This is really a song that all girls can relate to, not just famous ones. Girls are CONSTANTLY told that their worth is tied to their youth. We're told we hit "the wall" at 30 and from there our worth as a woman goes down. It's scary, to the point where I'm 23 years old and I'm dreading each passing day because I'm terrified of losing my youth.

@@reflejos4676 This is too complex to discuss in RUclips comments, but briefly: Older men are seen as distinguished, older women are not. It's true in so many aspects of society and life. The problem is magnified in the entertainment industry, where women can't book jobs after 30 because they are viewed as "unfu*kable". It's okay for us to think about this issue with a focus on the female experience. It doesn't mean that the male experience doesn't exist, it's just that we are not talking about that right now.
Joni Mitchell was a pioneer of modern songwriting, but I definitely understand you can’t know everyone. Blue by Joni is one of the best albums of all time you should check it out.
As somebody who has abandonment issues, I can't even begin to explain how deeply this song hurts my feelings. Especially the lines "will you still want me when i'm nothing new" and "are we only biding time till I lose your attention" because that's exactly how I've always felt in relationships and friendships, just waiting for the moment where they get bored of me and replace me with someone prettier, funnier or just better in general 😭😭
the brigde its not writen in a romantic way. she is talking about a new young girl singer that could take her place in the music industry and the "new pop star". Thats why she is saying "would you still want me when im nothing new". Please more phoebe and taylor reactions !

i honestly think the bridge is about olivia rodrigo - the concept is something taylor has struggled with especially once she turned 30 a few years ago, she began worrying about falling out of the spotlight and living a more lowkey life but you could tell she didn't want that and olivia becoming so big in 2021 and growing up such a big fan of taylor swift and they're both so talented and able to bring to life so much emotion in their songwriting isn't common so olivia becoming so popular amplified taylor's fear and possibly what influenced the rift between them and now taylor is on the absolute top of popularity again after her breakup last year & she keeps olivia at a distance

I was always thinking in two possbile way about who is she talking to in the bridge: 1) another young woman, entertainer, hence the 17 line, who will come into the industry but maybe won't have to suffer the same way Taylor did because she like paved the path for her or showed her "the map" what to do. 2) herself, that her younger self will meet her future self, who will know all the things the young didn't know yet, but basically the younger self is working on the way the future self will live her life. But the first theory makes more sense I guess, and thankfully I don't think gaylors think this is like romantic song to another woman, I think even they understand what is this song about...not to say that there are other songs that are clearly not qeerly romantic but gaylors think they are, like seven, but this one is safe...I hope lol
