You have given me the confidence and excitement to actually follow through with the purchase of a new camera! Last camera I owned was a canon rebel t5 that I got for Christmas when I was still a kid in highschool, lol. I'm expecting my Fuji XT5 to be delivered tomorrow and I am bursting at the seams with anticipation to really dive head first into the world of Fuji, I am so fortunate to have stumbled across your page!
Just got my XT3 and you made what would've been an long month of learning the ins and outs a 1-2 day process. You saved me not only frustration, but got me between systems smoothly and that is worth more than words can express!
Part of my business involves shooting a lot of residential interiors and for that work it's mostly jpg, saves me a lot of time in post for fast turnaround. Neutral interior paint, flooring, and furnishings are all the rage in homes right now but few homes actually match that with neutral interior lighting. Interiors lit by warm incandescent, warm fluorescent, warm LED, super-warm "Edison" light bulbs, and mixes of some or all of the aforementioned are very common and tweaking the white balance used be a chore because with the old auto white balance option the neutral paint and furnishings would look extra yellow/orange in camera where the interior lights shined but compensating turned anything lit by windows too blue. Auto White Priority with Eterna profile to the rescue! That white balance / film simulation combination has been a game changer in that realm of my work.
Hey! Just wanted to say I totally hear you on feeling self-conscious re: braces as an adult. I did adult braces and often felt the need to hide them, but found people were always super supportive about them and if anything highlighted how I was investing in myself and caring for my dental health. I've since influenced my wife and in-laws to all get orthodontic work done as well haha. I slowly got used to them and just focussed on the changes I would see with each tightening. Eventually I forgot they were there! So worth it with the end results not only in how it looks but also for my general dental health. You're an absolute gift to the Fujifilm community with incredibly helpful tutorials. You have been invaluable in my journey into fujifilm photography coming from my previous experience with Olympus/M43 shooting. Thanks so much for all that you do and wishing you best of luck in your braces journey! 😊
I found your channel yesterday and I'm absolutely loving your content (information and style)! I've only recently got back into photography - purely as a hobby - after a very long break and I take delivery of my first fuji camera today, which is very exciting. Really enjoying learning about the system and all its features. Thank you!
I’m so sorry for the delay in seeing this… I get so behind lately in managing my YT account and am trying to get help. Thank you so much for supporting the channel!! I really appreciate it!! Cheers! 🙏 👍
I'm planning to get an X-T5 in June, and I'm really enjoying watching your videos to get me up to speed on all the latest technological wizardry but into these cameras. Your videos are both informative and entertaining. Thank you.
I always learn so much from your videos. Stick with the braces! I did a braces do-over at age 65 and am thrilled with the results. I, too, got the brackets.Easy peasy this go 'round! Stick with it! You'll be happy you did!!
Oh, now your studio lighting is terrific! And your actor's skills are marvelous!😜 Great thanks for your explanation. I keep following your videos, Sir! Really helpful!😁💗
@6:20 hey brother, raw files can actually have all the cameras settings baked in via raw file conversion. You can shoot raw with film recipes and everything and it’ll be pulled up in capture one as you took the image rather than what the actual scenery looked like
I bought daylight bulbs for my studio to replace the fluorescent ones I never turned on because they gave me headaches, so I can probably set the white balance to the number on those bulbs to start, no?
Don't worry about the braces, they look fine. And I didn't spot the line out of your head till you mentioned it. Great video, I'll have to try the Ambience setting sometime.
Thank you for pointing out what I hadn’t noticed and cannot now unsee. Sometimes in the game of setup, one must adopt the adage, if you can’t beat ‘em, join em. Put an f-stop scale in white letters sideways along the line!
As always... and again... great and helpful Video... you are the FUJIFILM Kamera Black Belt Master! I Learned so much since I have discovered your Channel. Thank You!
This is another helpful and well produced video. Your examples were very clear in demonstrating the differences. I just got my S20 and have been experimenting. I took some photos in an auto museum and white priority with nostalgic neg gave me a great look.
Rock those braces! I did the clear plastic type a few years ago to fix my hillbilly teeth, but I think the good old metal ones are more effective, and the results will be great! Thanks as always for your honesty, humility, and great camera intel!
thank you so much, I was wondering how I could go about this! And your video enlightened me once more!!! 🙏🏻 But I have one huge wish and request for a future video, unless I missed that you had already covered the topic: I'm working with Capture One (v23) and I'm facing an issue only with Fuji files (XE3 and XE4). C1 renders my jpgs + RAWs completely randomly. Even if I have set a certain Kelvin value all jpgs in C1 are set to 5000K and the corresponding RAWs have values that are so off (like 8900K and -18 hue). Have you had a similar experience and if so could you kindly give me some advice? When I set my Canon R5 to a certain K value it's exactly as it was set up in C1, why not with my Fuji files? I'm completely clueless! 🤷🏻♂
