      Imagine this with the actual amount of frames put in an animated film. I think I counted 8 frames in this video. But that's from the pics I saw. Anime and animated films have somewhere between 10-48 frames per second. With Anime being on the lower end.

    Animators deserve to be known before the voice actors or any author of any kind of animation. Imagine a 24 min long episode of an cartoon or anime, and that particular show is love by the viewers without even recognizing its own animators, that is just the sad reality for animation. Respect for all the animators out there.

      That's why a lot shows use tricks like moving the background or only animating the mouth to make the viewer think there's more going on than there actually is. It's pretty genius.

      I think, the reason why animators are generally less unknown, because they must work in mega big team (like, hundreds of animators for a full length film). Each animator did only a couple of minutes animation (months ~ a year worth of work!). Mad respect indeed, for animators!!!

    My birthday is 1/6 so I took this as a birthday present. Thank you. (Belated, I know.) When i think back to what Disney was doing with his full length movies (I formed my first Disney club in Kansas City, and actually sat in Walt's grade school desk and went to the movies in the same building where he did his first animations) and have studied the whole animation process for many years ... I am in awe with your skill at doing all the work, even with the kind of tool Krita is. I saw storyboarding, basic sketching, key form layout, inking, coloring, layering (simulating the multiplane camera) and compressing all the meetings, arguments, and decisions needed at each step of the way (done in your head) ... well, that would have been at least 20 people working maybe two weeks on a sequence like that one. And you would be designer, sketch and layout, key animator, fill-in artist, inker, color painter, cel manager, cameraman, lab tech, film editor, etc. all by yourself (!) with digital medium and program. Your talent and skill at this is truly amazing. BTW, I am 80 now, and I wish I had stayed with animation and art, but I wandered away into the technical end. Still, you have taken all the advantages available to you to do the impossible: better than Pixar all by yourself. (I'm assuming this is the case!) Yours is a job well done. Congratulations!

    Overall great work.
    Lara's legs feel a bid weird after sliding, though. She kinda builds up momentum with her left leg, but she moves her left leg forward first, instead of the opposite, giving a sensation she's being pushed forward instead of actually running. Before the slide she kinda switches legs too.
    The first time I saw the animation in the beginning of the video I didn't noticed it directly, but I felt her motion had something off, then I understood why.
    Just to end on a good note, the lizard felt good, and scenario is beautiful.

      Dave Hanson What would you do to fix this “bad animation” then?

    • @fabbae215
      @fabbae215 4 года назад +7

      @Dave Hanson Nice opinion. But I think it's because of the vibrance of the colors of the animation that isn't cohesive with the environment, thus making them "floating".
      The tone of the characters are like during an afternoon but the setting is set during nighttime.
      The animation is actually good, I don't know what made you think that it isn't good?
      Perhaps, your standards are just too high I guess...

    • @qailai2913
      @qailai2913 4 года назад +10

      Carl Naredo I’m an animation student and I can say that colour has nothing to do with the animation looking “floaty”. It’s simply due to poor timing and the feeling of weight is off when she’s running (e.g. when her foot hits the ground when she first runs into screen). I’m not looking at the final product which includes the background and colours but simply the animation test when it was fully inbetweened.

      You do not have non single video where you show your skills, so how you pretend to criticize the hard work from another person if you didn't accomplish anything?

    • @jayc7171
      @jayc7171 4 года назад +2

      Dave Hanson I still would say this is bad lol. It takes aLOT to animate and he’ll get better overtime. Can’t expect it to be perfect each time. He of course should take criticism but to say it’s bad when it just needs work is meh.

    What i like about animation is that, other than planning, its mostly doing your job calmly on your own, nothing really hard to think about. Maybe 'how does this muscle work' or 'whats the color of this now?', and then just goes back to filling your sketch back up. It kind of reminds me of powerwash simulator in that sense.

    I know this was almost a year ago, but I love it! Great job! My only critique/thing that sticks out to me is your transfer of momentum after the slide. Lara slides into scene on her right leg, then pushes off with it to begin the run towards us, when it should be the other way around. Her left leg is "loaded" with that energy, and it would be a more believable motion to explode from her left leg after the slide, then exit from that. I dont know if anyone mentioned this already, but otherwise rather impressive, and really enjoyed the step by step! I dont do animation anymore but I love seeing talented people really crushing 2D animation
