Only today did I find out that this game and Unrecorded are two different games.
yea kinda sus, since it's literally the same... I THINK he might've just misspoken.
@3217491 A quick google of the studio shows this game is titled as 'Bodycam'. Other than the different name, Unrecord is being developed by DRAMA (or Drama Studios) not Reissad Studios. I'm pretty sure they are both using the same graffiti pack's though, lol. Incredibly similar.
@@3217491 it's being done by two different studio. The one doing this is kinda suspicious. They felt the need to specify that they were French 17 and 20 year olds and their steam page shows off gameplay in Csgo maps. The art style tells me they just followed the tutorial that the studio unrecord did explaining how it was done...
Yeah, this game copied the original Unrecorded demo so directly they even used the same assets.
Are they tho?
This type of aiming is exactly what the Wii was meant for
push this to VR and it would be insane
wii was so ahead of its time, cant wait for this game to drop on wii 🙏
This is almost exactly how CoD Black Ops on Wii was
was also thinking that, but I don't think body-cam vision would lend itself very well to VR. Though you should check out Geronimo if you're interesting in a good looking tactical VR game. @@zachcraigle
Yes this IS wii black ops! @@jonathanmack7337
blurring the faces is actually a pretty clever way of not breaking the realism illusion
They stole the concept along with every other concept from Unrecord.
@@WorldsWorstBoyunrecord fucked up by dropping that vid early enough to let the competition steal it.
If more game devs today had the mindset of 90s-00s game devs (hide the graphics they were "ashamed" of) then more games would look photorealistic or have timeless aesthetics. Like silent hill.
qould be better if they used baclavas tho
@@WorldsWorstBoy If you are going to say that, then you might as well say Terraria copied Minecraft or vice versa.

Blurring the faces is pretty clever in regards to amplifying the atmosphere and not needing detailed face models.
i'd prefer ski masks or something like that tbh
So clever they weren't the ones to think of it. They are literally just copying Unrecord.
i mean, it mkes kinda snese@@razzamatazification
@@razzamatazification it'd not really make sense to be called Bodycam then given that most Bodycam footage released to the public is blurred.
Thats 1 of my 2 issues with that type of game: 1) You have to keep it like it makes sense for the idea of it (blurred footage that's released to the public) - 2 (my main issue)) It still doesn't really sit well with me to be able to actively control situations from a Bodycam perspective from a logic perspective, I'd rather have a normal shooter where your sessions are recorded in bodycam perspective and after each session you can choose if you want to save the footage or not - possibly with the ability to upload it ingame (sort of as a gimmick rather than the main focus).
@@Unknown_Genius It's intentionally different, the unique selling point of the game. Of course the brain likes the 'classical' type of shooter more, because it's used to it. But I bet nonetheless playing this (even watching this) feels fresh and different. It just scratches that itch for the first time
Now imagine proper horror games with this technology.
We get closer everyday from games inducing PTSD
Hi, i played cod for 10 years, never knew a thing about war but after i started insurgency sandstorm i really need a psychiatrist because thid game literally gave me PTSD
I think there are a few in development I've seen, expect a ton of games with this style as it's quite easy to pull off
I’m wondering example 5 thousand years later games, it can be scary. And then where is the line when we gonna get really trauma from games, if games are gonna be so close to real life. But ofc it is harder to get trauma, because we know it is game.
tbh this game is not that realistic as Unrecord. Also sound is horrible. If you are looking for a horror game that is pretty amazing you can look at Subliminal
They could very easily make this a horror game with just a few tweaks to sound effects, visuals, etc (heartbeat and surpression and such), a bit like what 7 days was originally meant to be.
"Hey, can I copy your homework?"
"Yeah, just make it look different so it doesn't look like you just copied it"
unrecord legitimately looks better anyway no matter how hard they tried to copy them
this looks too close to Unrecord mechanism wise for me to believe these guys just reimplemented systems that Unrecord's devs came up with.. I'm now thinking that there's either been industrial espionage involved, or that both teams are flipping assets.
Its moreso the lighting, movements and camera warp that makes it look like gopro footage. The texture quality itself looks pretty standard but all these smart tricks makes it feel so lifelike. Really cool.

