To be honest I know longer use photoshop anymore. There are a lot of features and brushes and the Krita community is growing and the best part it is FREE! :) Thank you, for making great software.
Tell that all your friends and we'll grow even more! .Thanks //RM
@@KritaOrgPainting trust that I am, but please don’t betray us we’ve been through enough 😢
I've been hoping for this! Been using this program for a year now and I love it so much. Pls also consider adding 'paste on same layer' option as well in the next update!
Is included already. Go to edit/ paste into active layer and done! //RM
I really admire the hardwork and dedication of the Krita team. I'm so grateful to you guys! You're all amazing!
Thanks Ramon, very useful video!
Thanks too for watching it. Nice avatar.
Thanks for all the love and care the developer give to make Krita ❤️
I've wanted to record like this (canvas-only recording), so I tried, and it works great. Thank you so much for creating this fantastic software.
I've been using this feature extensively ever since it was in the beta! Wanted something like this for years and it works great. xD
My disk space has suffered tho. I have a habit of starting a lot of WIPs, which now means having a lot of WIP timelapses too.
Pro tip: if you find yourself with a 100gb timelapse folder and you need the disc space. Render it into a video, and delete the source screenshots. The video will be small, and you can start recording again, then put together the first and second part in a video editor when you're finished. Just remember to not delete the video you rendered, because you deleted the source. I just save that video with "DONT DELETE" at the end, so i know what it is. xD
Thank you for sharing your methods!!
After watching and searching through a buncha videos I finally realized my mistake- looks like I created an entire drawing without remembering to click the "Record" button ;-;
That was a mistake on my behalf though bc I wasn't patient enough to watch all the way :/
That aside though, this video and feature are actually pretty amazing! Thank you Krita for being free and giving us these cool features :)
This will be VERY handy for those of us who love making Speedpaint videos! What a great tool! 😁❤️
I watched 5 Videos, until this, very informative video explained what I needed!
best free software ever
Yayy! I love this!
this was so incredibly helpful, thank you so much!!
Hi. Love Krita and all your videos. Any chance Krita is going to add more comic friendly features, like creating and working on multiple pages and frames like Clip Studio? Would love to leave clip studio behind and work only in Krita :)
Love these tutorial videos!
Keep up the good work
i did it yay 🙌 thank you for the explanation
Thank you for this video Ramon. I really appreciate your efforts.
That's was such a good drawing man
Wow, this is great!! Thanks so much and thanks to Krita for this option! 😄🌟
Brilliant video and very well explained... I'm a first time user and this video helped me a lot. Thanks to the teacher!
If I create several groups with several layers in each group, collapse the group (so only the group folder/title is showing and none of the layers within), save the file, close Krita, restart Krita and open the file again, then ALL groups are opened (un-collapsed). This means that I have to take time to close all the groups, hind the layers, that I am not working on. Krita should open files and remember which groups were collapsed and which were not from when the file was last saved.
This is especially problematic when you have groups within groups, etc.
Really helpful. Thank you.
Beats my method of ctrl + z'd undoing everything and then redoing
sir Thank you so much
you are genius
i have been loving using krita so much and i always discover a new thing that makes me fall in love with krita more 💗
It works, but only if I let the final result in the end, for some reason
Can you explain it a bit more ? I don't understand what you mean, maybe i can help you better. Thanks //RM
Thank you so much for this great explanation! I'm going to try it out today!
Have fun! ;) ans please share it krita-artists.org or here//RM
good and very useful feature
I followed the instructions to the T and I still ended up getting the little red x saying not found. I clicked the little folder next to it and found the unzipped ffmpeg file. I then opened the file all the way until I got to a couple of different folders and there, I selected the folder that said "bin", then I selected the folder that said "ffmpeg" and that's what worked for me. 🤷♀
YAY FINALLY!!!. I'm so excited. I've wanted this in Krita
W000www!! YEsss!! This is perfect!!!
Thanks mate! i hope it helps a lot of people.
this was incredibly helpful!
