Well, I'm never going to look at a cooked chicken in quite the same way again! Great video dude, you might just have inspired me to get my own Mando painted now!
Haha! I find that I’m starting to look at things and think ‘how could I make terrain out of that’, even food 😅 Looking forward to seeing what you do with yours!
There was a store that I want to want to set sold exotic animal skeletons. One of their means of completely stripping flesh from the bones was to leave the bones on an ant hill for a few days.
I used a Christmas turkey that way years ago and it turned out VERY well. As I planned on picking up a turkey next time I go to the market anyway I am going to do it again just to see what twenty five years of experience has taught me.
I love how the video is about the chicken bones, but actually has so much else in it that's great. Be good to see the leopard spot technique explained in a video when it comes up again. I gotta say how awesome and alien the sternum from the chicken looks as well!
Thanks buddy! It was a really fun video to make despite it taking me a lot longer to do than I had originally thought it would. I’m really pleased with the results. I’ll be sure to go in to more detail on the leopard spot technique comes up again, which will probably be sooner rather than later 😉 The diversity in the chicken bones really gave plenty of options to play with and I definitely have some more ideas if I decide to do this again!
I once used a pig skull left over from a company picnic pig roast. There was a bullet hole in the middle of the fore head, it was a great piece of terrain. I donated it to my local game store after years of use. I'd do it again. Great vid Benji. 👍
@@BenjisHobbies it was, I made tusks from mili- putt, they were about 3inchs tall, it was fun to have on the table, tho honestly your chicken bone pieces look way better than mine did.
This is a really clever idea! Really should paint my own Mando at some point, took me enough prints to get it right! The scatter terrain pieces are excellent, the 3D prints just sell the whole effect. Congratulations on 1K subs!
Didn't realise you had a printer mate, this is a fantastic idea. Plus gives me an excuse to eat some chicken, not that I ever need much of an excuse...
I got it for Christmas, although I’m trying not to use it to print things unless I need them. I think it could get addictive! Would love to see what you do with this idea!
@@BenjisHobbies ha, yeah, addictive is one way to describe it... I'm thinking swamp terrain. I'm currently stuck on what sort of basing theme to do for my Star Wars minis, I want something different but I want to be able to tie it onto terrain
Thanks Jill! It was one of those things that I don’t think I needed but it will (and already has!) be very useful. They’re so reasonably priced now too it felt like a great time to jump in!
Thanks buddy! I think it was this one, free on Thingiverse 😊 Good luck with it - I’d love to see what you do with it! www.thingiverse.com/thing:4090736
"I Made Wargaming Terrain using a ROAST CHICKEN!" - good grief mate,. I actually LOLd at that title! Might have a look at the sort of stuff I can do with salt n pepper rib leftovers :D Edit - forgot to add, the end result is mint, top work.
Sculpting in cow bone with a dremel is always an option. But best to use raw sunbleached ones that have been dug down in the ground for a couple of years, apparently. My local luthier does that with moose bones to make all the nuts for his guitars.

Them: How the bones on your base look really realistic! You 3D printed them right?
You: *silence*
Them more concerned: you 3D printed them right…?
I’m 100% not a serial killer. I promise… 👀

For taxidermy purposes that would work really well! I know a lot of taxidermists use dermestid beetles for this 😊

Nice work pa. looks ace
Thanks man!
Nice idea mate, love the Mando diorama, looks fantastic 😃👍🏼
Thanks dude! I’m really pleased with how it turned out 😊
Brilliant! This piece artwork menaces with bones carved from bones! All Craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality.
Thanks so much!
Really like the paintjob on the Mandalorian. This is a great diorama
Thanks so much for your kind words 😊
'If you would like to help me buy more rotisserie chickens' priceless :-D
Hahaha! It felt like a good Segway in to mentioning Patreon 😅
Or help him to buy a rotisserie oven. We have one. He needs one.
Nice work man :) Something I've been meaning to try myself, so it's good to see how preparing the bones turns out!

i did give it same thoughts for quiet a while now so now i am convinced thanks bro
No problem at all! Would love to see how you get on with yours 😊
Didn't realise i was starving. Nicely done, dude.
I really fancied a chicken sandwich at 2am when I was finishing the edit 😅
Somehow missed this video last year. Great idea and love the end result.

Thanks John! Get him painted! I really enjoyed painting him and as I said in the video I felt like it really worked for my style of painting.
Don’t forget to like and comment to appease the almighty algorithm 😁👍🏼
The algorithm is appeased for another week. Thanks as always!
BONES❤️! love the way you used them 👌
Thank you! I’m really pleased with how they turned out 😊
What a great idea!!! Using real bones also give you that distinctive porous surface on them!
Thanks! They definitely have a different look and texture to other materials. You can definitely tell when bones have been 3D printed.
That is amazing I never thought of chicken bones lol May I ask where is the Mando from?
Thanks! It’s super simple but looks pretty effective! It was a free file that I found on Thingiverse so should be easy enough to find!
Great idea. I bet you can find some interesting bones in the bins at work 😂
I’m not even going to go there 😂

First roast the chicken
Next eat the chicken
Then proceed with the rest of the project.
I think it’s a good way to start any project!
@@BenjisHobbies unless you are a chicken of course. Then it would be the worst way to start your project.
My ability to hobby would also be severely hampered if I was a chicken...

Ace idea. Definitely one to keep in mind for the future.
Give it a go dude! Would love to see other people use this technique!
Great idea, but still no smell?
Nope! Still fine 😊
wow, very cool!
Thank you 😊
Planning to use my next roast chicken bones.
That's really cool man, an really impressive work

@@BenjisHobbies hmmm, delicious *and* mysterious!
i saw a guy who used real mouse bones to make a converted vermilord and everyone called him a psychopath. i just see it as creativity.
Absolutely! I mean, the bones would just be going to waste otherwise so may as well get some use out of them. The entirety of that chicken got used!
@@BenjisHobbies bone also has less of a permanent environmental impact than plastics.

I might try this with cow bone

yep done this quit a bit
New sub. KFC tonight then

A fun gimmick. But it is a gimmick, as you have: a 3D printer.
Not everyone has a 3D printer though, and I’ve yet to find a file that looks like real bones.

Beats adding new waste
