- Disney was on a tight budget to get this film made in the post-war 1940s, so they scraped together props and had the whole story acted out and shot on a soundstage before drawing the sequences.
You can see the references are layed out almost identically to the animation as well as how much Helene Stanley embodies not only the titular Cinderella, but stepsister Anastasia as well. That’s talent!
I’m still waiting on any of this lost footage to be recovered, but at least we’ll always have the makeshift Bruno with a Goofy head to remember!

How the hell does animation from the 1950s look so much better than a lot of animated movies today? Way to go backwards…
Money, time and general audience taste. I prefer this I think this are peak animation.
I pray for the day we get these type of movies again
I know it was hard for the animators to not be able to be creative with scenes and characters, having been able to experiment more with previous features, but this movie is wonderful regardless. What’s so weird is that I find that I like Snow White better in every department, but I enjoy Cinderella more than Snow White.

You'd think this method would be more costly, having to film a real set with a camera, hire actors and build a set. Then pay for an hour and a half of animation and coloring and more actors to do voices.

So kids,Cinderella's waist IS realistic and the people who compared themselves to a cartoon infact had terrible parents but we decided it would be easier tk attack underpaid animatiors
