those dance is inspired by the hand movements of weavers when they knot the threads of a carpet.
Googoosh really feels this gem of a song in every split of seconds and when the music temporarily changes time signature (hemiola from 6/8 to 3/4) feels this and answers in her dance, which is incredibly seductive.
Coming from western classical tradition, I also love the fact that harmonically this song might be based on exotic Phrygian mode. Gem of a song, sung and danced by charismatic Googoosh ❤ History.
I also really like the Afghani-Iranian sound of the lyrics (I don’t even understand a word) and I heard she’s from Azeri parents, but she collaborated a lot with Armenian singer Martik.
Afghan melodies are accompanied by peace, passion and trust. The drums are unique and recognizable.. some instruments specifically have meanings in Afghanistan and some regions around east of Iran. Tajikistan as well.. you can discover nice melodies and lullabies in these areas correlated with Iranian folk musics. From west, these correlations are obvious with Turkish musics and Iraq.. Therefore, Iranian artists such as Googoosh tried to save this connections with presenting a variety of folkish accents and tastes in their songs. He pays attention to tiny partial seconds of foreign songs ( so many of them already), at 7:00 Googoosh winks with one eye , he stops the video with surprise and winks with one eye at 7:10, he should be a very special person!.Also it means he finds Googoosh a special and talented person too, and makes us Iranians proud of his attention.

Dear Mace, greetings from London. Googoosh was a roll model to the other singers before the revolution in Iran and other singers used to imitate her from every point of views. The way used to dance on the stage, how to wear clothes, make up and etc. This song is Afghani based and the Tabla which has been played in it is from Afghanistan. The song was released in the mid 70s and i use this song myself for my practice on drums. But since you are interested in her work, i suggest to listen to the song called: DO PANJEREH.

You are awesome! It is a song of my childhood! Well, she is unique in dance, singing and act! She performs a short episode of moments, when she is singing and all the movements are very tactfully related with the lyrics and every single words she says!
This is her happiest performance, seems she was at the peak of her enjoying her youth at those years
