Da Balooga you're telling someone their opinion is wrong, because your opinion is different... what? You act as if there's legitimately ONE TRUE best acoustic song. Everyone has their opinions, and a lot differ. Be humble and respect others, don't be like a stereotypical religious person and force your ideologies down others throats because they differ from you.
I love that his voice sounds exactly the same, with so many bands recording and only using the perfect material, or straight up modifying it to sound better, you go to concerts acoustic sets like the Planet of Sound and find they just sound different. They don't sound as good, so when a singer uses their natural voice when you go to concerts and stuff you never feel let down because it sounds just as good.
Jesse Lacey One of my favorite things about Hurt is they don't autotune. and I don't mean that just with J's voice I mean that across the board. If you listen to their albums, the first two especially, you can hear missed notes, string drags, scratches and all sorts of things but it makes the music HUMAN! It makes it real. People aren't perfect and knowing that this is someone playing the best that they can and pouring their heart into it makes the music that much better to me. I'll never understand the infatuation with autotuned perfect music that can't be duplicated without a computer. I want real, raw, talent to drive the music that I listen to and nothing more.
That's kind of like what I was saying with the voices as well, if you like a band you don't want to see them in concert and feel like they don't sound as good.
"She swore she heard, the voice of jesus, telling her, its wrong to keep it, and one more thing, it looked like me, back when it breathe, rest in peace." Amazing song.
The problem with me and this band is that every time I hear them, they demand my full attention. My emotions go up and down along with the song. Angry. Wistful. Cynical. Melancholy. I can't do the jig or play Wii Fit while I'm listening. I can only fixate my eyes on the wall and space out. I fall in love all over again every time I hear them. Which isn't always good for my health. Maybe J. Loren doesn't do the RUclipss, but if he ever does some day, I want him to know he's a marvelous artist.
Been listening to this song for the last eight years and this is criminally under liked. All the pain and rage expressed in this session deserve much more than 9k likes compared to 1.3 million views.
This is the song that led to me discovering this band. And every time I listen to their discography, I feel like I’m re-discovering them. Can’t believe it’s been 14 years since the first time I heard this song...
To think that they never got the real push that they deserved - even in 2020, it's still unbelievable. In fact, the more time that passes, the more ridiculous it seems, "radio friendly" music(and, let's be real, that still includes everything from Rush in the past to Tool in the present, it isn't a derogatory term) has devolved at an alarming rate. There's still a LOOOT of great material out there, but you have to dig for it today, there isn't much interesting that's anywhere near the surface. 2020 could really use Hurt TBH...
When I first heard this song years and years ago, it was just a badass song. Then, after paying more attention to the lyrics, it became a powerfully emotional song. I never read into whether or not it was true... maybe because my brain didn't want to know... but years later, after happening upon this live performance, there's no doubt. Now, it's beyond a powerfully emotional song and evolved for me into something I can't listen to without devoting everything I am to the next 5 minutes. Absolutely... best acoustic performance of a song I've ever seen.
This is one of the most amazing acoustic versions of a song I've ever heard. J kills the vocals and the fact that they sound this good live is freaking disgusting, in a good way. By far the best band that hardly anyone knows about. I wish I could write like J. His lyrics never cease to amaze me.
I've been watching/listening to this exact video for ~14 years and to this day it is one of the greatest examples of acoustic excellence that I can think of.
It's 2019, this just remains as the best acoustic performance! Sadly, the entire band broke up except the drummer, I guess. Hope J Loren Wince finds just the right members who would remain with the band forever for making such beautiful music. You are `bad ass` J Loren
the emotion in this song hits very close to home. I had a friend who introduced me to my wife almost 9 yrs ago. she introduced us after her and I decided it wouldn't be a good idea for us to date because of our positions in life at the time. she later met a guy who became a good friend. eventually they had a falling out and she skipped town with their 2 boys who were 5 and 6 yrs old. she and a friend of hers were recently held on charges because they beat the children so badly the 5 yr old passed away from injuries and the 6 yr old thankfully recovered. I really hope this song helps people cope with the pain of life and all the horrors we face everyday. it helps me remember little Damyan. R.I.P. little man! 😚✌
This song will always be one of my favorites. I have " Find in me, the room to breathe" tattoed on my leg, the meaning behind that one line for me is soo Astounding. I've tried to explain it but words just don't come our right.
Hurt is so amazing. They deserve a more. J had parents that didn’t approve of music and they were not aloud to listen to any in the house. No wonder he turned out to be such an amazing artist. This song is so deep as he talks about how his wife killed their baby because god told her to. I couldn’t imagine.
In the life of the wrong a love lingered on, Love lingered on to frustration. And if our love is so wrong, what should we do alone? Or am I just a picture in a photograph? The story behind the lyrics is simply incredible and heart moving. We really need to keep real and emotional music like this within our grasp before the mainstream sewage floods us out completely.
The raw talent this band has is just astonishing. On top of all that talent is the meaning behind the music they produce. I know they said they were never looking for fame, but karma if you exist, you need to have this band be known.
Saw these guys live in Augusta, GA about 17 years ago. They also did a meet and greet at a local music shop (I believe it was called Rock Botton) before their concert. I walked up to the table with the inserts from Vol.1and 2…J asked if I bought both cds… I said I’ve got 4 of your cds… the band collectively showed appreciation with,”hell yeas” and “that’s what’s up”! They all shook my hand, signed my inserts, and gave me a poster size blow up of the Vol. 2 cover also autographed. Then J and Paul did a few acoustic songs in the shop…including Assurance, which was their most recent radio release. It was awesome! I was within 6 feet of them as they performed! Great giys$
Funnily enough, J Loren (the vocalist) on the commentary track for Besides & Footnotes says that Pearl Jam was one of his biggest influences for the band.
As a fully disabled combat veteran as well as someone who has stayed the way we’re all born….AN ATHEIST (at BEST or AN AGNOSTIC at WORST) I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS SONG!!!!
I remember seeing the music video for this song when I was around 12 or 13 and here I am at 30 still getting goosebumps Hurt made some timeless and beautiful music
This is one of the most beautifully sad songs I have had the pleasure of listening to... Thank you Hurt... thank you for your talent, inspiration... and sadness. A veritable Rose among the thorns!
Gosh I miss this band. I have all of their releases (even B-sides and Footnotes) and know there were label and health issues J had but I wish they'd come back and release new music. With that said, I love coming back and watching these performances. I was lucky enough to see them live a few time for both the Vol 1 and Vol 2 tours. I wish more "popular" music was as real and honest as Hurt.
This is to J.Loren and Paul. . Wish u guys could read this message truly cus even this song may b years old it has influenced our whole town of friends. It means so much to us and thank u for your creativity and expression. It touches us to the core every time we hear rapture. Thank u. Sincerely Kyle Way Facebook Canterbury, CT
I still listen to this every day. I do not know his or the bands suffering. I felt his pain as a musician myself. But on the 24th of August 2022 at 11:47am. I had to put my baby into the ground. I'd do anything to have her back. I love my baby, Mischa was and is my star.
One of the few bands that sounds as good or better in acoustic, all for a simple reason and I felt this way about Shinedown as well, his voice sounds exactly the same in studio, acoustic, and live. Some people sound completely different on live and acoustic sets. As much as I love the original version of this song, I think the acoustic is even better, it brings forth his voice and the emotions better than the original.
Here I am sad again, the kind of sadness thier talking about, I lost my youngest child on valentine days....R.I.P Darryl Edward James Simpson. 3-15-05/2-14-06.They ruled it as SIDS but ugh fuck that's the most absolute horrible 🥺. This song so powerful and I feel this song so much cuz I totally can relate, thanks hurt for this song. It's what I feel but can't express..them acts of God really fucking stick it to us don't they. Much much love ❤ for this song
Saw these guys last night on their acoustic tour. One of the most heart wrenching shows i've seen. This guy believes every word he is singing and it defiantly shows on the stage.
I am the only pereon in the world that thinks is the best acoustic version of a song EVER MADE?!? I try to play it on my guitar recording both parts and it is so complex and so beautiful of a song and very well put together. I love this song....I love this band. this is the best acoustic song available on youtube, its a must watch every time I log in. J and V really put something really special with this set , wish I could get all the acoustic session @emi on a dvd
Andy M Indeed...Days of the New has some awesome acoustic tracks...when Travis Meeks kicked out the whole band...they acquired a new singer & formed Tantric...equally as good imho
Still listening 2023, keep them going ppl. Have missed your guys amazing music! @Hurt

