Lifting the canopies in trees, revealing their trunks and clearing the tangled messes underneath makes a world of difference, we have been doing this on our 10acre plot since early 2020, we still have a few hedgelines to go but we are almost there. Seeing the trees breathing again and grass growing around them instead of weeds and twigs is such a massive pleasure to look at (plus if you ever sell, it’s nowhere near as daunting for a buyer). Hard work, but well worth it.
It does look much better. You’re statement “This is gonna take a while” is quite the understatement. Once it’s cleared and the posts repaired, it will be spectacular. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
Phil, you and Angelina cannot do the upkeep alone. You need a groundskeeper everyday plus you helping. Beause you have the moat, you have added stress over the silt, bridges, leaves, etc. If Billy and Gwen didn't have Mick their woods would be unuseable! But Mick is always, cutting trees, cutting trees and cutting trees. I love you driveway! And most people want a tree lined curved drive up to the chateau. But maintained and manicured. Hire for 2 days a week. if not more.
Hey Phil, the old driveway looks beautiful with the overgrowth cleared away. I love how you can see the Chateau on the other side of the moat. God Bless, Kathy 🇺🇸
Trimming the trees and bushes does make a big difference! It’s going to take allot of time; maybe more than you think. But as we know slow and steading wins the race, so parse the project into pieces and keep at it until finished. Cheers, Doc🇺🇸
This is a job for friends and family: in a group this is actually fun since its comes with instant rewarding and with all the dead wood you have enough for a bonfire. Apart from that Stephanie Jarvis knows an excellent treesergeon.
You've got a huge job ahead with just the vegetation - they all need trimming, shaping, etc. It also looks like there is a drain on the residence side of the road ? Looking like a good couple of months to finish the vegetation, then to the fence ... Keep up the good work and Love your channel !
Great work. I'm envisioning something elegantly organic. If the fence has no purpose, I'd consider removing it. Save a lot of time and money, and let nature directly guide the eye. I love the glimpses. You've made such a difference already!
Hello Phil and Angelina! Glad to see you back as I so enjoy your episodes. What’s been happening with your business in the village; Is it still going well? Would like to see what Angelina has done with the indoor outdoor spaces. The driveway entrance is going to look amazing when you get it to where you want it to be. Your château deserves a grand entrance!
Hi Phil, I'm glad you decided to do that. Already you have made a difference and I can visualise just how amazing the end product will be. Best wishes.
Impressive! While I'm all for providing food and shelter for wildlife, safety is a very human concern. Trimming along the driveway will make it safer coming,/going by car, and give ample view for large animals. I know deer are a huge concern where I live!
I would clear all the trees on the fence side, they were never meant to be there anyway. The rhododenrons could be cut back considerably in fall. Left on their own they can grow very tall and wide. We had an old plant at our farmhouse that was 3 1/2 meters high and just as wide.
Looks SO MUCH BETTER!! You asked for suggestions to make it more manageable… How about just start at the gates then work throughly cleaning out old trees, trimming the trees canopies up to reveal the lake and chateau, trimming shrubs & shaping bushes, raking/blowing SECTION BY SECTION instead of feeling overwhelmed by feeling like it all needs to be done at once? Just start the gate and work to thoroughly complete like 10-20 foot sections at a time. Ya think? May give you a better sense of accomplishment. You should already be proud of what you have accomplished however because it really does look a lot better. :) I have been so busy lately that I haven’t been in uou tube for the last few months and started watching today and have been HOOKED IN all over again! Lol I honestly CAN NOT believe how much work has been completed and how beautiful things are coming along since I’ve been “gone”. You should be so proud of yourself!! It’s really coming along and seems like you have really just somehow gotten some serious motivation to make enormous strides to make a huge improvement on the chateau. It’s really really coming along and looking beautiful!!! :)
Great idea to clear the undergrowth. People under estimate the value of pruning and clearing. As a previous comment was made. The larger trees will be happy to be able to breath again. A great winter project
Clearing the trees even more will help to make the driveway special. Recreating the posts will add more definition to the driveway. You definitely want to have a view of the chateau of the chateau. You just have to decide how much of a view and where you want that view to start. Either way, it will be a lot of cutting. Keep the good trees and cut down completely the scrub trees. Lots of firewood this year.
Hi Phil and Angelina good to see you, I love your channel and the two of you plus the gorgeous lightening, I’m loving the driveway, you’ve made such a difference, do you still have your pub and is it doing well, I do hope so, great vlog, much love xxxxxxxxxxxxxx😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I think what u have got is a view across water to the chateau, which a lot of great houses like Chatsworth use to great effect. If you can frame that view with a few well chosen trees trees to stay, and clear the rest, it will be a stunning drive in!
Wow Phil that is going be an undertaking for sure, it will look beautiful when you're done, hopefully more leaves will fall, and the weather will remain mild to give you a better view of what needs to be cleared away. Well done so far. the difference is amazing. Love from N.Y.
I'd honestly thought you were talking about revealing some original paving stones the way that the title was worded . The strips of fencing are not what I'd expected to see , very unusual type of conecting bits between posts . Usually its either a rod or a cable , haven't ever seen strips used like that before .
It is much better looking! Yes, more brushy stuff on the other side of the fence needs to come out too. Also raise the canopy of the large trees. All will give you more light and more views of the chateau.
Great Vision Phil, Massive change to the driveway. What a welcome home. Shame you did not have Rick helping you with extra muscle. Could you use the cherry picker to cut down over the fence to bring down the shrubs and trees to 2m tall. Looking forward to see more.
This year i was so surprised when I cutback rhodoes that were crawling on the ground because we had 2 big trees cut down Now they do look smart and are budding already Some I even was able to cut and replant because they had made root systems on their small trunks.
Really makes a difference just clearing out along the old fence. Your driveway seems OK. You don't have that dramatic entrance like at Billy's but for your château it seems fine. You have inside jobs that are more pressing? How is the pub going?? Stay safe and hugs to Angelina and Lightning 😘
Many grand estates had drives that did meander and had mere glimpses, but left the reveal of the house to the end. Just having a grand drive creates anticipation that there is something amazing at the end! IMO, that is more exciting than seeing the house from the start of a long drive that is straight & leaves nothing to the imagination....
It's absolutely not how many of these long drives used to work, or still work when they still exist! Quite the opposite. A long drive with trees planted on either side will hide the chateau from the moment the visitor goes through the entrance gate (leaving only the chateau's central part visible) until the very last moment, when he emerges from the alley in front of the house. Only then the full façade becomes visible in a truly theatrical effect (the larget the façade and the house, the better the "reveal" will be, of course). Sometimes, when the long straight drive happens to be on an ascending slope from the gate, you can have another "reveal" effect with the lower part of the chateau becoming visible little by little as the visitor progresses towards it until the hole scope of the façade is revealed "in all its glory". I use this grandiose expression on purpose, as indeed, all this was, once again, perfectly engineered theatrical effects meant to impress the visitor.
Great start Phil. Some time back you and Angelina spoke of getting the neighboring lake and field for purchase. Then you could have your old driveway back!