Mine works but I always get this glitchy black boxes in my videos, sometimes it went all black on the video
Cool! Thanks for sharing.
I keep getting "error code -22" what does that mean?
thank you so much for the video! very helpful :)
love love love krita and the krita team! Where to get your brushes? They look so versatile!
I did it! thank you!
Awesome sir.
It doesn't work, it only shows one long video of the final image
Please report to krita-artists.org. There devs or other users could help you. The community is very suportive. //RM
epico!! thanks!!
I hope collaboration with blender in future
Hi, i made my timelapse video and it played well on pc, but it unable to be played on phone. Can you help me ? Thanks
The file format probably can't play on your device. You can use a program like HandBreak to convert the video to a different format.
I have the same problem. I tested it on two different cell phones and I can't see the video on them, but on the computer the video opens normally. The format in which I saved the video was MP4 x264. Did you manage to resolve this?
My videos are all deformed, how fo i fix it?
It only gets exported in 1:1 Ratio , and it just squishes everything into a square ruining the whole thing
I usually start with a4 canvas and crop it to fit my needs as i go , does this have anything to do with that?
could you report it to krita-artists.org please ?that helps, Maybe if you add the orginal file, or publish some screenshots.. that can help //RM
bout time
Very great feature. Can this be used for 2D animation ?
Yes, krita has animation feature
Finally!
i hope you like it
@ oh, i do!
Is there an option in krita to make timelapse of only one layer but for me to see both layers all the time?
Hello I have some suggestions
Bug fixes
Custom Theme Color
New brushes
Saved color(even thought there is swatches)
Please add this thanks
Thanks for the tips!. About new brushes what are you refering to? i need more info. The other things is based on human resources and time. //RM
I've used recorder function on windows pc. Recently got android tablet. I can do image sequences through recorder. Is there a way to import ffmpeg into android tablet?
I have Krita 5.0.5 🥰🥰
which brush do you use in this video? awesome :D
thank's
I'm having trouble working with krita 5.05 from time to time while I'm using the brush tool. The program doesn't respond to pressing the spacebar or ctrl+spacebar on the keyboard, it frustrates me.😶
Have you solve it? if not let me now. or go to krita.artists.org and tell us more about that. thanks //RM
How do I stop the end picture from starting my time-lapse
When you export disable the option called "enable result preview" //RM
I've already tried it a while ago, still trying to get the hang of it 😅
👏👍
Will it be possible to record just one layer even if there are other visible layers in the same project? (Pretty much like the "isolate mode" shown in the video but with all the layers visible only to the painter...)
uh, how do i do this on windows 11? because i been trying for an hour and it wont work
The krita 5 won't open on my Ubuntu 20.04, I tried to restart it but no luck.
sorry, can you give a more detailed info in krita-artists.org? there devs can help you //RM
This is such a clever feature!!
BUILT IN SPEEDPAINT FEEATURE!!! WHOAHOW!!! YAY FINALLY!!!
I love this function! I have made several time lapses, so far! However, i tried to compile a new video last night and got an FFmpeg error. Where is best to try to trouble shoot that? I don't want to take up space here! 🐺
What brushes resources do you use in krita fore personal artworks ? Plz need a list
my 6000x4800px, 150dpi canvas took like 4-5gb of space on 2 sec, half quality, 80% jpeg. any suggestion on reducing the size but not sacrificing that much quality?
you can resize the output of the video recorder during export, i mean you don't really need a 6000x4800px resolution timelpase video :P something arround 1080p should be more than enough for any viewer xD so yea...
Hi
in your video I see 17 frames when exporting, mine says 120 frames.
How to set that? Because the video runs too fast.
regards
DAB
You can slow down the video in that part with youtube speed. Maybe helps you //RM
Hey, I have a question/problem. I recently finished multiple pictures and clicked stop recording, but did not export my files and closed the program. I have all of the original files for the time-lapse, but cannot export them even when I open the original picture it recorded. Is their any way to convert all of the jpegs into a single mp4? I don't want all of them to burn a hole in my PC, but I don't have the heart to delete all of them...
