You might try a thicker application of the Giant varnish (H2O) and let it slow dry without heat. The opacity is from the water and will clear on it's own. The orange peel appearance is probably because it dried to quickly and unevenly from the heating. I tend to spray 2-3 thin layers on a plate - spray, wait 20-30 seconds, spray again, wait 20-30 seconds and then let dry. It will be almost opaque looking at that point. The drawback is waiting for the plates to dry - can take hours until they get really dry. Takes a lot of space and/or time to do multiple plates because of that.
@Markus Hofstätter - I sometimes run a small fan over them, like 30cm above them to try and keep dust away, but for the most part I let them dry in a low traffic area so hopefully there isn't much stuff getting airborne to land on them.
Hi Markus! Do the spray varnishes tend to darken the plates at all like the shellac/sandarac ones do? Good to have a few potentially easier options, thanks!
Great video! Do I have to heat up the plate afterwards like for lukas using the odourless 102, too? Thank you!
@@joekhan994it all depends on how much time you have. Only Cobra takes forever without heating up
@ haha, good to know!

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I’ll give it a try! Do you cover your plates with trays or something to avoid dust particles?

Markus, thank you for information! 70% uses of sandarac varnish for me is a disaster, now I know what to do =)
Very welcome 🙏 happy to help
