- Queen Jane lay in labor full nine days or more
'Til her women grew so tired, they could no longer there
They could no longer there
"Good women, good women, good women that you may be
Will you open my right side and find my baby?
And find my baby
"Oh no," cried the women, "That's a thing that can never be
We will call on King Henry and hear what he may say
And hear what he may say"
King Henry was sent for, King Henry he did come
Saying, "What does ail you my lady? Your eyes, they look so dim
Your eyes, they look so dim"
"King Henry, King Henry, will you do one thing for me?
Will you open my right side and find my baby
And find my baby"
"Oh no, cried King Henry, "That's a thing that i can never do
If I lose the flower of England, I shall lose the branch too
I shall lose the branch too"
There was fiddling, aye, and dancing on the day the babe was born
But poor Queen Jane beloved lay cold as a stone
Lay cold as a stone
He doesn't need an Oscar, he is an Oscar
i see what u did there, just take my like and get outta here
Yea earned my like too. But I hope I don’t want to see you again
Kay...
One day he'll live up to his name
Oh yeaaaahhh
This scene is designed to intentionally mislead you. It's supposed to feel like a turning point for Llewyn. The shots push in closer and closer to him and Grossman, making you feel like he's touched by the music. Llewyn even gets more confident as he plays, making eye contact more and more. You feel like after all the shit he's been through, maybe he'll finally get his big break. Then they hit you with that harsh line at the end. Great stuff by the Coen bros.
I think you’re right on. Llewen’s face at the end of the song shows that he put all of his soul and emotion in to it, that he’s proud of it, and that someone is finally going to recognize his greatness. Then after “I don’t see a lot of money here,” his soul is crushed once again, but he’s used it. Absolutely brilliant acting.
Yeah!
I'm waiting for the happy ending for him!
But no mercy on him 😭🥰❤️
By The Way I loved so much this movie and songs ❤️❤️❤️❤️
One cool thing about the internet and RUclips and such is people have at least a chance to be “discovered”. If only Llewyn Davis had a TikTok…
@@jamesbubbastewartjr why? So thered be another overrated singer songwriter like Ed Sheeran doing the rounds
I love the way this actor make us really feel everything that the character is feeling at the moment, he's one of my favorite actors of all time for real.
I heard f murray cried during the 1st take. The way Oscar performs this song is stunning.
they could have just edited it. they just wanted to make him play it again because hes awesome lol
Funny how in this final take the dude’s back could be literally a still image put in post production. He does not move at all
He did cry. He said it in an interview, and tbh it's the most human and sincere reaction to Oscar's performance of this song. It's simply beautiful and heartbreaking. ruclips.net/video/zphHSI38geY/видео.html
still, ruining a good take because you cant keep it together and focus on your job, musta annoyed oscar isaac
@@zMarcusHD Have you ever been on a film set? They often re do great takes just as assurance regardless of how good any single take was. I doubt Oscar even blinked.
Oscar's acting and singing is just brilliant
“I dont see alot of money here” just hits you to your core
What I love about this scene and the final crushing dialogue, is the fact that Grossman WAS actually touched by the music. He doesn't say "you've got no talent" or "I'm sorry but it just doesn't sound good." He pretty much says the opposite: "you are a true artist, and that's why I don't see a lot of money here. "
I wouldn’t go as far as to say he thinks of him as a true artist. Grossman just wants musicians that make him money. Llewyn didn’t have it. At least in Bud’s opinion…
I think what the scene means is talent is not enough. You need originality. There were hundreds of folk singers like Llewyn endlessly covering the same folk songbook. Bob Dylan made it because his original songwriting made him stand apart. Same for the Beatles. They realized they were never gonna make it as long as they covered the same Buddy Holly songs as everyone else, no matter how good the singing and playing was. The money was in new songs and new sound.
I don’t think Grossman cared at all. He’s extremely dismissive. There’s nothing in his voice or demeanor that says he was moved by the song in the slightest
Exactly right....'I fucking hate folk music!!' - Llewyn Davis@@jugurthasyphax6341
A stunning cloud without any silver lining. An underrated masterpiece..
That’s a great metaphor
I absolutely love Oscar’s singing
When my son was in high school, they were required to watch the movie in an English class at which time he introduced it to me. What a cool teacher as they discussed the character's struggles, etc along with the writing and film techniques.
This is an allegory to the film itself. "I don't see a lot of money here" is the authors acknowledgement that the art they are creating won't see commercial success but is still worth doing. The tragedy in this moment is not Queen Jane - it's Llewyn Davis and the Coen themselves. Powerful stuff.
What lighting. Class filmmaking
What a sad, lovely song, interpreted with such softness and compassion... this was a great movie! Highly recommended.
Hi what is the movie's name
@@jean-marijacobs3764 Inside Llewyn Davis !!!
@@jean-marijacobs3764 remember to type "!!!" Or you won't find it
I genuinely forgot F. Murray Abraham was in the scene which makes his casting in moon knight all the better
I swear to god.... this is too much... I think I've watched this scene about a thousand times but I get the feeling of chest congestion every single time
Literally same. I sob every time.