You're right. All your hard work is going to make the driveway and entrance special again. Brilliant.
A monumental task but definitely way better in the long run.
nice, best to you
Love what you're doing. I also love all the Rhodendrons.
Hey Phil, the old driveway looks beautiful with the overgrowth cleared away. I love how you can see the Chateau on the other side of the moat. God Bless, Kathy 🇺🇸
An enormous undertaking but so worthwhile. 👍
I love this chateau most

Great job! It will be a more inviting drive up to the Chateau, that's for sure.

Your château deserves a grand entrance!
There is a long drive near us and in the spring it is a mass of blue with bluebells under the trees - stunning
A boat and removing branches dipping into the water will also help, clip of hand saw!!! If you have the money a floatable dock!!!
Looks lovely just the bit you cleared Phil 😊
Hi Phil, I'm glad you decided to do that. Already you have made a difference and I can visualise just how amazing the end product will be. Best wishes.
Love the reflection of your beautiful chateau in the water.
Happy to see your vlog. Greetings from TX USA
Your lower plants look like rhododendrons, they'd be really good to keep, good work, you're a doer! L, Australia
It’s already a big change. I’m looking forward to seeing the progress.
Your driveway will be beautiful! Your home is such a jewel box and should be seen as your guest drive up!
I know! What a great way to describe it! “A jewel box!” ❤
I think once it is manicured, the driveway will be lovely! Big job!
Definitely keep clearing , and fix the fence ... a lick of paint marvelous

Looks amazing. I love nature and wildlife but sometimes they need a brutal trim back. Well done 👍
How is the Pub going?
What a great transformation.

Well done Phil the old fence is greatly revealed even though there’s repair needed here and there. You never disappoint it was a great video
atleast you have those old pictures...i spent the last 12 years digging up stumps from previous owners or tree bandits in my little forest

It really looks so much better!
Enjoying the beautiful scenic drone shots of your property. Lovely filming-thank you..
All those beautiful big trees make the place fairytale- like ! I love them !

It's coming right along. Love the fence and seeing a glimpse of the chateau and chapel along the way is exciting.

I had no idea it was strapping between the posts I originally thought it was pipe.
Goodness , I’m Hope your Back , It’s Great to Teach me your Wonderful Exposier, Good Luck 🍀, How are you Making ends meet 🤔
It will also help the pond not to have so much plant matter lining it.
Looks so much better with what you have accomplished. Can't wait to see it cleared more. Hugs
Great improvement. The view of the chateau is charming. I am sure you will get the entrance looking elegant. A lot of work
Rhododendrons are invasive.
Lovely💜 looking so beautiful s Already 😊✨
I would love to have this job👍🏼
That is going to look amazing, this time next year it will look like a different place. Can't wait
Good start on clearing the driveway, crack on!
It sure did! We can surely see your jewel box of a chateau!
I would cut out all that little stuff and trim the big trees up, to give more light, put some flowers in there.
I believe in you , you will do it 😉
Bit by bit
Big job ahead but it will look beautiful when completed. good luck.
One job, and you end up with loads of mulch and fire wood AND your driveway looks better.😊
Looking good!
Are you going to do all the posts in cement
Well done 👍❤️
Yay
You could probable replicate the broken missing posts in a mould the process is similar to making Intel's in concrete.
I have made some similar items like this in the past.
Good stsrt
Local fence company? Local farming store?
👋👍❤️
Perche non ci sono sottotitoli?
What happened to Angelina???
🪄👏🌟👍🍀💐
