I somewhat agree although don't forget they are probably locals and have most probably stood and heard a good few times when she first started busking there. Also, most people are commuting back and forth with work and whatever else they need to do, I'm sure most, if they had a few minutes would stand and listen:)
But there are of course a number of people who maybe are not bothered to listen or not and just pass by haha

I remember this song as a teenager when it first came out, and Allie has absolutely nailed it with her amazing voice. She has such a talent for bringing back to life these great old songs!
I like to say Allie sings Old School, Live ! Just my opinion, but today seems like most people get wrapped up in all these production numbers you see ! Give me a live Allie Sherlock performance where you get her heart and soul in the performance, I'll take that every time over a manipulated production number ! 🎤🎸🎶

Otherwise you must be extremely old, because versions of this song have been around in this form since the beginning of the 20th century 😀 And older forms go back a very long time..

I remember this being released as a teenager of the north east of England. Liverpool had the Beatles we had the Animals. Absolutely insane that I find this superb rendition almost 60 years later. Fabulous and brings back so many memories of those exciting times. Credit to Tony Begg who commented earlier and was fortunate to witness a live performance at Redcar Jazz Club. I wish I'd been there.
The song has been around for generations and the Animals were a copy of the earlier Lonnie Donegan issue. What has always been a curiosity is that it appears to be the story of a woman that has never been recorded as such by a woman. I could not fault Allie's performance beyond saying that I would have liked her to reclaim the song and sung it as a woman entrapped, by circumstances, in the House of the Rising Sun.

Lmao, this really is a great one to watch the crowds reactions. I’m usually entranced when Allie sings, but the whole crowd looks legit hypnotized or drugged or something and there’s a number of comical double takes and people stopping in their tracks. Wonderful as ever Allie!!

Their version (the OG) was a good song in general but most covers have easily beat it. The original was too fast and needed it to be less rock-y.

Well Ireland is a cold and wet country most days of the year. (much like my own country).
Maybe that have something to do with it. In warm countries more to the South, people also seem to be warmer in general. And of course they live more outside of the house.

When I sang this song about 50 years ago, people started yawning because they already had heard it so many times.
Nevertheless it is great to hear it 50 years later, after not hearing it for quite a while, sung with such verve and musical competence.
Her voice is crystal clear, i can follow the song as i sit here reading " but have to stop to listen as she brings the song alive in her own special way.. god bless her ❤⚘👏
The house of Raising Sun is a traditional American folk blue song from the Appalachia. The song was made famous by the Animals originally called Rising Sun Blues
Allie soulful voice brings out the depth of this song.
With respect, no one knows the origin of this song, but it most likely did not originate in Appalachia. Long before the Animals created a rock song by recording it in 6/8 rhythm, the song was first recorded in 3/4 time by several early 20th-century artists, most notably Hudie (Leadbelly) Ledbetter. Music historian Alan Lomax suggests that the basic lyrics were first created in New Orleans, probably before the Civil War and spread from there. He discovered the song in 1937 in Middlesborough, KY, sung for him by the young daughter of a coal miner. The roots of the song, not the lyrics, but the style and concept are somewhat related to earlier English & Celtic folk ballads brought to this country by earlier immigrants.
Joan Baez covered it a few years before the Animals.

It's not their song though. This song was written decades before they covered it, and recorded by artists such as Leadbelly and Woody Guthrie back in the 40s. It's origins go back to sometime around the 1920s.