It’s gorgeous
I think it's telling that this is the most the technically difficult song he plays, and he does it perfectly...and it's not enough
It's pretty basic chords, it's hard to play any piece with true feeling of course , but it's not technically difficult, takes half an hour for any experienced guitarist to learn this solid.
Probably green rock road is the trickiest on this soundtrack.
@@thealexanderbond we never see him play that, I meant in his onscreen performances. I think the Coens wanted this to be the best he sounded/played as a storytelling mechanism
@@aidankeane8971 He plays Green Green Rocky Road in the car while driving to Chicago.
This hits me hard every time I watch it
Oscar deserves an Oscar ;)
The song choice is a really incisive piece of characterisation here. He has a chance to impress somebody, and if he can do that, he can make a career out of what he loves. And he chooses a song which he thinks will show the most important part about himself, and about folk music as he sees it - something traditional, and really authentic. Only Grossman is a businessman, and what is most important for him is something that will sell. I think this song and 'Please Mr Kennedy', more than any other pair, demonstrate the opposite tensions pulling at folk music at this time, and right in the middle we have Llewyn, caught between his dream and what he sees as his principles.
He’s amazing! This is one of my favorite things to watch. It’s beautiful
Bud Grossman should've hired him on the spot after that little bit of "Cocaine Blues" Llewyn played as he was walking in.
Oh shit! Forgot about this scene. Looks like Moon Knight wasnt the first time Oscar got judged by Khonshu
Marc Spector auditioning to Konshu to be his avatar
Lmao
Lmao
He sounds perfect
This song is like a Kubrick movie while Please Mr. Kennedy is just a popcorn banger. And thats really is the saddest part of this movie. It's a stroke of genius to have "Salieri" in this scene. The Cohens rule. I hated that McBeth movie...but i watched it 13 times....
The greatest scene ever of art vs. world
Gracias Oscar Isaac por esta gran actuación que nos diste. Esta película la llevo en mi corazón porque me siento hasta el día de hoy muy identificado con Llewyn Davis.
Nearly cried at this scene.
this scene can only work if the actor is capable of being a great musician. the performance of this song is magical, no one else could play it and sing it like this. its truely beutifull. and then follows the tragic reality of life that the guy listening is only interested in money and how sellable it could be. but his focus on the performance leads you to believe he is capivated by its beuty. this is great movie making of the highest level.
Every day I am more surprised by how much talent this man has, he does many things very well 💕, I love you very much Oscar 🥺💖
Please, give an Oscar to Grammy!
Cant find this Version on spotify! So sad, this one is the Best...
Same, devastated
Wtf, how can this song exist! This is perfect😭❤️
beautiful song, i love it, this is the best scene in the movie
but the guy is right, there would be no money in it.............sadly , that's why pop music gets all the glory
I mean he sees a young Bob Dylan in the movie; It's tragic because he stops, when music like this would've started gaining traction.
So gifted. So beautiful.
What a beautiful movie. And this song . Oscar Issac you are just amazing ❤️
I think this song has more symbolism to the story than a lot of people interpret. In the song, the women and the king can’t let go of the queen to let the baby be born. But in the end, the baby was born and the people celebrated despite the queen dying.
In parallel, Llewyn can’t let go of Mike. But in letting go (not forgetting him, but moving on to the next chapter of his life) he himself could have a rebirth as a musician. In the end, the song has an optimistic outlook that something joyous can come out of tragedy, and maybe that could be the case for Llewyn.
I always tied the lyrics of the song to him knowing Jean is about to abort his baby (or have the baby without Llewyn in their life, either way they aren’t in his life). Somehow the song ties in to all that in ways I can’t quite put into words.
That's a very astute interpretation. Immediately after Salieri rejects Llewyn as a solo act, he gives him an opportunity to be in Peter, Paul, and Mary, which Llewyn rejects because, after Mike, he doesn't want to be part of another group act.
There's no optimism... Only cold hard reality ... Like the cold Chicago snow he is forced back into
KHONSHU AND MOON KNIGHT IN ALTERNATIVE UNIVERSE 🤯
Filmmaking at it's absolute best...
Story of my life as a musician.
So tender and cruel...
Konshu and Marc when they first met.
Lol good stuff
my favorite film of all time and i remember the feeling when i first watched this film and this scene where he sings so beautifully and with so much confidence as well believing that he might actually make it and how i felt the same way. i really believed maybe he did have a chance to change his life, but when grossman let him down and said he doesnt see money i was really upset and disappointed to hear that. its like if i was there in person witnessing this moment. really incredible god i love this film, love oscar and abraham for this iconic scene.
Gold.
Oh my god is that Khonshu and Marc Spector? LMAO just kidding. Beautiful song and Oscar's voice😍
I'm in love with this song❤️
Beautiful
This is so beautiful, i have chills
He’s playing that. 👏
An absolute Gem.
This is some fine acting.
Eternal mournings of the soul 🤱🏻
Marc Spector singing to Khonshu to let him go free 😂
Hehe.