Also, yes I did attempt to use those "jpeg to mp4" programs and sites, but they all barely record 6-7 seconds worth of images instead of what should be like 2-3 minutes.
sorry about your issue, please report your issue to krita-artists.org and there you can get more help. I would use in this case a fast solution. I would use any video editor , for example i use Kdenlive and create the new file with the output image resolution, import your images as a sequence, then export to mp4 and you have your video. but please report your issue to prevent developers something needs to be improved or at least analized. Thanks //RM
I have krita 5 Not able to open ffjepg for the recorder. Ned help.
2:30 is enough i don't know where is the problem pleaase explain with more detail //RM
Hey, does Krita offer an option to trace images and record only the layer I'm drawing on, in order to make an animated video?
this would be a great feature, to be able to right click a layer and make it not recordable
I found a bit of a work around, I'm using Gromit-MPX (on linux) to trace the image on to the screen, then reduce the opacity of the Gromit-MPX screen drawing and load up Krita. You can then start tracing the Gromit-MPX lines on to Krita and when you are recording the Gromit image doesn't show.
Yes! If i´m not wrong, you can achieve that by using the "Record in Isolate Mode" from the recorder docker. Not excactly sure about how to use it, but you can give it a try!
What are these brushes and where can I download them? :D Thanks!
Hello, I am using Krita5. I followed the right steps to download ffmpeg file. But in Krita, it doesn't show ffmpeg.exe in recorder docker box to export. There is still wrong mark. I browsed it into ffmpeg bin. In the bin, it just shows these three- ffmpeg, ffplay, ffprobe. Please help me.
You need to select the ffmpeg.exe in the bin you went into. Go to the recorder docker, click the folder icon beside the FFmpeg field, go to the ffmpeg bin you mentioned, select ffmpeg.exe, after that it should be a check mark instead of a red cross and you can start exporting your recordings.
It works now! Thank you😊
@@Lynn-tc6dv You're welcome! :D
Mine still won't read my ffpeg
What if you're working on multiple pieces simultaneously and want to record each?
Just wanted to ask in case some people don't know about it yet, but, have you all heard about the slap?
Hello, each time i click on export i get a huge list of errors and "code -22" is the one most listed. Please what can i do to resolve this problem?
please report it. or go to krita-artists.org and explain there your issue with screen captures and more info
instead of using ffmpeg.exe try selecting ffplay.exe. Worked for me
Is there any way to separate the result for each project without using any video editor? I draw different projects and theyre all clumped in one video eventho I stopped and exported everytime I finished one project. But the previous ones still in the video.
Hi! Whenever you start a new project and select Record for the first time, you can select a different folder for each folder. In this way, when you click Export, it will only export the project in which you are working on!
if i stopped the recording, can i still continue my video?
Si, solo hay que volver a pulsar el boton de grabacion . Krita almacena todas la imagenes en una carpeta, puedes irte de vacaciones y seguir pintando despues que las añadira a lo que ya tenias. Al exportar lo junta todo y crea el video. //RM
I have an older computer. (I have a Macbook Pro too but this is in regards to a Windows 10 computer). It is an i3 2.9Ghz with 12GB of ram , with onboard Intel HD 4400 graphics. It's 1920x1080 with a graphics tablet. Is this "saving snapshots" process every second going to be too difficult for this particular PC?
Nope. It won't be an issue.
My Laptop is 7 yrs old. i7 with 8GB ram. Handles it just fine.