White balance also affects the metering. When I used to shoot theatre with a lot of different light colours, I had to use Auto WB, otherwise when the stage lighting changed colours, the exposure would not be right.
Very useful info, thank's for all the time and effort in producing this. BTW, no need to feel self conscious about the braces, most of us have had similar experiences in other ways,😜 no big deal. All the best.
Off topic a bit but- when one buys a camera does it come with the original software and the first thing one does is update it? If a number of updates missed does uploading latest automatically update all the previous ones? Tks v m
Thanks so much for this one!!! I was questioning about WB on my xt4 lately, thought to ask you about making a video about it... And look, the universe answered 😂 Thanks, Chris 🙏
I know your channel is called tech, but have you ever considered doing a short series on basic artistic concepts in photography? It's something you bring up in videos, but usually as a side note to whatever tech you're discussing. I'd be very interested in seeing your work from your artistic perspective rather than just the way to use gear.
Thanks. This was so helpful. Now that I have a better idea how it works it will help me in my quest to get the colors I want in jpegs which at times just do no not look right to me using auto white balance.
That better explains the automatic ambiance color balance than the user manual. Chris had to change glasses when he went to the near monitor, that's what I have to do also. My autofocus isn't what it used to be.
I found something quite disturbing with the Fuji XT3 face focus mode. I was shooting photos in of a crowd of people and trying to pick out certain people to focus on. Whenever I would try to focus on a darker skinned person, the face focus feature would not lock on and instead lock on to a light skinned person sometimes 3 or 4 persons away. I had a friend check my camera out, he’s a Nikon shooter and he had the same problem. The facial focus feature had a bias towards not focusing on a dark skin. Could you @pal2tech test this out?
Thanks for all the guides. Nitpicking here. I think we will very appreciate if from now, you can mention the setting exist in which Fuji models? Apparently, these options are not available in XE3, XT3(?). Subjectively (consider the timeline of all Fuji cameras), they are new. And very much new in developing countries or for novice shooters.
I am a little confused because I thought right just as you said RAW not much issue, BUT when i shoot say two different images and they have two different white balances in the same "room" If i set the white balance in a photo editor to "XX00 K" and whatever tint to match on both photos, the images look absolutely different and then I have to tweak them side by side to match. Is there any way to avoid this and match white balance when conditions are not ideal and not controllable?
Can you cover the new firmware for viltrox 75 1.2, if it fixes the autofocus as this is one of the best viltrox lenses and i would love to be sure before i buy
Another great video. Thanks very much and very interesting. I had never heard of this WB setting before. Stick with the braces and don't worry about it. I have some false teeth in the lower jaw and would love to have braces (or the teeth to put them on) 😀
Dude you look great with braces. I didn’t even notice until you said something and if anyone on this channel has anything to say about them then they are 12 or under lol. You literally got them to improve your mouth, that’s an adult move. Don’t worry about it, we love you regardless!
The only person who cares about what you look like with braces is yourself. I had them long (LONG) ago and I can relate but if you feel self conscious about them, realize that no one else minds. So smile more. You’ll feel better. And another entertaining and informative video 😁
interesting AW settings, thanks for showing the variances or close to none btw- 😂 Chris !! the braces look fine … no worries! pretty soon you will be all 👉🏼😬😬😬 grins and showing off your fixed up grill 😆😅
It is not the subject here, but as your mentioned the simulations, really not sure why they did not make Astia their default simulation, very natural and goldy skin tones compared to reddish Provia.
PLEASE help me out here: I make videos from events with my fujis. So a lot of indoor parties. I dont know what to do with my White Balance … The lightning in those parties switch very very fast from blue purple red green to whites. Sometimes in the same shot. Pfff I dont know how to handle the WB … the lights also are very directly on the people skins and faces and I have problems to do the post processing as well, i dont know what to aim for. Settings now: FLOG, auto WB balance.
Not sure if you will see my comment, but I had braces (second time) in my early 30's, and eventually I just didn't care, because in a couple of years, it will be gone and you will have nice teeth! Also, I have always wondered about the 3 diff AWB, thanks for the video!
Sounds like it would have made sense to simply call it something like "Auto White cooler" and "Auto White warmer". Still interesting and important to know.
You have given me the confidence and excitement to actually follow through with the purchase of a new camera! The X-T5 is a beast! You’re gonna love it!
Great to hear! You've got this!!! 👍
Just got my XT3 and you made what would've been an long month of learning the ins and outs a 1-2 day process.
You saved me not only frustration, but got me between systems smoothly and that is worth more than words can express!
Sorry for asking.
Does XT3 even have the options of "auto white", "auto ambience"?
@@codatpass no, just auto.
That was a good chuckle at the end.