If Dave van Ronk was around for the folk resurgence of this century he probably would have made it. Even if he didnt get signed today, with how the framework of distribution has changed, he probably would have still found an audience and been successful. Dave's story is the story of many of the folk artists of that decade. Pop music moved on to fast and record labels were not interested in non-commercial music. To me , the story of Inside Llewyn Davis is largely about what it was like to be a potential superstar and miss your window. Just look at his lifestyle , hes 'all in', but its too late. He was even thrown a chance for his talent, but his trauma with his old partners passing probably prevented him from seeing it that way. If its any consolation, Dave did have moderate success throughout his career. I don't actually know how accurate the story was.
I see a lot of talent
& and lots of money but it's not about the money
Mister producer! I'll just take my cat and go then.. great movie what a talent Oscar" in both categories.
F. Murray Abraham who does the Voice Acting and Oscar Isaac who plays Marc/Steven/Jake “And who ever else who might be in their” and the Movie Ends with a Bob Dylan Song and Moon Knight begins with a Bob Dylan Song Symbolic. haha
That look at the end sort of feels like Llewyn is saying "Bitch, are you serious?" with his eyes
except he basically turned down the chance to make more money singing folk music than he could possibly have ever made singing The Death of Queen Jane.
This was a beautiful scene probably my favorite as hearing the song and up to this point I really though this was gonna be the turning point for his story i before getting to the guys reaction rewatched the scene a lot couple times and before this scene finished I did some research on real life guy his career just hit me a lot and seein when he says “I don’t see a lot of money here” 😢 I realized the way I though the story was going was not wt was the ending beautiful depressing a bit great movie
The guy he’s singing to doesn’t blink not once In this scene.
What else, it is Sallieri, at least, this time he did not kill the guy...
Amo!!! Que más sabe hacer este hombre!? Qué talentoso!! Suertuda su esposa!!🤭 ❤️✨
I love this movie because I can hear original Gibson acoustic guitar sounds on movie. If you like sentimental acoustic sounds, I recommend.

Nice marc oops steven or jack i dont no but good job

i've known this song for decades from the Bothy Band recording. and Oscar's is every bit as piercing.
F Murray knows his music, was a peer to the late Mozart, in case you were wondering
Did not know this dude could sing, don’t know what this movie is, but I dig it. 😄
Inside Llewyn Davis
He was so close to finally taking a step towards success, but he still couldn't get over his partner's death. What a shame.
The song was soo beautiful that I forgot that Oscar Isaac is singing it. Which is saying something.
Why is this song not available on Spotify or Apple Music?
Country India
😢
Trying to copy this playing style and got the chords but boy do I need a strumming hand tutorial 😅
Looks like Marc Spector had already met Khonshu back in the 60’s. 👀👀
Is Steven or Marc?
The song is about a woman who dies giving birth and he gives his life to a dying form of music that actually gives birth to a new form of music. It prefigures the movie ending.
Have a feeling Abraham was cast to intentionally play the same role that he played in Amadeus. In a position to hamstring another Mozart all over again, crush his spirit and send him into a spiral.
Edit:"through my influence I saw to it Don Giovanni was played only 5 times in Vienna, but in secret I went to every one of those five"
except if you knew what he offered Oscar, it was far greater success than he ever could have obtained playing his uniformly lugubrious playlist. trim his hair to a goatee, sing some harmonies, join a trio -- that would be Peter, Paul & Mary. Grossman was a real person. and in 1961, the year this movie was set in with a fictional lead but supporting characters -- from Jim and Jean, to Mike Porco, to Grossman, to Dylan at the very end -- were real people too, and Grossman was in fact putting Peter, Paul & Mary together. that's what Llewyn turned down.
Steven singing to Khonshu
“I don’t see a lot of money here”
I was like " ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME " ..
“OK”
F*cking heartless bitch 😢 this song is lovely and tragic. Jane Seymour the only one woman that Herny VIII really loved ❤️

Isnt the guy that he's playing for voice Khonshu in moon knight?
This film is about the death of the dream. Being good but not quite good enough.
That looks like an old Gibson L-1.
While watching this film, I was really feeling bad for the looser Oscar Isaac. I forgot the entire time that he is a handsome, talented, millionnaire!
Steven or Marc?
This Is Real!??? 😍🥰😍🥰😍❤️😍👌🤭🤷❤️
Hayatınız palavra!
Why was this not in moon knight?
Chords?
smth like g c to the fifth fret then c and g and tbh idk
Dude who the hell was even the DOP on this
When he suggests he get a partner, and Llewyn responds “I had one.” Then Grossman says “Maybe you’d better get back together.” I thought for sure Llewyn would commit suicide. (I know I don’t have the lines exact, but that was the gist of the exchange)
Dear F Murray Abraham,
Why must your characters insist on giving Oscar Isaac's characters a hard time? First this, and now Moon Knight? Talk about a pattern...
It's not Salieiri kind of music, he prefers classical music like Mozart.
To be honest I don't see alot of money here either
