Creating a handmade custom DIY surreal art collage is easy! I share my tips and techniques on how I create my analog collages as I cut out pictures and illustrations out by hand with a small pair of scissors and a craft knife. Finding inspiration from old books is one of the most fun steps to this process. These can come from used books, encyclopedias, magazines, vintage postcards, or anything else you can find lying around your house. I find most of my books and magazines from thrift stores, antique stores, flea markets, Craigslist, or even on the side of the road! Watch as I arrange my elements and try different ideas as I talk through my process to create my final design.
Collages made out of paper have a custom made feel that you can't get from a digital collage made in Photoshop. And, there is an added challenge of only being able to use materials that you have access to!
Want to try creating your own? Just grab a magazine, scissors, and a glue stick!

I love when you laugh yourself of your own ideas 🌟
I get so excited when you post. You are so creative, pleasant and inspirational. I hope the algorithm recommends you to every single person on RUclips
Rosie thank you for everything you do. You actually inspired me last year to have a go at collaging and now I'm six months into having a stall at a local monthly art market selling my wares. A midlife crisis to be proud of. Thanks for the inspiration.
Oh it’s Rosie, I always love when you post something just makes me so happy to see you. As always I love it, but I don’t think you have ever done anything I didn’t love. Can’t wait to see you again you’re the greatest.😊❤️👍
Clever. Makes me want to go find a sign and glue ♥️🐠🏬
A great way to creatively upcycle a wooden panel,The final piece has a great retro feel enhanced by the blow edges of the original panel. The fish ladies worked out really well too a fun surreal element to this piece, they invoke a painting by the surrealist painter Rene Magritte called "collective invention" that he painted in 1934.Turning the panel to a landscape format was an inspired moment as well and totally made the piece.! (matt)
Looked up that painting and LOVE it. Thanks for sharing
You know what I liked best: when your mall scene covered only half of the sappy kisses sign. I thought that was super snarky and sorta apropos re the fish theme. But in the end, I love what you made. It reminded me of shopping at the mall in the 1960’s. There was even a Woolworths! Memories.
Rosie,I love your videos. You have such a great eye for what looks good. And,you have a wonderful sense of humor =:) Thank you.
The best part is always you enjoying your process with a little giggle ☺️
Yaaaay!! I love when I turn on RUclips and there you are! So awesome! And yesterday I was at the artist project in Toronto and the lovely Flanzella was there all set up with her amazing art! I was telling her you guys should do another collaboration together! (She’s all in) Lol I’m sure it’s a lot of work for both of you but it’s just so awesome aaaand it makes all your viewers very happy! 😅 *no pressure 😆
The way you cut and then spliced the background image to make it horizontal is so inspiring! It seems like your film studies background may be once again helping you visualize the possibilities. (I almost wrote "think outside the box," but that's just as cliche as these wooden signs!)
Now sunday are the best day of the week 😊
I love Kathleen illustrated!
WOW what a real surreal cool ending!!! Great job, as always.
I love this so much, Rosie! Well done! Very well done indeed! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Cute! I always think how will this come together? Every single time you make it work!
Well, this is pretty wonderful! I so love your enjoyment of your own work! Thanks much! Kathleen
I love your collages Rosie and how you have so much fun making them! 😊

This one's awesome!
Precioso. .m encantó!!!❤
This video appears to have the same shelves behind you as the Altoids one, but in a different niche with a different wall behind you! Do you move the shelves around for different videos?
Haha wasn't sure if anyone would notice! I moved my art studio into a different room of my house and am still kind of figuring out the best way to set up the background but the shelves are a staple
👍❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🤗
😊👍👋
The fish people are the opposite of mermaids.
Good project. 🐠🐟🧑🤝🧑