Very grateful to you
Thank you!!! I really appreciate the support of the channel!! 🙏 🙏
I'm going through your videos in somewhat random order, really loved this genuine outro. Glad you kept it in!
Thanks!
I’m so sorry for the delay in seeing this… I get so behind lately in managing my YT account and am trying to get help. Thank you so much for supporting the channel!! I really appreciate it!! Cheers! 🙏 👍
Another fantastic video answering not only what is the setting supposed to do, but also how does it work irl. Nice work
I'm planning to get an X-T5 in June, and I'm really enjoying watching your videos to get me up to speed on all the latest technological wizardry but into these cameras. Your videos are both informative and entertaining. Thank you.
Your channel is one of the most informative anywhere. Thank you for everything you do.
Danke!
Thank you so much for the kind support!! You ROCK!!! 👍
Thank you! I was always wondering what the difference is.
Any time! 👍
I always learn so much from your videos. Stick with the braces! I did a braces do-over at age 65 and am thrilled with the results. I, too, got the brackets.Easy peasy this go 'round! Stick with it! You'll be happy you did!!

Congratulations, great video. Very interesting and above all entertaining, thanks to your charm.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Helpful and enjoyable! Thanks for the info and not editing the end :-)
I’ve been wondering about this since I got my X-T5, so thanks for this video!

