He gets it. You'd think NHL players would've been banging on UHCs door wanting to get in on something fresh, something new. How often do you get to do something like this in your career? I get it, I mean at least at one time, everyone wanted to play for Detroit, they had that reputation but with UHC, you get to build that reputation, you get to be that Gordie Howe. Vegas Knights, they weren't transplanted like Arizona was, which makes outsiders seeing Utah step into hockey for the first time and want it to be a good experience for them and having a team that's the Coyotes..... Ergh.... Vegas came in and blew the doors off with a Stanley Cup within a couple years. I haven't followed the Kraken as much but, shoot, they made it to the playoffs the first year. Detroit doesn't even do that every year anymore. So, these guys want to hit that ice and give the fanbase a solid show because, like he said, Utahs excited for hockey and they'll take good care of their team. The Utah Grizzlies didn't get that kind of love and they suck so, Utahs happy to have an NHL team I mean, shoot, they don't even have an NFL team. They embraced hockey before football, which I think says a lot about hockey and the fact the NHL aren't doing a good enough job spreading interest but, this is a major deal and this guy understands that. Idaho usually follows Utah so, it wouldn't surprise me to see Idaho get a hockey team as well. Idaho Falls had been trying to get something, they're settling for something small for now but I think they want to try and beat Boise to it. Boise has a really good ECHL team but, if Utah finds huge success, Idaho won't be far behind, I think. Boise might jump in as well if they see a lot of money to be made.
Yup, go rock Utah, man. Show them what's up. Canada should be flattered. Hockeys getting bigger in the States, the NHL is bigger than anything coming out of Canada so the fact their national sport is spreading and that Utah embraced hockey before football, that's HUGE in the States, yeah, should be flattering and Utah ought to be embraced by Canada as well, that's one more win for the sport of hockey

I hope you put the puck in the other team's net more than in your own team's net. That's what you did in Vancouver. Glad to see you gone. You cost the Canucks the playoffs.

That's a harsh and stupid take. No one feels worse than he did during those moments. He did struggled really hard in the series against Edmonton, but in the series against Nashville, he was key on the PK and blocked a Ryan O'Rielly shot during a 5 on 3 with his head when the net was wide open. He struggles against the Oilers speed but thrive in that Nashville series where both teams played with structure.
I will say overall, his value is what he is. Veteran defenseman who plays on the PK and brought leadership and experience to a young team (especially at the start of the season and early in the playoffs). There are strengths and weaknesses to his game, but overall, I think he was a good signing for the Canucks as be brought leadership into a locker room that needed a reset after the last few turmoil seasons. His mission is accomplished and I wish him luck in the next team he is going into.
