I'm so heartbroken. The respect he had for women is unfathomable. This song was my GO TO song after a shitty day. This song is about his then girlfriend, Nomi Leasure. They were high school sweethearts and dated for a very long time. They broke up in the midst of The Divine Feminine being written. She's a writer and even wrote about the last time they saw each other, and how they ended on a good note. Don't get me wrong, I love Ariana but she wasn't the only girl he ever loved and his death is in no way related to her. Lets let him rest, keep swimming up there Malcolm.

My ex girlfriend used to emotionally abuse me. I was in a very toxic relationship and thought I was truly happy and with someone who understood me. When I finally cut things off with her I came straight to this song the next day. She had a lot of mental health problems and even quit seeing her therapist and things got worse. I did the best I could for her but over time she just changed. I wish things could have been different. I hope she's okay now. I'm over her but I just hope she's healthy and happy.

I'm considering using this comment thread as an update on my experiences in general. I've actually bumped into her and her new boyfriend before just walking down the street. I think I've suffered some form of emotional trauma from our previous relationship. I've been getting panic attacks occasionally and even got one when I encountered them. I nearly had one after she purposely ignored me and made a point to cuddle up close to her new boyfriend. However, my close friends have been there for me and told me I've been doing a good job and my best at attempting to move on but this isn't easy for me. I hope that one day I will be fully better mentally but just know that I am doing the best I can and people are out there that care about me. If anyone else is in a similar situation just know that things eventually will get better. It just takes time.

i remember being 16 heartbroken a boy had left to college. thinking it was the end of the world. crying to this song in shambles. i’m 27 now, married with kids. after that summer ended i never thought of him again. but sometimes this song comes around and Im not reminded of him, but how i felt listening to this and how i also healed listening to it and it became a source of encouragement.

I had forgotten how much his music used to mean to me back then. I once took a train ride for 14 hours because I couldn't afford a plane ticket to his concert and then hitch hiked back home with someone I met. Just going through his music now, and it literally made my eyes wet.
The memories and the thought of him leaving this earth so young is heartbreaking. Everything we saw of him was good, no drama or shit. It looked like he treated everyone around him good..

It was on repeat and a big reason I got over the girl and moved on and I am eternally greatful for it. I eventually listened to more of his music but this one will always be my favorite by him. But i loved him so much for his uplifting, positive influence in my life, that I stopped feeling and even stopped listening to music for years after he passed.

Same af here....this song helped me get over my 5yr relationship and hardcore drug addiction.....it helped me realized i needed to stop thinking about how I only felt and accept what life gave me and also the fact that I wasn't the only one who was going through this at some point in his life.....true fans like us completely understand his music and POV not just because we can relate lyrically wise but because he was literally born on the same year as alot of us so we literally grew up with this famous rapper as if he was another friend talking through music emotionally and humor wise as well his music and music videos literally describe so much that i can honestly say me and my close friends grew up being like