My Records just got deleted now :(
Is there a way I can recover? It's not in the recycle bin
I don't have a winzip subscription what do i do with the zipped file?
you can use 7zip. Let me know if that helps //RM
why is this on april 1st is this real or a joke
Hey I tried to move my timelapse mp4 from computer to mobile and the file became corrupt suddenly, did it happen to anyone else? I tried sending it to my phone through Bluetooth btw. Retried sending it through Bluetooth and the file still remained corrupted. Is there any fix for this?
sorry for your issue. Is the video playable at least? Does it happens with other videos? What configuration are you using for saving the file exactly? and last. Is your ffmpeg file the same as i talk about in the video? i hope this helps you a bit. No problems here until now here //RM
Krita 5 have some issues.. and bugs
Yes like other softwares, for sure. So the team is working constantly to provide better releases. With more support, better releases too :) //RM
Hey Krita when i extracted the zip it doesnt show a ffmpeg.exe file it shows multiple files i dont know how to fix this if you can help id appreciate it, (I dont see the bin file more so different files)
Same problem
I do the tutorials but something always goes wrong
Don't other programs also show the strokes made in recordings.
We'll lose some info if we only take a snapshot
No? All other apps I've used (such as Procreate) also take a snapshot per "action."
All a video is, is more snapshots (more than one snapshot per "action" e.g. 30 fps is 30 snapshots per second instead of 1 per action). This would cause recordings to take up way more space, especially because most snapshots at professional image resolutions, even when downscaled by the recorder, are larger than 1080p.
@@Giant-Enemy-Crab From a technical perspective, there is a huge difference between videos and images. It's why GIF is such a truly awful container for sequences of images, all the cons of image formats combined with few to none of the benefits of video. The main difference between storing image sequences in image rather than video containers, video tends to store changes between specific images rather than entire new images. Each video frame doesn't store its own name, color space, either.
So yeah, the cons of the current implementation does make it infeasible for Krita to store partial strokes specifically, it certainly doesn't have to be the case. There is overhead to saving images, you have to go through the operating system and by extension, the filesystem which is magnitudes slower and computationally expensive compared to having a single large block of data with a very simple index, an approach other software might take. I have no clue about if other software does it, but, I find it very plausible that other software could perform the task with additional capabilities as mentioned.
The way I would design the recorder system (from scratch, that is, not in Krita), store strokes in an abstract form in memory with occasional dumps to a data file, store key points in a stroke path, store key points with location and timestamp, store an image of the final stroke, then rebuild the image from these stored strokes, interpolate between key points before switching to the saved final stroke. Now you can build a video file with this information, with strokes.
@@TheLolilol321 Interesting. Yeah, every other app I've used, at least in the final video they output, also replays each action in a way that suggests similar snapshotting, although I don't actually know their implementations for certain.
Anyways, I'm just some guy who's also used other apps and so could make a comparison, maybe also share your write-up to the Krita forums and suggest your improved implementation? There's a feature request section for such suggestions. Although I do worry that such a "replay" method of capturing seems very prone to bugs (like they often are in video games), especially compared to just capturing with OBS. But again, I'm just a user, so what do I know lol.
@@Giant-Enemy-Crab I literally started drawing this Christmas, the krita brush system is quite flexible and capable of some fairly complex stuff, I have no idea how any of Krita works and would yes it would likely take a lot of iteration to get right, there are many other areas I'd rather be prioritized since, as you mention you can just literally record the process. It's a pipe dream, pure speculation.
@@TheLolilol321 Ah I see, well, thanks anyway for the technical info, best of luck on your art journey!
Hello! I tried using this recorder docker, and it works for timelapse paintings, but I want to do content that involves moving my painting, and the recorder docker doesn't record it. Is there something I could do to fix this? Or is the recorder docker only used for timelapses and gifs?
Then you need to record with "screen recorder" like OBS. Recorder docker is just to create timelapses for the people that don't want to show the entire interface and also don't want to edit their videos in a video editor //RM
I tried doing this and it actually worked! However, The quality just becomes really bad when I try to export the timelapse file, and I need to know how to fix it-
Hi, check your resolution when you export it. also check this out. docs.krita.org/en/reference_manual/dockers/recorder_docker.html //RM
@@KritaOrgPainting Omg thank you so much Krita! I will try :'D
PLEASE respond soonest.
