Better jump on that retirement brother. Seen too many hard working business owners leave the world before they left the business. Life's too short to spend it breaking your back and not ever getting to enjoy the fruits of that labor. I'll probably never be able to retire, but ima die trying
I know this was posted a year ago. I’m late to the party. And I’m young. 37. Been in the auto industry for 22 years. Started from the bottom. Been in management for 10+ of that. Some of this about made me cry because it’s fortunate you did what most won’t. You did it for yourself and now others. We all get to where you are in your mind set but you’re blessed enough to get to provide the next gen with a lane to continue the trade and that’s all I’ve ever wanted. Awesome shit man.
It was watching your videos that gave me a reason to bring my boat to your shop. After moving in the Lax area from the Madison area I knew one guy in the area that runs a Skeeter and tournament fishes alot. I asked him what is the best shop around here. His response was no good shops and to go to Chippewafalls. I gave Power House a shot on a new boat and got ripped off huge!! I bought a used boat up north and had issues right away. I even changed the water pump myself and I am confident in my work. But it was not pumping like it should. Brought it to Team Marine. Dropped it off. Got a call that day. It was done!! Neil ran a higher pressure flush and cleared out what ever was blocking the water intakes. And did not charge me. I met you (Andy) when I picked up the boat and Andy said yup it was simple so no charge. Well as long as I am living in the area Team Marine will have a life long customer. It's been a few years and no issues with my boat but when there is (and there will be...it's a boat) you will see me again.
As a self-made business man myself I've never heard such a honest and heart felt portrayal of a man's struggle to build his business the honest American way, hat's off to you Andy.
Andy, this is from one business owner to you. I really appreciate you for opening up with your thoughts as i saw myself to this day. I really cried inside because of you being me and me being you. Family first, take care of your employees ( which i can tell you do) and both family and employees will take care of you. Believe man, believe. Ive never met you except for the last 18 months i been following you daily.... but believe in what you're doing and i give you my two thumbs up 👍 😉
completely understand 20 years in automotive world. hate cars now but boats are my hobby now. I like how real this guy is dont kiss ass just tells it how it is.
I've been going through the exact same thing . I can't find any young guy that is interested in paying their dues and are worth the trouble and time it takes to train them. It takes a person that wants to be a boat mechanic and nothing else. It is a piecemeal industry on it's best day and can be so frustrating but I love it. I'm just tired and ready to slow down and prepare to hand it off to the next generation. My kids have zero interest in it.
Looking back at 45, I can't believe that it's been 15 years now. Andy life starts moving faster and 60 will be here tomorrow... owning a small business is scary, disastrous and rewarding. Thank you for inspiring me during tough times. Godspeed 🍺🎣
Andy, I'm retired, widowed and spend a lot of time on you tube, you are my favorite you tube site because you are hard working, honest and entertaining.Enjoyed listening to your story of having a successful business thru sacrifice and hard work.I have bass fished on the club level since 1982 in Florida and have owned several bass boats and motors thru the years and have experenced all the problems you can imagine. Wish your were nearby since all we seem to have around here are inept morons to work on our stuff. Keep up the good work and bless your family and all the dedicated folks you have surrounded yourself with !!
Good stuff. Brother ! And familiar. I'm a career truck driver. I drove my first 11 years for someone else, learning everything I could, pushing myself to keep up with the top 5 driver's of the company, doin the best I could for the owner (my first customer) taking the best care i could of his customers. Then I decided to buy my own truck and leased it on with him. then 9/11 happened and he went out of business and i took my truck out west and the rest was a repeat of the beginning, my second customer was my employer and that was how I always treated my company, taking care of his customers was top priority. They don't teach that stuff anymore, but it's the key to success.......... thanks for sharing this, you're my kinda people. I'm glad to have found you in my retirement, ❤👍✌️. Keep doing what your doing.
Andy, you are a true American entrepreneur. The heart of this country is small businesses like yours. You’re one of the best in the marine business, and you should rightfully feel proud of your accomplishments. I love your videos and honest evaluations. Kudos my man, onward and upward!
Very Similar to my story Andy. After 20 plus yrs in the Service, sales and Parts business it was kinda bittersweet when we finally decided to sell the shop. There's days when I miss it,and there's days that I look back on that make me ok with our Decision.Just another chapter in this crazy thing we call Life.I bet you and me would be able to write a really good book about how to start up your own Boat and Or Motorcycle Repair Shop.Keep up the You Tube Stuff Fellas,I really enjoy everything you guys are doing.it always brings back the fond memories from our Shop.
Andy, keep doing what you are doing. You have a great following and are so interesting to watch. You have a great business going and I hope at least you consult or stay in it. Your experience is so valuable to us as boaters and fisherman and we really enjoy watching you. I could watch fishing shows all day, but I divert to your videos every day as they show real compassion to what you do and it relates to us for what we are and what we do. Thank you and hope to continue to see new videos every week.