My brother and myself are talking about Hurt right now. So I decided to put this on the speaker
Me too 👌🏻 absolute fire 🔥 think I’ve been periodically listening to this since it came out 17 years ago 🤣

Simple things like suffering
Life had gone this way
Life is gone this way
Still in the life of the wrong we all moved along
Another life evolved to gestation
And so we made our way with the mistake we made
But she was just a picture from a photograph
So she walked in the baby's room
Knowing what she should do
Leaves me in absolute horror
She put her hand on its lips
And gave it one last kiss
And sang some tune that went
Until your rapture falls to pieces
Till your rapture falls to pieces
Find in me the room to breathe,
Simple things like suffering
And I would and I would, destroy your god
Yes I would if I could destroy your god
Because you're born again
Until you're worn again,
Until your rapture falls to pieces
Till your rapture falls to pieces
Find in me the room to breathe,
Sinful things like suffering
Till your rapture falls to pieces
Till your rapture falls to pieces
But, if this must be, then burn with me
Anything
Just don't leave
So find in me the room to breathe
Sinful things like suffering
Till your rapture falls to pieces
She swore she heard the voice of Jesus
Telling her it was wrong to keep it
And one more thing, it looked like me
Back when it breathed
Rest in peace
Until the rapture comes to meet us

I wish these dudes didn't stop playing.
I saw these guys live about 12yrs ago. Such a great band, keep them alive.
