    • @Juju.inseoul
      @Juju.inseoul 3 года назад +3

      @@ElenaSi for me I do not drink because of my religion and I was actually always pretty straightforward with it. There were people who recommended to tell to Koreans that I do not drink because of health issues like allergy but considering the fact that Koreans do not know much about Islam and also that the media is trying to form a bad mass public opinion towards my religion, saying I can’t drink because of health issues I felt it does not solve the problem. When I state the real reason most of my friends are actually very interested and happy to learn more about my religion as it’s something very foreign to them and I am also always open and welcoming any opportunity to have an open “discussion” :)

    I like these videos because you hear a lot of things from TV channels or YT channels to make Asian countries look VERY exotic or even tell things that aren't be used/done since a long time ago. Hearing from a real lifelong citizen how it's seen in that society is much more interesting and helps learning about the culture much more than many western clickbait channels tell (and they probably never set a foot in that culture/country). Thank you, as always :)
    Now I can count the money!? 👀
    About public affection: I've seen everything since I was a kid, so I don't feel offended by much of touching or kissing. There are eyes to look away with if affection somehow disgusts other people :)

    1. I'll eat and drink when I feel like.
    2. In my culture is rude to open the present infront of the person who gifted me.
    3. Saying no, depends on the person who's infront of me.The ones I know (if they are sensitive), I'll try to say no in a diplomatic way😅, I guess.In most cases, I just say no.
    4. Here, we can hug or kiss, hold hands, but don't overdo do it , especially in a crowd.Just show some respect, some people might not like to see that (why? I don't know, everybody has their reason).

    When it comes to presents, I think it's respectful to open it in front of the person who gave it to you. Because that person wants to see your reaction, see you become happy. To me, that's the best part about giving gifts, so I would be mad if I wouldn't get to see it. You also spend time, effort, and money to find a present for someone, so I would feel robbed if I didn't get that reaction XD
    (This opinion is coming from a European though, so IDK maybe it's a culture thing.)

    I am from India ...here also the elders should be respected ... And touching their feet is a way to show elders our respect not Everytime though only when you first meet them after a long time and on some festival ocassions ... But I used to argue with my grandpa a lot to build some sense in our conversations but it never offended my grandfather but I wouldn't be rude kid in our argument just stating my opinions in a respectful manner but in argumentative tone like oh no grandpa you are wrong her and he says no kiddo you are wrong here etc ... But my grandpa used to say our little arguments made him nostalgic about his childhood days ... In my family kids are allowed to argue provided in respectfull tone ... All families in India have different opinions regarding respect ... Some people who behave too respectfull and act very sophisticated in front of other people their kids hide so many things from their families and they don't allow their kids to breadth and make them be too much obidieng snatching away their originality of behavior from them ... But some families are too much chilled and do not put much influence on the respecting elders areas untill they realise that their kids have no value of elders or parents and end up being disrespected all the time .. and then their are some families which put everything in moderate where the kids grow normally and gradually learn their own ways and become normal human beings .. it's said in India that too much of anything is bad for you .. so most of the Indians follow the moderate rule in their family .. but their are exceptions in every society .

    As a German i can relate to the 1. Topic: lets say you are on a special diet - for religious or allergic reasons - in Germany you get first a misunderstanding vibe BUT if you say a few short words about it, its no deal anymore... no beer? mo problem! no pork? no problem! as long as both side are open and respectfull. 2nd topic - doesn´t exist here in Germany because we dont give presents to our friends.... just a joke... :D we don´t have this rules here... just relax. open it... say nice and friendly --"oh wow thank you" and everything is fine.. My own grandmother says some thing linke "Here are 5 Deutsche Mark (previous Currency befor euro) but don´t spend it on silly things" - with a warm smile and a wink :D on the 3rd issue: in germany we are right in your face and say "no" directly. on the 4th topic: hmmmm its a so/so thing over here... on the country side maybe... 5th topic: over here there is no such strong old/young relationship

    • @beccan.5876
      @beccan.5876 3 года назад

      I beg to differ on the last topic. Maybe this has changed in the last years and it depends on where you grew up and the age gap we are talking about, but I can remember that me and friends have always been told to respect the elderly a little more and to always talk a little more polite to them than to middle aged people and below that age. And I think that especially old people sometimes do feel they are entitled to a special treatment. Another example would be the way the older generations talk about the kids from Fridays For Future in a very condescending way! Like "young people don't know anything about this world. bla bla." I would suggest there are some young people who have way more experience and are way more mature than some 60+ people.
      On topic 4: Hmmm, I think this is more a personal thing rather than where you live (although this might be a factor). Some poeple won't mind, some people do. Holding hands, hugging, kissing w/o tongue would be totally fine everywhere. When it comes to french kissing... hmmm... for me personally I don't like to see that, but I won't say anything. I can look the other way. Things that are a bit more than that... I don't know... the other day I was at the grocery store and in front of me at the cashier line was a couple around age 40-50 and the man first put his hand on the butt of his wife/girlfriend/whatever (which to that point... okay...) but then he slowly slid his hand into her jeans to caress her butt cheeks... That for me was a little too much... :D

    Ok sooo.. the thing about drinks is actually very useful Rachel cuz uk Muslims can't have alcohol so.. at any cost they can't drink most of the Muslims do drink alcohol but in our culture if we drink alcohol that's haram and it's a sin for us
    I am Muslim i don't wanna drink bro
    I watched soo many videos and they told us that don't reject a drink and i was kinda worried that bro i can't drink what if someone gives me a drink and i have to drink it
    But girl u rock you made me comfortable with this question
    Now I'm reassured that i don't have to force myself to drink 🙈🙈😶😶😕😕😕

    lie with an excuse. Married, I would not like to and the partner wants and I'm to follow willingly. Lie with an excuse. i agree that you should never lie. My women want me to follow willing and with Enjoyment. What ever lie I tell will turn into a truth. it just at the time I had not planned.

    I have heard about this Saying a lie/excuse instead of a No for Korea a lot. Apparently the explanation was, Koreans don't like a flat out NO on their face. Many take it to be rude n putting them down or u being arrogant!
    So make an excuse...🙄
