Based on the evidence, I don't think Americans are paying to write on shells. I also don't believe that this is a Russian PSYOP since these actions't won't move the needle on the undecided.
Based on the amount of Anime characters on the shells, It is possible that most of these shell designs are commissioned by internet edgelords.

It really baffles my mind how people so obsessed with rights and freedoms drool over these authoritarian dictatorships.
Its all about when prioritizing rights and freedoms becomes more about prioritizing national traditions which happen to be about rights and freedoms. And naturally nationalists who care about upholding traditions will feel positive about others of their own kind.
That's how they lured cult members.

Yeah what Ryan says about "squishy people" is 100% right. Sometimes people ask why I put effort into engaging with or "debating" supporters of the aggressor state online. "You're not gonna change their minds," people say.
Those people are right. But the point isn't to change the mind of the person I'm "debating". Online debates are read by many individuals. Some will already have their minds made up- but others will be undecided fence-sitters.
Personally, I always have the fence-sitters in mind. They'll read what I post, and what my opponent posts, and whichever one of us comes off better, ostensibly, will affect the fence-sitter the most. Ideally.
Squishy fence-sitters. They're the swing states of the internet.
I do the same. It's rare they reply to a fact check
@bobeeman9730 Depends on the "facts". Russonazis still convince themselves of a genocide in donbas despite an international team of Amnesty International and the UN sending investigation teams and finding no evidence of such. No bodies, no footage, no nothing.
I do it for the same reason, but also to train my debating skills and as a kind of diary to document my state of mind at that time. It can be also fun, and I try to never insult people online, but rather be polite and respectful, and even more so when people are totally out of line. Sometimes it totally changes the tone of the discussion, sometimes it shuts it immediately down, and sometimes people totally freak out and expose very blatantly who they are, for everyone to see with high contrast. Showing works better than telling, I learned from raising kids.
There is also another aspect: Because I don't want to embarrass myself, I do fact checks when I don't know the facts for sure, and when it comes to numbers and statistics, I check different sources and try to see what the upper and lower estimates are and use generally numbers in that range that favor my opponent, so serious people rarely dispute them.
With the kind people living in an alternate reality I still try to understand where they are coming from and how they got there, and while often some kind of mental disorder is involved, minor to major, it is more often that many "normal" people lack the capacity, the skills, the time or the will to perform critical thinking and check sources, opening themselves up for manipulation. And it can happen to everyone - nobody is immune to manipulation, nobody is immune making huge errors in judgement, especially when it gets to topics like humans and politics.
The scariest thing however is the sophistication of manipulation techniques that have been perfected by psychologists, salesmen and marketing companies, con-men and scammers, secret services, pick-up artists, leaders, politicians and the military. And today, with the internet, we live in a high-threat environment saturated with psychological attacks in order to use us and our resources for the benefit of the attacker or in other cases to incapacitate us psychologically or socially. Getting along is already hard enough without these attacks.
In essence: Debating stuff helps to not become a victim in this high-threat environment called the internet, from cyberattacks on your brain. You really have to be careful with what you let in your brain, and for the sake of society even more careful with what you let out.
@@bobeeman9730bots typically won't reply to a fact check, it's a wasted effort, when there's so much low hanging fruit for them to pick.

@@Hypernefelos "I bet there were more lead sling bullets with inscriptions on them than without any."
I'm a bit skeptical. The amount of sling bullets consumed in war was likely quite high so I think inscribing more than half of them would be excessively laborious. However, the absolute number of sling bullets with inscriptions is probably still high.
My dad was a big reason why I always wanted to enlist and serve. He passed away just short of two years into my contract and for a while I struggled to function. I had great friends around me and a wife who supported me, helping me to get through those times. Exactly a year later we were out training and on the anniversary of his death I decided to commemorate him by writing his name on a 155, with other guys in my section signing it. Last round in the fire mission I loaded the round with so much passion it bounced off the loading tray and took the nose cover off lol. Loaded it back up (with chiefs permission because I didn’t know if it was fireable after that), went over to pull the lanyard and watched it fly for as long as I could see it. To me it was symbolizing me finally letting go of his passing and accepting he was gone. I believe he would’ve appreciated the gesture, because he was always proud of his boys service to their country and continuing the family tradition. That is a good example of writing something on a round. These are not good examples in this video. I remember seeing a video supposedly of a Ukrainian soldier going through discarded mags left by the Russians. They each had at least one anime girl sticker slapped on.
Yeah, I think he's underestimating the reach of Anime here. The Russians haven't exactly been immune to its draw, and the characters being depicted tend to be ones that would be reasonably expected to be popular with the Age Group a country is looking to Draft.
There's pictures from the 2010s of American vehicles covered with anime stickers on the inside during GWOT deployments.
Ukrainian soldiers also do this. I recall a particularly popular video / picture of an Ukrainian soldier which had a load of anime stickers plastered all over the gun (or at least the magazine).
People in the subreddit r/NonCredibleDefense did a full-on analysis of the origin of all the stickers. Anime and the military seem to be a popular combination.

