I'm with Buck on this one. Known it or not, it's irresponsible to cut off your child when they're in need of help, not to mention cowardly. Buck and Maddie's parent should be ashamed of themselves.
I know that they were in pain with the loss of their child, But it doesnt change the fact that they ahd two loving kids that were still alive that wanted their attention! They didn't get that, So now its kinda like they lost all of their kids!
This is literally what emotional neglect does to you. You don’t have physical scars, but you have deeply ingrained mental scars that no matter how hard you try they are still always there reminding that because your parents never thought you were good enough, how can you ever believe that you are good enough. All a kid ever wants is to be loved unconditionally. That’s all there is to parenting really.
@@Kiah1995 I totally agree. No, I think this is him at his second most vulnerable. Number 1 was last season when he thought he lost Christopher. 3rd being nearly not getting back into firefighting.
Yes, Oliver’s acting is amazing, but can we talk about how good the actor for the mom is! The little flinches she does when he raises his voice, the tearing up, but you still feel like she genuinely believes that she hasn’t done anything wrong. It feels like she actually thought that Buck was completely fine and mentally stable.
I know I'm a little late for this, but I agree that Buck is the one hurting the most. It hurts to know that the real reason his parents are never around him and are so distant from him is the fact that he's only brought into the world to save his older brother and that his parents never truly wanted him.
Yes! When Mr and Mrs Buckley gave the box to Maddie, they casually acknowledged that there was none for Buck when he asked about what was rightfully his. Callous and cruel parents.
This was a really powerful scene with amazing performances by Dee Wallace and Gregory Harrison (as Mr & Mrs Buckley) as well as Kenneth Choi, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Oliver Stark. I felt as if I was witnessing a family crisis unravelling before my very eyes. Chimney clearly showed his discomfort at the tension between the parents and their children with his features exemplifying the look of "I would rather be somewhere else". Maddie was unsuccessfully trying to defuse the situation while attempting to make her parents see the truth. Buck was driven by his pent-up resentment and anger towards his parents who tried to rationalize their inexcusable behavior by brushing off everything that was said by their children. Mr and Mrs Buckley demonstrated, at the very least, their lack of care and concern for both Maddie and Buck; at most, they showed their cruelty by their callous attitude. Where were they when Buck was hospitalized and had a painful recovery period due to his injuries? Why didn't they come out to Los Angeles upon receiving the news that Maddie barely survived Doug's attacks? Did they express any feeling of sympathy to Chimney who nearly died because of Doug? Instead, they casually brushed off the fact that they did not attend Maddie's wedding as well as their ignorance that Doug was abusing their daughter. Their behavior was absolutely reprehensible! For me, this scene was powerful due to its depiction of reality despite being a fictional tv show. Growing up with narcissistic and self-centered parents who had been abusive emotionally towards me, this scene sends a clear message that these types of parents are just as bad as those who physically abuse their children. Physical scars often heal with time. Emotional scars can last a lifetime, especially while the parents are still alive.
I actually totally forgot about that… even before the reveal that Buck and Maddie had parental issues, that should’ve been a large hint. Both of them almost died in a horrible traumatic way, and their parents never came to see them? Not even a call? Abby says that Buck made National news once in S1, why didn’t we get any word from his parents?
@@s.nnerrrr8264 No arguments from me! Mr and Mrs Buckley had a twisted way of showing their love to Maddie and Buck.
