This new aquascape will be for a discus tank setup. I went with sand, driftwood, rocks, and plenty of live plants.

You are absolutely right when saying keeping discus are NOT what people claim online as I am raising a pair now (over a year from 2.5-3") 6 inches in a 30 gal hexagon tank. I had them in a 55 gal. with Black Angels, Serpae tetras, Brick red swordtails, synodontis, pleco & yoyo loach until they started laying eggs. I water change 50% every two weeks (unlike whats online) & NEVER have fed them beef hearts but lots of bloodworms & brine shrimp along with flakes/pellets. GREAT VIDEOS from the Cichlid Bros, I wish you guys would consider opening a HUGE Cichlid store here in the Chicagoland (suburban) area.

I can just imagine your stomach sinking seeing that one lay on the substrate. They can be pretty dramatic and will do that when stressed. I’d say add some type of schooling fish like rummy nose tetras maybe 10-15.

My favorite fish is a Datnoid and have always had one in one of my Cichlid tanks. I would recommend adding one of these to your tanks. Great fish with a lot of personality with Cichlid traits. Same diet but has a slow growth rate. Peaceful towards other fishes unless someone bothers it.

Great discus, jack watley good choice!! If u get more ,just get two more and from jackwatley don't get from anywhere else so u don't cross, then check hardness if too hard get hma filter doesn't cost a lot but it will soften water a little more, and change water every week with a python easy peasy!! If u want them to grow and feed them three times a day!! I use to grow them
