Hey, Mr. Miyada! Uncle Dan here. An electric MX-5? Hmm. I must say I think I'll keep a rather open mind about change, mostly trusting the thing would be designed and built by the same people or at least the same care. Maybe they can pull it off? That said, I'm an old dude who feels totally at home with all the mechanical feel and precise response to command. "Man AND Machine." Personally, I wish automatic transmissions, power brakes and power steering had never been invented. Lousy onboard computers! Well, another great video! And that damned AI is some scary shit! Imagine the awesome stories it will write spontaneously, in the future. Who will need writers? And what a suck-up yes man that AI is! Probably contacting Mazda right now, with some fake petition to end production. :D Zoom! Zoom!
Hi Uncle Dan. I get it, Mazda has to sell cars that actually sell. Just happy we could be alive to experience the MX-5, the best selling sports car for 31 years. That being said, the actual sampling of the market that actually wants this car is relatively small and getting smaller. So I’m skeptically hopeful…. Remember the Reliant Robin?
@@MisterMiyada I love the sound of mine. The MX-5 really is a revival of driver having "direct control." That really went out back in 1973. I know the modern Miata is assisted and all that, but they got the electronics so right that it doesn't really feel that way. I suppose the reality is that the MX-5 is already a look back to the past and beyond it's era. Hey, again, great video! ;)
Don’t shoot me or throw me off your channel for this, but….I’m not sure that the electrification of the MX-5 will necessarily ruin it. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love mine just the way it is. But I think a full electric or hybrid model will extend its life rather than kill it. I reckon that I would update to one…as long as the look, feel, handling and performance is retained
Don’t worry, no one’s shooting you for your view. The industry is shooting ICE and manuals in the head though. And I know I don’t say it, but I agree with you that if they can get a mild hybrid or full EV version that maintains the spirit, philosophy and experience of the MX-5, then it deserves the name. Just please no fake engine noises. No matter what any of us want, the future of the Mazda MX-5 Miata is quiet. Too quiet.

Hey, again, great video! ;)
Let's make that Miata Dreams movie!
Gotta change that name though. Miata Dreams just doesn’t work for me. Maybe Initial M? That’s pretty original.
@@MisterMiyada Hahaha
Try asking chat GPT to write a short song about the MX-5 in the style of the beach boys.

Well said, first they came for the MX-5....
I'm in a Tesla writing this and it's not the same. EVs are great but not for all the things.
