The National Hockey League (NHL) and Fanatics today officially debuted the Fanatics Authentic Pro NHL on-ice uniforms, the first Fanatics-branded and designed NHL player uniforms that will be worn during the upcoming 2024-25 season. Today’s unveiling builds anticipation for the 2024 Upper Deck NHL Draft on June 28-29 at Sphere in Las Vegas, where the League’s next generation of players will receive the official Fanatics jersey of their new team after their name is called on stage.
Since 2018, Fanatics has designed and manufactured performance and training apparel for the
NHL’s players, coaches and team staff. Last year, the NHL and Fanatics announced an
expanded partnership which, beginning with the 2024-25 season, sees Fanatics become the
official outfitter of the NHL’s on-ice uniforms for the next 10 seasons. The new uniforms are
being manufactured by Quebec-based SP Apparel, the same company whose elite
craftsmanship has provided the NHL’s on-ice uniforms for nearly 50 years.
While the jersey’s base construction remains similar to the current jersey standard, new features
of the Fanatics Authentic Pro uniform, which is made in Canada with domestic and imported
    components, include:
DRAFT / INFORMATION UNDER EMBARGO UNTIL JUNE 26
    - An additional layer of fabric inside the lower sleeve to enhance uniform durability
intended to reduce material wear from sustained friction against the boards. This
enhancement was the direct result of feedback from NHL players and equipment
    managers.
    - New shoulder fabrics replacing the debossed pattern fabric used on the shoulders of the
    prior NHL jersey.
    - A new NHL Shield execution on the front neck of the jersey which includes a special
    hologram finish.
    - Fanatics branding embroidered on the back neck of jerseys.
-Fanatics has also introduced a redesigned on-ice player practice jersey, which now features an embroidered lightweight crest.
Over the past several months, Fanatics worked with the NHL and NHLPA to visit all 32 Clubs,
where players - including Connor McDavid, Aleksander Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, Nikita
Kucherov, Steven Stamkos, Brady Tkachuk and many more - had the opportunity to see,
feel and try on the new uniforms. Throughout these visits, the Fanatics Authentic Pro on-ice
uniforms received positive feedback. The players were glad to see that Fanatics kept the base
construction similar to what they were comfortable playing in, and also that some slight design
and performance adjustments have been made to the uniform. Additional player comments
    included:
Auston Matthews, Toronto Maple Leafs: “Fanatics did a great job designing these jerseys.
They feel comfortable and look breathable, which is important during games. Any little detail that
can help us perform at our best makes a difference.”
John Tavares, Toronto Maple Leafs: “I think the fabric is fantastic. It feels nice and will fit
really good with our gear on. On the inside of our jerseys, it reads ‘Honour, Pride, and Courage.’
It’s that type of attention to detail and quality that will hold true through the jerseys too. Wearing
the Maple Leaf is incredibly special, and I look forward to putting the new jerseys on for this
    upcoming season.”
Jack Hughes, New Jersey Devils: “Fanatics made a really good-looking jersey. It feels great,
the Devils crest looks amazing, and I look forward to wearing it on the ice next season.”

    Some thoughts:
    1) We know their track record before - I'll be careful hoping too much, even as a semi-casual fan not in north america.
    2) The answers sound A LOT like PR statements, especially the "oh we don't want to make changes for the sake of changing".
    3) That last part - don't want to make changes for the sake of changing - show and tell. Just because they say they are not going to go off the walls like the MLB saga, doesn't mean I'll be taking that at face value. Only time will tell if it's just PR or if they are actually true to their word.

That was really Nike's doing. They designed and 'tested' the new MLB tops and bottoms.

No they won't be different the top tier is literally the same as the on ice one.

The fact they are selling the actual made in Canada is massive and that alone gives them the win.

I’m willing to bet that these jerseys will actually be pretty damn good the first few years. So they can save face. But then I think they will inevitably cheap out and the quality will drop. Great that they have MiCs available to the public, especially in smaller sizes normal people wear without pads. That's probably the biggest win for the fans.
Getting one is tempting, but I'll be passing tbh. I don't want to support the Fanatics monopoly on sports merch at large, nor the NHL's addition of jersey ads as a whole. Not buying en masse would send a message on both, and I've got plenty of jerseys already. If I decide I want one later on I'll deliberately buy it from a second-hand individual seller. Action with your wallet is the only way to get corporations to listen (if sales dip enough).
Great video and congrats on the exclusive! It was super informative and well done, Brodie. Cheers.

