You know I just found out about Cholas in a little detail... thanks to the colonized NCERT books... never even knew much about them...can't believe such a glorious kingdom existed in our country and extended overseas.
History is strange and so interconnected.. The southern part of India (what we now call as Tamilnadu, Kerala and karnataka and parts of present Andhra too) has been ruled by several kingdoms and dynasties of various origins - dynasties of telugu, marathi and even kannada origins.. Within cholas there are many categories and Chalukyas have marriage alliances with cholas too... Raja raja narendra of the telugu Chalukyas married his daughter and sent a lot of retinue down south... Later this originated in the chola dynasty in the thanjavur area... Similarly, the pallavas, nayaks, satavahanas and ikshvakus, vishnukundins etc... Migration happened later too around the 15th - 16th centuries and many migrated to the parts of present Tamilnadu and kerala...

I am from Bengal but, after watching the present condition of TN... it feels that Bengalis and Tamilians are facing the same problem under the rule of Mamata and Stalin respectively. I felt Rajinikanth would be a good force who will play against those like dmk who put down Sanathana Dharma. I even remember you mentioning in a comment in FB that had Rajinikanth stepped forward he would have tasted some success. Was really disappointed when he decided not to enter (I'm a fan of his embracing spirituality openly to drive a message, more than being a fan of his movies). Even now nothing stops him from being a non political force who can influence(and oppose if needed), as his voice is still highly influential.
But now, although this video is yet to premiere, i see there is a ray of hope for TN.

Rajinikanth actually breathed life into a dying DMK back in 1996 when he openly declared his vote for DMK and took jibes at Jayalalitha. He mainstreamed the dalit casteist director Pa. Ranjith and set the trend for upper caste hindu bashing movies in TN. Recently, his son-in-law Dhanush played the lead in an upper caste bashing movie 'Karna'. And Rajnikanth's 2nd daughter is married to a DMK minister or MLA's son. The entire family celebrates xmas with Xmas tree, xmas theme pajamas and what not. Is super secular. He would never ever speak against any chrislamacommie, never. His hands are usually unstable and he wipes off sweat when addressing media. Either Rajnikanth is dumb thinking he is capturing Dalit's people's hearts or is deeply, deeply dishonest. Don't know which, but looking at his attitude since 20 years makes me think he is dishonest. Incapable he is, for sure. I used to be such a fan of his. Such a fan that I would do aarati for him everyday.