You can tell Andy is very passionate about what he does. Mad respect to you man. It’s hard to start, run and keep a business going. To those who are local to Team Marine, I highly suggest doing business with this guy! I know I would if he was close to me. 👍👍👍
You guys keep it real and honest, so much of stuff turns into an ad or a channel to make money by having people taking money. The part that stick out the most to me is on that goofy BRP outboard that is half underwater. It was stupid and you called it as such!
Congrats on your many years in the marine industry Andy! Running a business isn't easy, especially to start your own. You have made it work, and should be proud of what you built!
Thanks for the video Andy and Jordan. I ran my own business for 34 yrs from scratch. Started the company by pawning two shotguns for the money to start up. And so you did a great job of expressing what it takes to do what you do. I think it is all about what I call ( Want to ). And I'm not going to fail.
FYI, I'm a truck driver. I do a majority of my research though you tube. I am not watching while driving but I can listen. Ty for your content. Maybe you already covered it but just in case. Outboard jet motors. Pros cons salt to fresh shallow to ? I live in Nortn Mississippi. Less likely to be in Salt but it's a goal to hit the coast line
While making money is the ultimate goal. Finding and doing what u love in life is what’s most important. U have proven hard work and dedication rewards you in the end. Congratulations to you.
I only have one thing to say your dad is looking down right now saying yup that's my son you truly are a great man I look forward to your videos every Friday keep up the great work 👍
Outstanding video by a true American living the American dream. PS: my first boat was a sports pal canoe with a 3 hp Sears outboard. After many aluminum 9.9 hp boats, several rangers one with a Johnson gt150, I can relate to the evolution of a lover of fishing and boats.
Congratulations guys that’s what’s wrong with most people now days not willing to do what it takes to make it 👍👍👍👍👍 keep it coming brother still waiting on your hoodies 😂😂😂
You could have been telling my life story there. As the owner of Boatworks in Forsyth GA I can feel your pain. I started in a one Bay shop and work my way up to a 10,000 square foot building and seven employees after 18 years I decided to down scale sold my building and just me and one loyal guy in a smaller shop and it has reinvigorated me be back in the shop where it all started and get away from the people management I love your videos can't wait for your next one keep on keeping on
Thanks for your passion and candidness. Only found this channel recently but have really enjoyed watching the videos. Keep up the awesome work and I look forward to what’s to come.
Me and wife run our own business and we understand how it can get out of control and how much work it takes to be successful! I love your videos and I hope you find something to keep you going! I’ve been considering quitting and giving up sometimes it feels useless to keep going!
This was an awesome story and im glad I got to hear it. I enjoy watching all your videos and look forward to the next one. You have a passion for this industry and not only can you see it, you can hear it in your voice and actions. I would love to meet you one day and just have you give me a tour of your shop. I've ordered your merchandisetwice. The second order I received a hat and t-shirt, but this time I got a card from you that had the "speed money no brakes" on it also you signed it. I thought that was the shit. I was telling my wife...Look look he even signed it and im 53 years old. Lol. Well anyways thank you for what you do and I hope to see and hear you for many years to come. Anyways I love ya Andy and I really hope to meet you one day. I was forced into early retirement from a work injury so I watch you all the time. Stay strong and don't give up. Love ya man ........ Speed, Money no Brakes.. thanks,, Robert.
Thanks Andy for sharing us your up bringing of a business owner and how hard it is. My parents own a farm and they work their asses off every day sun up to sun down! Glad Neil is still with u through all the hard time much respect to him. Speed, money no brakes let go!
have you ever thought about doing like how to videos on like basic maintenance and upkeep to like advances trouble shooting on motors and stuff I'm sure there is a lot we can learn from you with all these years of experience
Great back story man. Similar story with cars and boats with me. Love them both but never funded properly . Learn to fix what you can afford and enjoy.
I sure wish we had a shop around here that cares, understands, and has knowledge. I dream of having passionate guys like you guys fixing my boat, I know it would be done right. Maybe I can make the journey and tow my rig to your shop to get my boat back to where everything works again. My motor seems strong still but the electrical sucks! Livewells don't hold anymore, finders turn off when I start boat, motor mount, bearings are shot. It definitely is tough! Thanks

For some strange reason Andy, forums and RUclipsrs have a super hard time getting along, for the life of me I don’t know why.
andy thats the American dream you lived it
Fold up 20hp Johnson? Wow, never heard of that one!
Wish he was close to me ! Andy would be my Marine guy *😊😊😊
Team marine coming to the classic?
One day!
There used to be a "Team Marine" here in middle TN. They used to be the go to dealer/service shop in the area. That's been years ago, I always wondered if the two were related. Would you happen to know anything about that?
I don't think its your thing but you should do a your favorite deep V series.
What year did you start with your own shop. ?
The shops been around since 93
Is that a soda machine in your shop? Shop tour soon?
Do you have a 36v 60” ultrex link?
Can you start doing how to fix videos
