+PurpleNovels First, I respectfully disagreed. @2:10, Cate said clearly that women inequality pay is true all across the broad from Teachers to Bankers. She wanted to problem to be fixed already (aka "move on"). Cate Blanchett also made many documents and films about women/girls inequality. Second, in US, women get paid at best 73 cents to a dollar of a man. They also often don't executive jobs or better jobs, even when they are technically and intellectually qualified. This has been going on since the beginning of time, and it hasn't stopped. +Claire Miller , Thank you for the confirmation and your civility & courteousness.
I'm always astonished by Cate's speaking voice. Her timbre and tone are so penetrating, and her articulation is flawless. She seems to use her full voice and knows how to project. That kind of command of one's speech (probably due in part to her theater training) is one of the few old remnants of the performing arts that I will miss when it's dies out.
Cate is SO annoyed with these kinds of questions. Thank god she has the grace to answer them in such a way to move the conversation of these issues forward.
in one word Cate is enigmatic.. at one side you can watch such intelligent and brilliant side of her where in ellen's show you can watch her being so natural and humorous .. that's something.. having all the elements in balanced nature. She is very special

Rooney is looks very mysterious and I like that. Very interesting, quiet abd reserved I guess. Those looks that she gave it was like she was communicating through her eyes. Very Deep ugh.
She may have completed a number of promotional interviews before the interview and more to follow. Tiring repeating much the same. It is what she has to do to sell the movie and her brand. They've all got a contract to fulfil including the camera people filming it.
Ok, what Cate meant was "let's move on with THE PROBLEM." Fix it already. There are too many standards that creates inequality caused by unequal pay. Until that is fixed, nothing is going to change. That's my take.
+agbizz It is fixed! Unequal pay doesn't exist anymore. Men do not get paid more doing the same job with the same experience, same qualification. It is discrimination and is illegal
+Eskubeltz taldea I asked the same question. Some people presume things are truth for all when it applies only to themselves and a small number of few, regardless of the contrary in mass majority. Neither USA, Australia, UK, and the rest of the world, women are treated equal. Bizarre but it is the way human are.
I love how Cate isn’t falling for the Interviewer’s dumb, rage-baiting questions. Looks like the Enquirer won’t have some fake ass story made up of her haha.
Cate is a gorgeous woman. She nails every single role she's being given. She looks stunning. She has a soothing voice. She's just everyone's dream for a wife.
i always put my head on my hand when i'm nervous and especially do it on the side that someone sits that makes me nervous. and i cant stop thinking how cate does the same thing on the side of rooney and with a so intimate topic about her and rooney. i dont think shes annoyed about the questions but nervous. you can also observe that in the way her and rooney move their hands when the interviewer talks about the s scene. throughout the entire interview cate seems nervous. which makes it incredibly nice to see that she can be nervous too
+Thurman Ulrich that is not true. there is a large pay disparity between male and female actors. blanchett has been vocal in support of the power structure in hollywood. she wants to work and does not want to offend. she is happy doing the projects she does. she wouldn't be in the kinds of films where large paychecks come into play. if you want to hear someone talk about pay disparity search for salma hayek at a movie festival giving a talk about it. her dialogue is very different than the kind of attitude you see cate display here. cate is a fine actress but is in a special place and if i sum up everything i know about her she doesn't have to care about the struggles of actresses in hollywood.
Especially while talking about Carol, a film made with pride, love and conviction thanks to a few investors who love cinema. Cate was attached from a long time, like she said, you don' t make this movie for the pay.
+Nim Boo do you people ever get sick of being so nauseatingly, and narcissistically self righteous. Grow a brain, some common sense and decency and maybe quit shoving your adult sky daddy fairy tales down everyone's throat...Christianity has NOTHING to do with the ACTUAL teachings in the scriptures and especially of the very important Christ myth which was reduced to trash by the christian tyrants.
From the beginning I had impression this guy interviewer was trying so much to be ,,over the top" of them. There is some vibe about him trying to be as ,,man" up and they as women to be ,,down". There was something that didnt make me feel comfortable when listening him, and then the question in the end..omg wtf? He directly asked them if they get payed more than men, i.e. he asked them about their money. I have no words for this rudeness and unprofessionality. But..that showed who he is, and Cate's graceful answer proved once again how amazing and inspirational Cate Blanchett is.
As a woman I have to say that the study they did for women inequality of pay was disingenuous. They did not consider a lot a factors like hours worked etc things that do matter in the end result. I want facts so, if you going to do it, do it right is all I am saying, cause you end up making us look stupid.
Rooney Mara is my favorite actress, I like she so much as a woman. In this interview, Cate Blanchett looks like she's in love with Ronney Mara, like a couple.♥️😘

+CraftyJane I think she means that it's 2015 and it's archaic that we still have to have these conversations, that it's still an issue in this day and age.
I watched a press conference where some guy asked about "strong women" roles being a new trend and she protested that in the same fashion (it was perfect! haha) so I understand her intention in answering to this interview better now. Thanks for your input too :)
+CraftyJane She said move on because It doesn't exist anymore. Men do not get paid more doing the same job with the same experience, same qualification. It is discrimination and is illegal. Cate actually has the knowledge that most feminist lack. These radical feminists are idiots and refuse to take responsibility for their own downfall.
PurpleNovels you must be kidding... luckily it's changing, but women DO still get paid less than men for doing the same exact job, with same qualifications (black women get even less). Culture is a slow-changing thing you see, so it will take time to change it, expecting an overnight change would be unrealistic. But to deny it's happening it's just absurd. Have you never heard of the glass-ceiling? or the glass escalator? Look around, it's happening in MANY fields still.
CraftyJane Not true at all. Companies CANNOT do that and they don't.IT IS ILLEGAL. All job applications even state that they do not discriminate based on race sex religion and gender. Now if it is some unheard of, private workplace no one knows about, then maybe (but not likely).
That annoying dude from BBC Breakfast TV is way out of his league here, and he's provocative in a funny passive aggressive way. June 13,2020 - I have always loved how Cate and Rooney were color coordinated for most of their Carol Movie (2015) interviews and press photos.