You not buying one doesn't hurt anyone but you. Fanatics doesn't have a monopoly on anything but replicas.
Adidas chose to leave and Fanatics made the best pitch. As long as they keep up with the high quality why should any of us care ?
It's not like they are squeezing out small mom and pop places since mom and pops shops have not and will never be allowed to sell authentic unis.
In fact the Chinese knockoffs that cheap people buy are literally supporting a foreign economy.
Maybe if you could explain exactly why you would buy adidas or Nike etc but not the company who even now is still keeping a cheap intro uni but with improved quality?
Now if they come out and they are shit compared to adidas, then that's different because they are the only option but If they are the same or better than I see no reason to boycott them.cheers

@@Bp79-or4kp Fanatics was the only bidder, so they had the best offer by default. No one else was going to come close to their bid bc of their capital and working relationship already in place.
I did say "en masse" would have an impact. Individuals rarely have enough power on their own to change anything.
Fanatics has horrible quality merchandise (tees, hats, sweaters, etc). Their stuff is so cheaply made and does not last compared to other large companies. The jerseys will be fine on quality, it's literally everything else. And I don't support what they produce, so for me personally it won't be exclusive to jerseys (though that's their high ticket item).
Ads on jerseys are fine... if you're in Europe where they don't have commercials for soccer matches. If the NHL wants to make that trade-off, by all means. I'll hold my breath 😅 Otherwise I don't care how tastefully it's done. That's just my opinion, my guy. Thanks for letting me know you don't agree. Have a good Wednesday.

I’m buoyed by the fact that they’ve taken over the factory that has been making the jerseys for so long but that doesn’t mean they won’t implement some cost cutting measures. The problem with fanatics is that their products have always been cheap quality wise. When you pay 80-140 bucks for a hoodie and it starts unraveling after the first wash…that’s the problem and it’s a consistent problem with any piece of garment I’ve bought of theirs. T shirts, hats, hoodies…all junk and it’s why I haven’t bought anything of theirs in years. I buy at least a jersey a year for decades and I won’t be buying anything of theirs until I see some long term positive reviews.

Fanatics isn't taking over the factory in Quebec, they're just contracting them to produce on-ice jersey in the same way CCM, Reebok and Adidas did for years. AP Apparel in Quebec is just slapping a Fanatics logo on the back instead of Adidas. Fanatics will only be making the premium, breakaway and practice versions -- which is where I agree, we should be skeptical of their quality control and sizing and material cost-cutting

Getting them customized later, but biggest thing was to find them while still available. Looks like my fears were slightly overblown

Anyone that's owned a Made in Canada (MiC) jersey knows that once you get one, you'll never buy another model. I'm glad they didn't change up too much. I'll personally miss the dimples but understand not carrying that on.

    • @kygermo

Evidently Fanatics didn't go with the dimples due to the design being an intellectual property issue with Adidas, so im told.

Yep. From what I have heard, there will be three tiers of jerseys fans can choose from. There will still be the cheapest Fanatics “replica” jerseys from previous years, then there will be the “authentic” jerseys that are very similar to the Adidas jerseys you could buy last year, then there’s the “Authentic Pro” jerseys that are exactly the same as the ones the players wear, all the way down to the fact they are made in the same factory

This is actually very promising. I enjoy their Breakaway for the comfort level, but it's nice to see my expectations should not be diminished for some new jerseys I have my eye on for next season (Panthers, Bolts 3rd, etc.). I am curious if they will make the white road jerseys more available than Adidas did the past few seasons. Sometimes the clean white look is the way to go.

losing the shoulder dimples is a terrible choice, it gave the jersey so much more character and added depth to an otherwise blank area, not a fan and probably won’t buy one unless that changes

    • @MaxtheMonster13
      @MaxtheMonster13 Месяц назад +1

Fanatics didn’t have a choice. Adidas owns the trademark for that design, so Fanatics couldn’t have them on the jersey even if they wanted to.

We will see how much of the on ice and authentic they will keep in stock. They barely had sharks jerseys on fanatics that wasn’t fanatics branded. The adidas authentics with player names were more expensive than other teams for some reason and they never had any new players. I’d like to be the first one in Sacramento get the celebrini jersey lol. They better have them in stock instead of blanks to make you pay more for customization.

  • @mawortman72
    @mawortman72 Месяц назад

Will Fanatics be making a new black jersey?
The only problem I have with the design, is the shark fin on the left shoulder is going away from the Ford position. Both fans should be going forward, like an American flag, where the stars and stripes are always going forward. Other than that they're nice Jerseys. I haven't bought a new jersey since 1991.

Not to just be a negative Nancy, but the on ice jerseys have had double material on the elbows going back over 30 years. It’s been one of the distinguishing features of the pro jerseys. This video gives the impression this is brand new, and being introduced for the first time with these jerseys. It’s not. Good quality video other than that.

only the on ice jerseys will keep the old manufacturing factory. The consumer level ones will be manufactured by Fanatics so unless you buy the highest price one there may be more noticeable drop in quality. We'll have to wait to see those up close