Thanks for the information Chris another hit. I think the rest of us in the room aren't too worried about the braces. 👍
As Always great video Chris > keep doing the good thing > greetings from Holland
It is good to see you back
Great video, Chris. What is the lamp called you show in the video?
I loved the video Chris, you are still amazing, thanks
Cheers from Switzerland, Glenn
Thank you for pointing out what I hadn’t noticed and cannot now unsee. Sometimes in the game of setup, one must adopt the adage, if you can’t beat ‘em, join em. Put an f-stop scale in white letters sideways along the line!
Great video as always Chris! Thanks for the information and for making it fun and enjoyable to watch! The outro was awesome! Smile :D
As always... and again... great and helpful Video... you are the FUJIFILM Kamera Black Belt Master!
I Learned so much since I have discovered your Channel. Thank You!
As they used to say back in the day, just let it all hang out! Keep up the great work.
This is another helpful and well produced video. Your examples were very clear in demonstrating the differences. I just got my S20 and have been experimenting. I took some photos in an auto museum and white priority with nostalgic neg gave me a great look.
Hello, wich one is better for bokeh and for portrait photography… the xf 56mm f/1.2 R WR .. or xf 50mm f/1.0? Best regards
Really so helpful, thank you and the outro made me smile 😀
Great video Chris. You've opened up my understanding of how those three AWB settings affect your shot.👍
Hello from France. Great video Chris, you have a beautiful smile, thx for that ! 👍
Rock those braces! I did the clear plastic type a few years ago to fix my hillbilly teeth, but I think the good old metal ones are more effective, and the results will be great! Thanks as always for your honesty, humility, and great camera intel!
man you are great to watch and so helpful 😊
Great video as always!! Didn't know the difference between those modes. Thank you Chris!!!
You bet!
thank you so much, I was wondering how I could go about this! And your video enlightened me once more!!! 🙏🏻

Great video as always. I and of the weirdest things with the X-T5 is how they made adjusting the Kelvin level fiddlier than before (I reckon).
White balance also affects the metering. When I used to shoot theatre with a lot of different light colours, I had to use Auto WB, otherwise when the stage lighting changed colours, the exposure would not be right.
Haha. The end! Genuine guy. Great information. I always wondered the diff but was too lazy to look it up.
Always entertaining. And helpful. Thanks
Helpful as always. Keep smiling!
You are the best! And you look good and YOUNGER with the braces, always enjoy so much watching you
Very useful info, thank's for all the time and effort in producing this. BTW, no need to feel self conscious about the braces, most of us have had similar experiences in other ways,😜 no big deal. All the best.

Finally a video about this. I can’t figure this out on my xt4 xt5
Okay so when is the video testing out the underwater white balance 😁? Great job Chris.
Great video as always. Thank you and take care.
Sei semplicemente grande Mr. Chris 👍👍👍
Your right Chris I can not unsee it now
hahahah, yep!
I love that ending!!
Thanks so much for this one!!! I was questioning about WB on my xt4 lately, thought to ask you about making a video about it... And look, the universe answered 😂 Thanks, Chris 🙏
Ive been wondering if Pal is a fujifilm ambassador yet because this man has litterly thought me fujifilm !!!
What braces?!! 😁
Yep, excellent info as per usual! Thanks, Chris 👍
Hi, why my XT-2 WB with kelvin (5600-5300) is cast green color? Thanks
I know your channel is called tech, but have you ever considered doing a short series on basic artistic concepts in photography? What light is that?
Could you do a review of Ronin SC 3 mini and Fuji , especially does the blue tooth function work well with Fuji XT XH series ?
I found something quite disturbing with the Fuji XT3 face focus mode. I was shooting photos in of a crowd of people and trying to pick out certain people to focus on. Loads of cameras and face detections have this issue with darker skin tones
Thanks for all the guides.

Apparently, these options are not available in XE3, XT3(?).
Subjectively (consider the timeline of all Fuji cameras), they are new. And very much new in developing countries or for novice shooters.
Thanks for this! It was great to see when different AWB modes should be used, as Fuji manual is not that helpful...
The same with the night shooting ?
I have definitely fallen in love with Ambiance Priority.
Great video!
You are only human man. Keep being you!
We love your braces! and videos!!!

4:35 - not necessarily what I think of when theorising about being tied to a bedpost but hey...
Thank you!

With white balance in post editing. Can’t it be corrected there ?
Thanks very mutch!
Saludos desde Chile
You are fine, boss. Just keep on keeping on .... good fuji videos coming.
I appreciate that!
Learning lines for the win
Thanks for this video...
Excelente 👍
White balance verses tint adjustment... I'm confused.
PLEASE help me out here:

high five Chris !! 🖐
Wow. This is genius.
You are the best.🙏🏼
Got it
FYI cloudy temp is 6500-7000 not 5600.