Grishaputin, didn’t imagine I’d see him on this channel.
Grisha or known by his handle grishaputin, was a Hoi4 streamer / youtuber who when the war in Ukraine started, aligned himself with pro-Russian beliefs and joined the Wagner as some sort of propaganda streamer since he was too young to serve.
He streamed Hoi4 playing mods simulating Russia defeating Ukraine in a modern day conflict in some Wagner base.
All of this meant he was effectively cut off from people who he formerly collaborated with within the Hoi4 community, he was ostracized and most paradox / Hoi4 creators who have collaborated with him do not view him favorably anymore.
Grisha ended up crying on stream when he learned that prighozin had died, with prighozin gone, I believe his ‘employment’ at Wagner was jeopardized and I believe he no longer ‘works’ for them.
Being too young to partake in the war, he recently tried to undertake police (or fsb? Or omon??) training but failed the physical examination.
I believe he was born in 2006, and if he is now 18, he can enlist in the Russian military if he chooses to do so. Although he may try and avoid entering the conflict seeing as his attempt to join the police may have been an attempt to avoid being drafted.
Love your content Ryan! Just wanted to add context onto the figure who posted this misinformation.
An elaboration on the "squishy people": as Ryan says, the point isn't to radicalise the die-hards.
Die-hards are a) way less numerous than they sound (usually, at least) and b) hard to radicalise again in another direction, in other words it's less bang for buck of effort.
Instead, radicalise the moderates because a) if you don't do it your opponents will, b) the moderates are (usually, at least) the majority of the population so they *can* if moved, push the needle, and c) radicalising them is much cheaper bang per buck of effort wise, because they oppose much less resistance than the die-hards.

LazerPig hit the big time! He's getting name dropped.
“The losing side” about that flag, I love it!
Hey Ryan. Keep up the great work. I like the fact you have Mrs Thatcher's book, the Downing Street years.
Lazerpig/Ryan McBeth collab when?
Yes!
'Blue Eye Samurai' definitely worth a watch. Great show. ❤
This is an awesome channel! keep up the good work
A website aimed towards Americans would use US$ rather than Euro€.
Lp mentioned let’s go
Russian scammers, what a shocker. First time I've ever heard of such a thing.
Outstanding work MacBeth!
Great video as always Ryan 🎉
I think the fact their pricing is in euros is telling.
I know bad photoshop when I see one. Look at concentric curves (segments of conical sections), they are way off. End of discussion.
great videos as always and thank you for your service
Great show! Thanks.
We need a McBeth and Lazerpig collaboration. :)
Anime Recommendations for Ryan: Lycoris Recoil, Girls und Panzer
Girls und Panzer even features his service song.
I prefer Otherside Picnic myself
You honestly think Ryan wants to see schoolgirls driving panzers around? If anything I see him as more of a Tank Girl type.
Those things are exactly why people dont even bother with anime. Everything is schoolgirls, its fucking sick and cringe.
Point him to real man animes,

The ad at the end was the best part. Good on you for being ironic and not ashamed.
Ryan, I enjoy your videos immensely. You explain everything very well! Bravo! Between you and Preston Stewart, i feel I am getting a good picture of what is going on! Both of you were a perfect example of what our military produces! Good work and stay safe!

