This is the true depth of Indian classical music and the exceptional abilities of fully devoted musicians. Listeners can awaken their souls without even seeing. God bless Kushal Gi and Parimal Gi. Thank you to those who make this music available to music lovers
Although in my opinion no one compares to the late Nikhil Banerjee, Kushal Das is the one who, for me at least, comes closest to expressing the deep spirituality that was the hallmark of Banerjee’s style. Others have commented on his leisurely exposition here, but as any sophisticated musician knows, it takes supreme artistry to play slowly but with such intensity and control. This is something Banerjee also did, but the lesser artists cannot do. They are merely loud, or fast, or brutish. I am grateful he is performing in our lifetimes.
While recovering from surgery I listened to Kushal Das’s rendition of Jaunpuri yesterday and Patdeep today- both are astounding performances. A worthy successor to Nikhil Banerjee

Calm, composed , serene and brilliant. No words can describe this performance. Nikhilda's loss to this generation is compensated by him. Unmatched by any other artist
As far as Patedeep is concerned, absolutely. This rendition is reminds the patdeep of Nikhilda. Although Nikhilda's patdeep is beyond comparision; then also.
My God absolutely stunning I have listened it more than 50 times neither this is patdeep nor it is sitar it simply magic really awesome and disciplaind hats off Allah bless this maestro
In Indian classical music, the word 'best' can never be used in time. Nothing is ultimate. Too many legends came, gone, new are coming, they all have their own style of playing, and the listners have their choice of hearing. So no one is best, they are are devotees, to the music which paves the path to the divine.
Thank you for sharing, what a mesmerizing performance by both. I think it is a combination of various elements that contributes to a magnificent performance and I feel one of those elements is having a good audience. Much respect for the present audience, who are very respectfully listening to the music and show their appreciation by clapping on the appropriate moments.
Were well said! How can the creator create or a performer perform, if there is no-one to know how to appreciate their true genius. Clearly the audience rose up to the great master's level. This very dynamic pushed both the performer and the audience to higher and higher levels of bliss. Blessed be. Sad Guru.
Best Sitar Badan ever. His meditation, sound, acoustics, all came together. This is what a great musician can achieve when everything is at optimum. Great work Kushal da. Wish you the best.
This is the first time I've heard Raga Patdeep and I am deeply impressed with how soulful and dramatic this raga is. Now I want to hear it in the hands of other masters, just to glean some of the other facets of this raga.
Sergey you are lucky to have witnessed this performance in person. Thanks so much for sharing it with the world. Obviously Kushal Da is a musician of very high caliber. Plus he is particularly good at selecting really teasing raags for his performances. This performance was no different! Thanks you!
Grazie Sergey per aver condiviso questa bellissima musica del IX Festival Internazionale di San Pietroburgo, complimenti. Ti auguro una Buona e felice settimana. 👍 . Ciao, Lorenzo.
very nice, i listened with utmost attention..wonderful patdeep ever heard beforeon sitar..one note precisely at timeline 36.32 was misplaced but subtle :) thanks kushal dada..
El video de Moscú estuvo excelente. Caminata diurna por una hora. Voy a seguir promocionando sus videos. India acaba de superar a China en población en estos momentos. La música que te envía a otras dimensiones.
Nikhil B did not leave any disciple. KD comes closest to his style. Plays with introspection and patience. Purbayan C lacks both and gives way to showmanship. Incidentally NB has a haunting Patdeep in RUclips besides two lps one recorded in France and the other by Sagarika.
@@debasishmandal5290 copycat? No one can imitate anything in Indian classical music ... only imaginations can match...and do you know anything about indian classical music??
@@debasishmandal5290 No I don't think so. He plays within a style admittedly sounding similar to Nikhil but does not copy. It is very difficult in ICM to come up with a new and distinctive style especially in instrumental music. Nowadays the named artists who teach tend to want their students to play like them. This limits style development outside of the 'famous' ones.
Emulating late Pandit Nikhil Banerjee's leisurely, unhurried style. Very nice performance of Raga Pateep.

Mr. Kushal das is a very good sitar player. I have heard a number of times program. He is an excellant.
this is strong language & i appreciate it. Aum Saraswati,,,,, Namastubhyam!

Indeed Kushal Das is one of the greatest Sitar and Surbahar performers and his Patdeep is incredible
Both of Panditjees are heart touching performance. Never listen Raga Patdeep can perform so sweet culm and beautiful!!!💕❤️💐🙏🏼

I have listened such fine Patdeep after I listened to late ustad latafat Hussain Khan years ago
In my opinion he's the best living sitar player. Very very mature playing
Very respectfully I'd like to disagree. I think the best sitar player alive is, without a doubt, Ustad Shahid Parvez.
@@tirthpandya Budhaditya Mukherjee, Ustads Nishat Khan, Irshad Khan and same others are also very, very good!

I bow down to this Ustad. Not just because of his musical geniuses, but also for his etiquette of covering his feet while playing sitar.
