Wie der Hirsch schreit (As the Hart Longs) - 2010 TMEA Texas All-State Mixed Choir Rehearsal

The 2010 Texas All-State Mixed Choir rehearses this piece with the SMU Meadows Symphony Orchestra, directed by Dr. Kenneth Davis of St. John's College of Santa Fe, NM. Dr. Davis shared with the students how deeply he connected with this piece, and was so touched at the end of one of their rehearsals of the song that he said "it was the best day of his life" to hear it sung so beautifully. Because of the accoustics of the room, the orchestra is a little loud, so I also included an addendum at the end of the choir singing the last portion of the song with only piano accompaniment. Overall it is a gloriously beautiful work.

What a lively and dynamic performance! so much better than the traditional and schematic European versions .I am impressed that in Texas which is so distant from these musical traditions, one can enjoy such high class performances. Kudos from Jerusalem, Israel.