Cause thing go boom
Ok but we gotta recognize that the greek slinger that took the time to literally chisel a troll message into a stone is an absolute chad.
Man is a legend well ahead of his time.
My brother in the first golf war put a message to saddam with our last name on it. It was on a bomb mounted on a f 1 11. Kind of interesting at the time.
Slight correction: The ultimate goal of a psyop is to change the behavior of the target audience. While usually shaping the emotions, attitudes, understanding, beliefs of the target audience plays into changing a behaviour it's not always the case. We do not care what the target audience feels or thinks because 1) it is difficult to measure/asses and 2) it offers no advantage to us. Sure the target audience loves us but does that mean they're gonna get out of the way when our tanks roll through the street? All this is based on US doctrine and perhaps other countries have different doctrinal views of psyop.
"Psyop" is a silly made-up word for "influence" that was invented by paranoid weirdos. A "psy-operative" is just an influencer, essentially everyone who makes any sort of claim on the internet could be viewed as conducting a "psyop" or influencing their audience, whether they're some secret agent propagandist or a random Joe. So talking about the "goals of psyops" seems kind of pointless to me, the goal is to influence people, it's not very complicated.
Never understood this even in WW2 it’s not like they’re gonna have a chance to see what it says and do the disappointed hands on hips bald Indian guy meme right before they get blow to pieces? lol I get it’s symbolic but it’s kinda weird still 😂
It’s more their own morale.
Lazerpig excellent shout out and some good content on his channel along with the similar HardThrasher.
You make time to write on shells in a combat zone. It's a morale booster. It's a good thing to be proud of if you are on the side fighting tyranny and evil. ...Signed, two war Combat Vet.
Before we made a beach landing in Thailand for some coop, a bunch of us drew weird crap on our LVTs the night before, with chalk.
CO caught wind and made us stay up all night cleaning our hogs with diesel fuel!
Chalk is really hard to get off flat paint!😂
man i guess grisha really has grown on life, from hoi4 youtuber to being the barracks bunny of wagner
It’s quite sad honestly. He was a good player in general. I think he overestimated the number of insane people who play hoi4, expecting them to support him, then when he learned that anyone with significant knowledge of hoi4 knows a bit about history, and knows that Russia is the aggressor and understands that what they say is bullshit, and so he did a knee jerk reaction and went full Wagner
@@simpli_historihe as his height right now. To zazed.
Based Grisha, zazed even
@@simpli_histori imo i think he overbet how many nazis and other extremists actially play hoi4, while it's many probably not as much as he wanted for the wagner move to go well
loving the shout out to the eternal lazerpig!
I bought a shell message from the UAF🇺🇦 and had it fired into Donetsk so, yeah this sort of thing is not unknown. I witnessed it loaded AND fired from the artillery gun.

@3:33 Anime is actually super popular in Russia, even with the older generations. Like, more prevalent than it is here
I love the word behoove. When I use it I get black stares or stank face as most people I'm exposed to don't know what it means. Thanks for bringing it back into the common lexicon and thanks for the shirt. People gonna learn today.
3:15 my new favorite Ryan McBeth quote
It's already been found these were photoshopped on and the person taking donations pocketed the money
Where did that come out?
Evidence?
This is not true, there's videos of the shells being painted on and loaded.
"Do something you regret later," famous last words before that one last screwdriver... Oj
Its actually Federally illegal for youtube to demonetize for showing the dixie battle flag. If they've literally said that's what it was for report them to the Justice Department.
I fully support any American paying a Ukrainian to write on a shell. An American to a Russian though? Get bent. We need to stop pretending Russia isn't the bad guy.
There seems to be A LOT of Russian sympathizers. It's amazing. Ukraine has been an independent since 1991. The fact that Russia "is ridding of N@zis" is so dumb and asinine. But then again, that's "ancient history" to anyone born before 2000s and not understanding the history of Russia up until the last 2 yrs or so....
😂 This is the craziest fundraising event ever. This is better than that whole deal where you get to name somebody a star.🌠
Don't forget getting a square foot in Scotland and "have the right" to be called Lord/Lady...
This is obvious propaganda. We’re in an election season, Biden is behind, and the war hawks are desperate to get funding for their war in Ukraine.