This is crazy. I remember how people said when BF 3 was released in 2011: "how could graphics get any better than that". Well, over ten years later and here we are, a game that is basically looking like real life.
Battlefield 3 blew my mind, i agree with your statement
Battlefield 3 days, gr8 days
To be fair, Battlefield 3 still looks damn great and way better than BF2042 or newer CoD titles.
Looking like real life doesn't equal better tho. For me personally I will never ever try this game solely bcs of it's graphics
This game doesn't look like real life, it looks like bodycam footage. I hope people learn the difference sooner rather than later.
I really like the detail of blurred faces, very practical for the devs because faces are really hard to construct realistically, but also can be viewed as blurring the faces of operators during an opp to conceal identity. Fucking awesome.
I imagine it can also make the game slightly less graphic. Meaning, it feels realistic, but you don’t have to worry about animating gruesome headshots or anything like that.
@@titus2181I don't see how that's a good thing 😂
My thought process exactly, it doesn’t break immersion at all because it makes the characters feel like high profile operators instead of trying to put effort into making realistic faces which would likely end up looking at least slightly uncanny and break immersion instead of deepening it
Kane & Lynch 2 did it amazingly. It was so effective and immersive
Exactly. Faces are a big source of sending the visuals of a game into uncanny valley, this is a genius way of working around that.
Epic, really looking fourward to this! Thanks for insight ggs.
This is INSANE!! I can’t wait to play this when it comes out!!!
Love not just the camera look (edge softness, fisheye, chromatic aberration, blown out highlights, etc), but that beautiful subtle sway and nuance in weapon handling. Anything we can do to get away from static repetitive animations is wonderful.

It looks awesome. Inovation is the word!
I know YT doesn't give you the full experience of what this looks like, but it doesn't look remotely realistic (I'm not talking about the physics or the many many glitches, just the looks)
I like how the red dot seems to float around the sight based on it's position relative to your POV; instead of being a static red dot like any other fps. Very excellent little detail.
It's called parallax. And yeah, it looks great!
Also how the frame around the glass is out of focus, I’d imagine that is what it would look like when keeping both eyes open.
It's the little details in this sort of game that make it so realistic. The blurred faces, the way the audio clips when you fire a gun, the auto exposure when you change lighting.
They straight ripped the idea from Unrecord
@@insertopinion5967 Unrecord does appear to be the original full idea. the free aim/body cam part has been around years but the combination is just the same ideas as Unrecord

I used to go urban exploring in abandoned buildings downtown Detroit. This game has the same creepy feel of actually being in these types of places. We occasionally had paintball / airsoft matches in cool spots we found. This is amazingly nostalgic to my teens and 20's.
One thing I think would be impossible to reproduce in a game engine, is rooms where people lit upholstery foam fires. Must be something about these kinds of environments and the body cam concept that creates an illusion of realism.
The way you describe the aiming mechanics remind me of Metroid Prime using Wii controllers. You can aim while the camera is still in the center, but once the cursor moves to the edge of the screen, the entire camera moves in that direction.

All the tricks they use to simulate a bodycam would just look weird when seen with a VR headset.

It reminds me of those 3D scans that people do of apartments or stores to show them to people online. If you go on microcenter they have a lot of stores that they scanned, so when you look up where an item is in a store you can do a virtual tour of the store to see exactly where it is. It's pretty sick. This looks just like that, only with a lot more frames. Very cool.
this is exactly how they implemented it in unreal engine
as much as I do think this is cool, knowing Unrecord exists changes afew things. This game can go one of two paths: Establish it's own identity and become a genuinely good game through testing, feedback, and good development, or it can go down the second path of becoming an asset flip both copying and building off the hype of Unrecord, which came first. I hope it goes down the first path and I genuinely hope the game turns out well.

If you pause the game and look at a particular part of the screen it's nothing more realistic than what we see nowadays. It doesn't mean it's bad, it's already a great achievement to cheat our brain like that, but it's not just "better graphics", it's also a clever use of PoV

Arma 3 has an option to use a similar aiming system. You just set the "deadzone" value to determine how much you have to move your aim before the camera pans. That way you can keep your head stationary while only moving your gun.

One flaw with the bodycam approach is your sight wouldn't really line up with it, so that's probably why aiming is a bit odd
But for most of the target player base will definitely heighten their sense so that they could aim in this game. Im here for it.
They could be camera tactical glasses / protective eyewear
Despite the name of the game, Bodycam, the camera is positioned on the player's head. But I guess Headcam doesn't punch as well as Bodycam does.
@@zachsfilms845 head is a part of human body so it still makes sense to be called bodycam despite the camera is positioned on head.
@@MiekuahProductions sure but when people think of body cams, they think of the camera a cop wears on their chest
Having played airsoft in a similar looking building the dark and light sections are pretty realistic. It was an old abandoned school house, so there was a middle part filled with snow, and then a square of hallways. Looking out into the snow was either blinding from the reflection, or let your eyes adjust and then going into the halls was pitch black for a bit. Definitely brought m back to that feeling
I also used to play airsoft and nothing you said was incorrect.

"I think I'm starting to understand the controls now"
Was previously dominating for 9 minutes straight on screen
this might just be the fps we've all been waiting for.
insurgency has a similar camera/gun control system. i personally found it VERY intuitive and loved it. this game looks awesome, like a multiplayer unrecord
Came to the comments to say the exact same thing!
