims on the Bible as he did, the very word of God, if you have questions about your faith, ask the Jews and the Christians, the Jews and Christians are entitled to their land, and so on. No where does he claim the Bible is corrupt, but that it’s pure and protected by God. Uthman rewrote what he dared to.
      What Mohammed may have done is to create a book to teach with. Arabs didn’t have good writings in their own language. There are 4 major versions of the Qur’an, Arabian, Asian, Sufi, and black African. Minor versions abound. But, the fact is, archeologists are finding versions older than Uthman’s that are far different from his. But, try to get an answer from a Muslim. But this knowledge is growing common among Muslims, who question how Islam could be a religion of peace and yet produce ISIS and others.

      Back again... Just watched a Hitchens Vs Lennox debate... Not really sure how you are coming to the conclusion that Lennox won that one either.. matter of fact, the debate was held in Alabama, and to my surprise (due only to geographical stereotyping) Hitchens got the FAR bigger applause at the end of the debate.

      How does that not hammer home the point that Lennox won??
      That and he called Dawkins arguments school boy grade...

      A pseudo intellectual, Dr Ravi zacharias(a colleague of lennox) also tore his arguments to shreds.

      Also wondering how you come to the conclusion that it is pseudo intellectualism that leads to statements like
      “What can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof.” sounds neither insincere or pretentious to me? Matter of fact, the opposite side of the coin there would be the pseudo intellectualism you speak of, yet seem to have trouble comprehending. If I make an unsubstantiated and non-testable claim, then insist others believe me, that sounds more within the realms of insincere and pretentious.

But Christianity gives hope where atheism does not. You cannot even really claim anything scientific - unless you go outside of the realm of science to do so. Linguistics, for example, is outside of the natural sciences.
    Take this example: ascribe to the words - not the concepts they signify, but the actual characters drawn out in pixels - "roast chicken" a meaning using only the natural sciences. That is, show me that "roast chicken" must scientifically mean the concept we think of when we see this word.

    Lennox believes in Christianity because he was raised a Christian. His parents were Christian, they told him they loved him and god loved him etc. He maintained his belief after he developed his intellect because he likes the idea of a Christian world with a loving Christian god, not because it makes sense. Sad to see such a man succumb to wishful thinking.

    • @stillwill2215
      @stillwill2215 10 лет назад +5

      much the same can be said, and truthfully so, about evolution with it's "proofs' continually being proven false; example: Nebraska Man- found upon investigation to be built up from a pig's tooth [yes, a pig's tooth, that's all it was] and lots of imagination and wishful thinking. follows the same pattern as peking man.. Lucy[a three foot tall chimpanzee], peking man.. and on and on...

    • @floydmorden9137
      @floydmorden9137 10 лет назад

      stillwill2215
      If you think evolution is continually being proved wrong then you are way out of touch. Ask any scientist. There have been a few hoaxes but it really isn't "and so on and so on." They are relatively rare. There is a massive amount of evidence for evolution and if you think that most of it is a sham and is constantly being proved wrong then you must be reading mostly Christian based news.

    • @floydmorden9137

      Is evolution atheistic? Not by common terminology. Of course atheism means "without theism" so by that def then it is atheistic. But by common terms the theory of Darwinian Evolution is agnostic. Agnosticism flies in the face of Christianity tho. And when I made my comment I was arguing against Stillwill2215 who seems to be a Christian and argues that evolution is a hoax.

    • @floydmorden9137
      @floydmorden9137 10 лет назад

      English Channeled Very good point. Officially, agnosticism holds that we can never know if there is a god or not, and Darwinian Evolution does not make that kind of claim. But its hard to imagine an "ardent theist" who believes in Evolution. I mean it must be the kind of ardent theist that strongly believes the stories in the bible are to be viewed as metaphor. These kind of theist don't strike me as being very ardent.

    • @floydmorden9137
      @floydmorden9137 10 лет назад

      English Channeled
      But you have to factor in the specifics. For example, homosexuality. The bible says that it is a sin, but Darwinian Evolution says it is ingrained into the genome. Why would god create people who are naturally predisposed to sin? Why would god say it is man's duty to be fruitful and multiply, and create sinners who are incompatible with this proclamation? It flies in the face of reason. Darwinian Evolution is a product of reason, while theism is incompatible with reason alone. And BTW I agree with Hugh Min that humor is possibly the highest pursuit of humanity.

    The fact that Christian god "always existed" doesn't preclude the possibility that it was created. For example there may be a Primary God, which abilities include modifying the past. Thats a surprise.
    Pain is unavoidable in life, but suffering involves a decision.
    Its rarely a direct decision, children usually suffer from decisions their parents made.

    I truly admire Prof Lennox for his intellectually correlating science and God. ......When it comes to the last question that was asked by one of his audience regarding to the suffering of innocent people in this world, he was trying his best even though he did not answered it convincingly that God did not allow suffering but the free choice of human beings......... Regardless a person is innocent or not, if his/her ancestry had some kind of demonic influence, that demonic spirit will be inherited by that innocent person, and could result him/her in suffering of a flesh if not in soul. This is hard to explain it scientifically but spiritually.

