OSAP Pt. 1: OSAP Application & How CERB/CESB Affects It

First video in this two-part OSAP student loan series!
This video will cover first time OSAP applications and how the CERB/CESB will affect your 2020 OSAP.
With the pandemic, there's been lots of unknowns, especially for those applying for OSAP for the first time. The CERB/CESB makes everything more confusing so I did some research and came to the conclusion I explain in the video.
Hopefully this video sheds some light on how to apply to OSAP and for those who currently receive OSAP funding, how the CERB/CESB affects it. I wish I had this video when I was trying to figure everything out - lessons learned.

I wish I had seen this video before starting post-secondary! I've made tons of mistakes with OSAP, and switching majors has drastically affected my student loan funding. The fact that High Schools aren't teaching this to students who are planning to enter post-secondary is ludicrous. Thanks for sharing!

Hi i starterd my full time class last july, and i recieve ei cerb untill october, and then the government transist my ei crb to EI what shoul i do now,, Is my osap affected tnx

Hi dear government is now not giving Cerb they r giving EI if I am taking EI Is l can be eligible for grants or loans .

The amount shown in the OASAP aidestimator for travel and living, is it for per term ? Or for an year. ? Trying for 4 years bachelors degree

OSAP grants are provided depending on your family income from the previous tax year! Low income usually leads to a higher amount of grants provided for the student.

So if I am a Canadian ciizen but have never resided in Canada, I can not apply for OSAP? Can I apply for my first year of studying after I have already lived in Ontario for 1 year?

OSAP is a provincial program, the Federal government does provide a portion of the funding, they do this for each province. there may be an applicable federal only program you could look into. It would probably have less funding than OSAP though because the Provincial portion isn't there, if you do chose to reside in Ontario for a year first then yes you could apply.