    1. Biological awareness: Your basic senses, sight, hearing, touch etc
    2. Social awareness: Group awareness, the 'subjective', empathy, compassion, religion, conformity/originality etc
    3. Intellectual awareness: Conceptual understandings, abstractions, the 'objective', science, theology, truth etc.

    A priori knowledge is independent from any experience. I got all my knowledge about God from various sciences; archaeology, geology, biology, etc., and then secular history, legal evidential analysis and then finally Biblical history, and prophetic history, which may not be a science but it's certainly compelling when it's always accurate. From all of these I came to the conclusion that God existed and that the Judaean God was the one who was always correct. I was not raised in a Christian home. I got my evidence first, then faith, and then first hand experience of what God can do in a life that has submitted itself to Him and does their best to be obedient. Because the Bible states that you will only see the power of God in those two things; submission and obedience. And I did. I absolutely adore John Lennox and thoroughly enjoy listening to his interviews and debates.

    I am a Christian of Lutheran persuasion, so the God-question is resolved in my own mind, but the issue -- pro and con -- has always interested me. The ubiquitous use of human language reveals the presence of the metaphysical (spiritual) realm all around us because even scientists are forced to dip into this realm of meaning to give precision to their own terminology when they try to explain things. Christ is Logos, or source of all meaning. When you speak, it's His breath you breathe.

    To put it a little differently, I see a very successful metaphysics (MOQ) able to incorporate mysticism and bridge the gap between Eastern and Western thought.
    Although Pirsig provides rational underpinnings in his metaphysics, for the truth of it to be apparent you need to be guided by your own sense of quality, which leads you where you need to go. Reason/rationality in this scenario is more your servant.

    Klingon philosophy is not seriously going to explain much but its fun.

    I really liked your answer this time. Especially that "yet". That is how we progress as a species!
    I would venture that is the answer to "Is there a God?" -> "We don't know. Yet."
    I completely agree with your argument on uncaused entities too. But I would go one further and say that "Everything needs to be caused" is an untenable position. So we are basically left with accepting both the uncaused universe, and the uncaused God as viable.

    Well, then, we must also say Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, and indeed a vast amount of ancient knowledge was all made up by medieval scholars, because very often the only surviving copies of works we have by or about them come from the Middle Ages.
    There is a science which examines manuscripts, and dates the original versions based on the contents of the copies, and purports the original contents based on the copies. There are hundreds of fragments and copies of the NT, many 1800 years old.

    If I went to a mall to convert people, because I loved Jesus, but Im very ignorant of science and hard questions etc, and some poeple I talk to in the mall challenge me by posing difficult questions that I cannot answer, which would probably cause those people to be less likely to become saved, then I still dont think I would be punished. That wouldnt make sense, you are punished by the motives of your actions, not the actions themselves.

    He's not claiming it for himself. He simply clarified in the context of a metaphysics of his own. His metaphysics has greater explanatory power than what we accept at the moment. It was demonstrating that the data don't change but remain consistent under the new way of looking at things.
    Okay, the last sentence of mine was clumsy, the important thing is to understand the highest principle involved, in this case Quality, is undefined but knowable.

    Understanding your own subjective properly is the door to understanding other people and their subjective.
    "All the mind does is sense the real world and think."
    But you are aware of more than this through your combined faculties, reason is just one human characteristic. Actually, John Ralston Saul identifies six qualities as common to all people: common sense, ethics, imagination, intuition, memory, and reason. (from "On Equilibrium")

    Is anyone else offended that they think Christianity is the sole reason for western civilization when Rome was of far greater importance, or that only Christians had education centers, or that they were the only reason why science developed despite the fact that science developed all over the world and that someone's belief does not define the field because its a shared body of knowledge.

    Any person who tells the Christians , Jews & Muslims that God & Science are mutually exclusive because we can not believe in both is not only on thin ice but drowning under it. For those who believe in God the Creator we see him as the Author of Science & Life & all the constructs that He created from the foundations of the Earth. In the bigger picture He is greater than the Science that He created but in being so He will continue to use the rules of Science that He created to His Will.

    @MakingSandwich1 " What else do we need to know? "
    - Well.. let's see...
    We need to know..
    Whether causation even works without a temporal relationship
    Whether absolute " nothing " is even possible
    Whether the non-intuitive nature of quantum physics provides more answers
    Whether virtual particles provide a model of creation
    Whether our problems with infinity are simply paradoxes that have a solution
    Whether there are other universe with different laws
    But you know all this.. Right?

    Which all boils down to your constant mantra that nothing that takes subjective realities seriously should be taken seriously, no matter that anybody should report to the contrary.

    There is a flaw in the reasoning "the universe appeared, therefore it must have a cause, which is God, but God doesn't need a cause because god exists outside time, time being created together with the universe" If time appeared with the universe, then the creation of the universe was itself outside time, and therefore the creation of the universe doesn't need a cause in the same way as God does not. Actually the concept of cause and effect, or creation, can only be understood if time exists.
